Ok,

so i changed ABS to 1 and set tyres to "racing soft" and i managed a 2.20.660 on spa with all assists (except abs set to 1) set to off, grip set to real and simulation. Still using the zonda as a test car but oe those tyres make a huge difference :-0

Knocked 8 seconds off by changing tyres to soft and abs to 1.

not sure how consistently I can do it as I find I'm skidding out of corners due to the pad analog sticks just bring to short.. 1mm to far nd your wheel spinning and 1mm to little and your not moving... I wish I had triggers like the 360 pad... Or that fanatec would send my stuff quicker!

I can gift it to you tomorrow night.  There is a limit of one car per day.  I sent you the Ford GT yesterday, and i am sending HairyChineseGuy a Super GT car tonight.

I have $14 million in credits (all clean, don't worry), and over 1100 cars.  One way or another, I can help you get any car in the game.  The $20 million cars cannot be gifted, but I can gift you cars that you then can sell back to the game for credits.

Nevermind about the HSV, Craig. I saw that I needed to level up in order to buy so I ran some seasonal events till I got to level 20 and in the process made plenty of dough so to buy one. I needed to play those events anyway so I could get used to the physics in this game. I then saw that when I downloaded the car fromthe games main menu (along with the free Subaru BRZ) that the car was then in my delivery queue. I was like, huh... Then, sure enough, I went to the delivery queue and grabbed it. So, in essence, I got the car for free (in game) when I grabbed the DLC.

Hairychinesekid, I suggest you check your "delivery" queue, the one on the menu screen that has a semi for an icon, it may just be sitting there waiting for you to grab it.

Ran some laps with it at Spa (stock) and managed a 2:26.xxx for my best. I'll build it to suit and see what happens then. Anyway, very cool and an awesome car to drive. Going through Eau Rogue with that thing is exhilarating. (Even if it is just a game) LOL

Forgot to tell you guys, all DLC cars show up in your semi in the GT Life screen.  You need to "deliver" them to your garage, and then you are good to go.  They are yours.  No in-game credits needed.  If you need another one, you can buy it from the new car dealership.

I bought that DLC too thinking I could run it in time trial... Boy was I wrong.. That charged me cash to then charge me a million credits, there not daft :D it's the same with forza, charge you physical cash, then want you to buy it in game? When did gamers accept this a valid form of entertainment? If you buy it you should have it in your garage IMO.

I just want to buy the game and play it my way, why they feel the necessity to make everyone work for it, it should be optional like some of the PC sims... Although they ain't perfect either as IRacing only rents you content I believe, once you end your subscription they remove everything you bought from them :-0 ... Again, when did gamers accept that as a legitimate way to have fun :)

@Zero, I'll run the car at spa tomorrow (back in bed now as its nearly 1am my time) and I'll let you know how I do on times etc... Thanks for sending me the cars guys, it's really appreciated. I'd hate to have to play weeks of single player just to save up enough credits to buy a car to race with new friends/groups...

It a high barrier to entry, and I think it's why I've not been online with my ps3 previously. This way I can practice off line and still join in the races thanks to people like zero and parcells. I'm not sure I'll even ever start the career in GT. I may just enjoy time trials and Thursday nights (hopefully soon to be more euro friendy) with the 2old2play groups :)

ive really enjoyed GT5s time trials, much more than forza time trials, just can't wait for my wheel to arrive, the pad is ok, but I really want to get my teeth sunk into it and get immersed in the game a little more :)

Hmm,

Its not sitting in my truck or showing in my downloaded content on the main page, It's showing in my history as "downloaded" from the PS Store though?

Maybe I should start career mode, it might appear :D

Thanks for posting a time snappy, it gives me something to aim for and to see just how far off the pace I am :) are you on a pad or a wheel?

Hairy,

I am on a wheel but not using the clutch yet.  I recommend going into carrer mode and running the "Seasonal Events" you will level up and make some credits while you are at it.

Craig, how do I set GT5 up where I have to use the clutch?

Also, has this group run Le Mans with a day night transition or weather change? Is it possible to adjust the setting to speed up/slow down the time change process?

Not positive but I thought as long as you have a stick shift connected to your wheel when you start it up that your clutch was operational. Clutch does not work with the paddles shifters.

Look at the slider options near the bottom of the track set up page...you can adjust how quickly the time and weather changes for those tracks that allow it. Unfortunately it's a litle bit trial and error to get it the way you want.

Just set the car to "Manual" in one of the pre-race menus, after you select the event you are going to run in and the track and cars load.  You then trigger the clutch simply by using it.  There is no special setting for it.  Be careful about using the clutch, though.  Its much harder to use the clutch in GT5 than Forza.  It will misshift if you have the slightest discrepancy, whereas Forza is much more lenient.  Its so hard that I no longer use clutch at all in GT5.  You definitely don't want to use it during our Thursday night races, as it gives you a handicap that the rest of us do not have.

I do not play with the day night transitions and so I cannot speak to that.  Parcells knows more than I do about that topic.

Found it, it hadn't installed correctly.

@zero.. Thanks for the car, I've ran it round spa with all settings set to off (except abs 1) and simulation and grip tc to real and managed a 2:14:088 clean lap. I've tried o beat it as I had a poor start and poor last sector but I keep outdoing myself on the corners... I'm not consistent with lap times though as this pad is shit! I hate the ps3 pad! So if I'm up at 2am on Thursday I hope I don't spoil anyone's race :-0

I need my wheel or a more accurate pad. Great car though, much easier to drive the that zonda. Have you tuned it? Will it be a stock tune on Thursday or do people tune cars individually? Thanks for sending it over I've had un at lunchtime driving it and it was much more enjoyable than the other cars I've driven... It's a good speed, grippy, good handleing with an overall great blance and feeling when using it at spa. The zonda felt too skippy and tail happy and felt very nervous, this car feels more tylored o a track like spa and feels very confident around this track.

I wish I had my wheel to give you better feedback, but overall it's Ben a blast driving it.

can you tell me zero, where should my imes be close to? What times are you and parcells achieving in this car at spa? Could you give me a rough example? Do I need to gain another 5-10-15 seconds to be in the pack?

Again, not sure if I can stay up until 2am start time, but at least I can practice in the mean time, until parcells does a eurozone gt5 race :)

I'll let you know Thursday after we run a couple laps.

On the assumption that practice is for pussies, Parcells does not practice. That said I have done some minimal tuning maybe on 3 or 4 cars over the past 2 years but 4 out of 5 times I go into Thursday evening having not turned on my PS3 since the previous Thursday. The only time I’ll do anything resembling practice is when the spec car has an adjustable race transmission in which case I may run a lap or two on each track to adjust the final drive ratio.

The excitement level of you newbies has Parcells considering running some of that minimal practice tonight to get my final gears right so Snappy will have some competition. If I do that I’ll let you know what my Spa times are.

If you're doing 2:14's with a controller and a shitty one at that when you get your wheel you may find yourself penalized by a new rule Parcells hasn't made up yet.

Parcells managed a second under that but I'd wager that during tomorrow's race I'll be more than happy with consistent 2:14 anythings.

Maybe Zero will send you another car and maybe he tunes them before sending them out but I sent you a car Monday night that is built for this week. No tuning done at all but that's basically what Parcells will be driving. I know one guy runs quite a lot during the week (not a 2O2P member) and Zero puts in some time but I'm guessing the mass majority of us race Thursday evenings and that is all???

INKABOD, if you bought all of the DLC, then you have the spec car for tomorrow night.  If not, let me know and I will send you a Super GT car that is part of the base game that you can run tomorrow night.  I can send you the car after 7pm PST tonight.  I am limited to one gift car per day.

HairyChineseGuy, I do not tune.  At most, I will adjust the gears just before the race begins, particularly if we are running something like the Ring, where you need the longer gears for the straight at the end.

Do not worry about being behind the pack.  Our series is not like the typical 2Old4Forza event, where there are the "fast guys" and the rest of us.  GT5 is not really amenable to that; rather, parity is the rule.  I think that is partly because of the physics, which vary greatly from car to car, and because tuning is less of a factor than it is in the Forza series.

Yes, I can send a Super GT car tonight after 7pm PST.  It will have the correct upgrades and you can use it for tomorrow night.  If you have all of the DLC, then you have tomorrow night's spec car, you just need to move it to your garage from the semi on the GT Life screen.

Update:

Just tried spa in the nismo GT-R 08 and well... Don't bother :) even with wet tyres this is a definetely a dry car only. In the dry it's the most confident car I've tried (I've only tried the default ones available in time trial mode) but in the wet is not fun lol :)

a few questions

is it possible to disable the rear view mirror when in time trial?

is it possible to keep variable time of day and fog etc but completely remove that of awful cheap ass poor effort of a rain effect! I mean really, how bad is that rain effect :) I'm not a codemasters fan, but f1 2012 has beautiful rain effects, I've been spoilt. I'd like to try spa at night, evening or foggy (edit: just got dry foggy and running that now)

Still unable to beat my time above but I will keep trying and see if I can get close to you guys. Also, I'm using automatic gears due to no wheel, but my elite nd CSP should be here soon hopefully, so I'll enable manual and clutch and hopefully will be able to improve further on those times.

Really enjoying this car, time trial is usually not an enjoyable mode for me, but with zeros car, at spa, I've spend hours chasing my tail hand laughing at mistakes rather thn getting angry. The car feels just right, good overall speed, good acceleration, good grip level, it feels right for this track! When I drove the zonda it was nervous and twitchy and while I enjoyed it, it wasn't really "fun" ... This GT-R from zero allows me o have "fun" as well as it just feels more suited to this track. I feel confident accelerating out the corners and trust my back end to stay firm... Even on a pad you can almost "feel" when the cars ready to bite... But it's very forgiving and to honest, I like that. Sim racing should be fun, not a job, but a means of escape and to able to feel speed and to make you feel entertained. The zonda never gave me that feeling at spa (it felt like hard work) but this makes me smile :)

I hope I can join in on Thursday, I ope I can be competitive and I hope I don't ruin anyone's race... But if parcells and zero don't mind sending me these cars, even if I can't stay up until 2am to race, I can still practice and write about it here (even more o when my wheel arrives) until the Saturday euro races start up :)

Thanks Again,

now I really should get some work done :D

Thanks parcells, its a big hit and miss but it kinda works, cnt get night time though? Can all tracks be ran at night or just select ones?

also, does anyone know of a smart glass type app for GT5 ... I'd like to be able to remove my HUD completely and maybe have only a speedo etc on my iPad (much like what Xbox smartglass does) this would make for a better experience for me. I have searched online, found 1 guy using an iPad as a HUD but no description on how this is done? Anyone know?

Have no idea about the smartglass query and only select tracks have weather and/or night affects which are identifiable by the extra "weather" or "time change" verbiage on the track name. Usually on the time change tracks you can set the starting time and adjust how fast time goes by to reach morning or night quicker or slower.

Yes hairy that is my setup . You can see more pics of it at the" show us your rig "forum. The shifter is a Thurstmaster Th8rs shifter with a interface one shifter adapter board. Never thought to make commission from building sim racing rigs thanks for the compliments. Will send FR this evening.
