Any interest in an MT vs 2old2play Reach scrim/mixer?

I'm thinking of organizing a fairly competitive scrim/mixer between Master Theory and people from 2old2play.com. I just need to gauge the interest of everyone before taking it up with the admins of 2o2p.  It would most likely be a Friday or Saturday night deal, but I have no initial time frame until I can determine the number of interested participants.  The games would most likely be BTB type games until people have to leave, in which case it would then be even teams until everyone quits (7v7,6v6,5v5,4v4,etc).  I was hoping for more of a scrimmage aspect.  MT fields one team while 2old2play fields another.  It's possible we could do this at first and if the games become one sided, start mixing the teams.  I would like to stream the games if possible, but it's not a requirement for these games to occur.  Let me know if you're interested so I can begin throwing around dates and times.

If you are interested in participating, let me know if June 29th

or 30th would work.

If you decide to field a 4 person team, I'd definitely be interested.

Depending on the number of participants from each side, it is possible to have two scrims going, 8v8 and a 4v4 (or 5v5).  Also, as it gets later into the night, people will eventually get tired or bored and leave, setting up some potential smaller games.

What is MT all about? I'm guessing that's Master Theory. More curious than anything, but I do make an exellent handicap

I'll throw my hat in, but I know MT is a skill and very competitive clan, I can't see us competing with them unless we field a team of just skilled players.

My Over 50 peeps would beat their arses. That's because they'd be lying down looking up at MT arses.laugh

Probably too serious for my age group but I'll mention it to them soon. I like the BTB idea.smiley

the first priority seems to be BTB, then some other stuff that fits the moment.

It doesn't matter.  As I told my MT members, if one side is short a guy, I'll play for them.

I'm thinking of having both Master Theory and 2o2p choose a few gametypes.  If enough are present for btb, MT will probably choose our btb.net maps/settings which are sprint only with jetpack and evade pickups, 85% bloom, faster movement, recharge rate, etc.  So MLG like.

I watched some of the BTB vs MLG stream from a couple weeks ago and those settings seemed pretty fun.  Let me know if I can help get this set up, I'm still Staff Events Coordinator up in this piece! And I need to contribute, havent done anything in a while.

so what's the word Laser? is yo friends sceerd o' us?

what about this:

3 BTB matches

then the the two 8 man teams bust into two 4 man teams each

each 4 man team plays 3 matches (total of 6)

MT picks the BTB maps & games (i assume they want to show their stuff off to the general communtiy)

2o2p picks the 4v4 maps and games. (goin' all MLG on their asses)

as you are well aware, their isn't a very big BTB following here. this might entice some of more the more skilled folks here to show their faces.

if not, let's just roll with the eight we have and git'r done!

Yeah, I was waiting to see if anymore would be interested.  Many of the btb.net maps have very few vehicles on them and the ones that do, are rarely used due to their ease of destruction.  Most of the maps are pretty much MLG 8v8.  This is also my busy work week, so I haven't had time to accomplish much.  :/  The problem with the 8 or 9 interested right now is that will probably dwindle to 6 or 7 once we figure out a date, then 5 or 6 when the date comes and we have a no-show or two.  That's why I was hoping 2o2p could get around 12 interested before we start throwing around dates.

Even though I'm not down for 8v8, it's still kind of sad that we can't field a group of folks.  I completely blame Reach.

I'm more disappointed by the fact that 2o2phalo, 75+ members and counting who sign up regularly for monthly tournaments in the 25-30 participant range, can only get 4-5 willing souls to show an interest.  indecision

I can play, but would prefer something smaller than BTB...but meh.  I will even stop by the store and pick you up some teething toast and a towel to dry all your tears.

Be sure to pick up some super absorbant tampons for Trin while you're at it. You might have to pick up two boxes though. You'll find them in the lolteam slayer section.

No fun seeing that post in an otherwise great thread. I know Dixon already stepped in but I wanted to add my name to it so there's no confusion.

I, and most peeps here, understand how time consuming this is and what a huge and great job you guys do, who decide to do something like this for the community. Unfortunately the number of participants isn't connected nor equal to the effort it takes of planning and executing it. I wish it were so but it's not. People will play if they find it to their likings AND they can make room in their IRL schedule. Don't take it or make it personal because it's not.

The moral of the story is, more hugging...M O R E hugging. Got it?!!

Wow. Really?

REASONS:

1. We actually know and like each other.

2. I'm guessing super competitive BTB does not sound very fun to the drunklo clan night enthusiasts who don't care about winning but rather playing for comraderie and fun.

3. Monthly tourneys consist of smaller, evenly skilled teams.

4. I think that even if you attempt to field a strictly competive BTB 2o2p team, you'd have a difficult time finding interest, cuz BTB sucks.

You know, since we're expressing our opinions and all.

Agreed. BTB just insn't very fun in Reach. I'm not a fan of most of the larger maps.
