Advanced controller settings?

Would the guys racing with controllers let me know what advanced setings they are using, if any?

After a few quick runs of this months Rivals events it's clear the Wiseman and Corvette suck severely if you're not using a wheel.

The main ones for me are:

Accel : 5/95

Decel: 5/95

Steering: 10/90

Clutch is whatever since it is on a digital button and handbrake I set the inside as far in as possible to maybe prevent a slight touch on accident.

I also say this all the time... the wired controller is simply better. The triggers on the wireless seem to have more travel than the game sees. It seems that say around 75% of depression, it is maxed out. It feels completely different on the wired where full depression is registered in game. Sticks are about the same, but I just like the wired one better... plus is lighter.

Anyway.........

For all of you controller users, have you ever checked out KontrolFreek.com?  What they make is little joystick extenders so you have a little more travel and can get more precise movements.  I have these on my controller and they work great for all games, especially FPS games.

They have a special one just for racing games.  Here is a link: http://www.kontrolfreek.com/Sports/KontrolFreek-Speed-Freek-APEX.asp

I don't use a controller for racing games, but I do use a controller for driving in games like GTA and Mafia II.  The Kontrol Freeks are great.  Cheap at the website, but have to pay for shipping.  Also sold at Amazon.com with free shipping on orders over $25.

I like the Kontrol freak one, and it stays on all the time.  I didn't like using the Speed Freak one.

I have a wireless controller but I leave the charge cord on it and it seems to react better when its wired then when it isn't. I haven't changed any settings other than switching the clutch and ebrake.

Do you know that having the charge cord plugged into a wireless controller does NOT make it wired.  It is still comunicating with the xbox wirelessly.  You could plug that cord into your computer or any USB charger and the controller would work the same.  The only way to have a wired connection to your xbox is with a wired controller.

I didn't know that but honestly I do notice a difference. Maybe having constant current run thru it changes something I don't know but it responds faster with the cord connected. Or maybe I'm just subconciously going faster because I think its better lol.

I think this is totally wrong.  Instead of hijacking this thread with discussion on the subject I'd love to hear from you guys over here: http://www.2old2play.com/forum/group-forums/2old4forza/controller-vs-wheel

I had no idea there were advnaced controller settings.. I learn more and more about this game everytime I play I think. I race on a controlelr, and have been getting better, but I will try some of these tweaks and see if this helps at all. I recently managed to make the switch from auto clutch to Manual w/ clutch.. I think I like it a lot better now.

My Profile --> Controller Options and then hit 'X' to open them up and edit.

Word to the wise... write down your settings if you change them. If they are default now, no worries, but once you tweak them once and think about tweaking more, you should jot them down somewhere (mine is in the Forza box). Its not that critical, but I spent some time with the accel/decel ones on an herb and beer filled night and don't want to do that again.

I too am using the wired controler, used to get cramp in my left hand thumb but not now and I've noticed more travel in my excel and brake so seems a lot smother when I bother to try and get it right. Took your advice on settings so will run some hot laps to see if there is a difference but feels a lot better !
