Thanks to everyone that came out tonight to help shakedwon the process. I'll adjust the rules accordingly based on tonights process and we will kick this off next week. I'll also post who will be racing for which championship shortly
How did I make it with the fast guys and I didnt even make the room tonight (sorry about that)....Me and Stewie are nemesis so we GOT to be in the same class
I don't think it will be much fun not racing the guys I want so just scratch me please. Sorry Grim
Parcells isn't ready to give up for the same reasons (yet) but I certainly understand this sentiment and based on what I saw last night you can chalk me up for last place in the A group, I have zero chance of competing with these guys in the faster Evora car where my skills/experience drop off as the cars get faster.
On the flip side if I was in B there's a good chance I'd be heavily favored so you can't win here and it has nothing to do with the series it just happens sometimes.
Generally speaking and IMO if you have one room it is always better to just let everyone race and let the chips fall where they may, you should always end up battling the people you should be battling with. Maybe a 2 lap qualy each night with the faster drivers out first allowing everyone to start on the drop of the flag if you're considering any changes.
I'm in. Sorry I missed last night. I thought the original idea was the driver's would run both races but elect what Championship they wanted to contest in. That way they would only collect points in one event - gold or silver?
Either way, I'm in. These races are going to be great!
Grim.......chill...you got a good idea and it will work..If anything you have TOO many people for one room....Right now you have 20 people signed up....Like Snappy was saying I thought the original idea was to have everyone running for a championship in ONE car but during the other race they would drive the OTHER car...Maybe its to early in the morning for me to understand...Ill be back
I hate to bring this up, but the Elise is good enough to support it's own series. I drove it today at Infineon and it goes where you tell it, and unless you flat out mash it in the wrong corner, it's a happy camper. By this, I mean the tune you sent Grim, not just the car in general.
I do agree that part of the fun is running against who you want, and that seems to be an issue. Then again, everyone has their own idea of fun, as Prebuilt said, sorta.
Im not going to run the seperated championships if we only have 2-4 drivers competing in one of them. If we have too many faster guys running for the silver championship then it defeats the purpose of what I was shooting for. I run it just like every other series we run and have one championship points. Everyone will be in the same group and we will have two races each night and the same handicap process we always do.
Again, Was hoping to try something different but there is just no way to pull it off.
Grim, keep series running you've got great idea with both classes together worked well Saturday(my opinion)wheather that counts.
I'm sure Max; Church; would agree.
I may be the slowest but will love this series......;-)
It IS Grims series. He can assign people where he wants. And apparently they can choose not to race. I talked to Stewie and he isn't upset, he isn't militant, he just wants to have fun, and this isn't going to be fun for him. After 15 minutes, I agreed.
I signed up for Silver more for the car than anything else. I'd never driven the thing, had to go buy one after I got the tune. I looked at the sign up sheet, signed up where there were fewer people, someone said they needed more people, and I'm not where i signed up, there's a page and a half of rules, and everyone's split and I'm just going to find something else to do.
Honestly, I just don't get all the rules, and then bitching about all the effort it takes.
I also offered up a plate, asked if it was okay, was told what was needed changed, did so, sent it out, and get back something else entirely that I'm required to put on my car.
From here on out, if I have to run anything of anyone elses, right down to a freaking screw on a fender, I'm out. It's no different than Jones not wanting anyone playing with the switches on his dash (assists), and I finally get it. It's my car and I'll run it or I won't, but it's my car. And this isn't just this series, it's the future.

Holy crap you did not have an Elise in your garage :O
No, sad, I know...I had an Exige, a Carlton, two Evora's, an Elan, and that old model from way back, no Elise... BTW, I drove yours in the garage, and I like it!
And I don't want to come off all grump ass, and even I don't see how I wouldn't, but that's just where I'm at...
ugh. Im going to reply to this and then take some time off.
The intent/goal of this series was to give those guys that have not had a real chance at a championhip an opportunity to gain some experience at running for a championship. Having guys such as oldschool, Kat and others in the silver championship running would defeat that purpose as you are both too fast, As for Stewie, It sounds and looked like you guys had some good battles Saturday night and I was on the fence putting you in there but based on how things went, it seemed like a good fit. I have no problem moving you to the gold Championship group. The real problem was I just did not get enough of the right guys to race in the silver championship that are going to be there consistently and we really need 5-6 drivers in that group showing up each week otherwise its pointless.
As for the number board, I understand you sent it but I never received it and decided to make my own as it was getting late to send it out. As for not running in the series, Im not surprised. You backed out of the Iroc series because you coulndt change the paint scheme and you backed out of the AIX series because you could change cars after the season started. Thats ashame because I enjoy and look forward to racing with you.
As for this series, I'm relunctantly going to to modify this to a basic series running both cars each week and a single championship. The schedule will remain in tact. Sorry guys but the concept will just not work at this time
Grim, I've already painted 5 cars for this. I only have the two myself...
I stated before I painted for the IROC I wanted a black n gold car. I got a white n gold car, No one in their right mind would want a white n gold car. Even IROC ran flipped versions for more variety within the tight scheme. AIX, I don't wanna get into, one race isn't a season, and after I got dusted two laps in, yeah I wanted to change my car.(whatever).
It really comes down to, it shouldn't be so complicated, as demonstrated by the first couple posts, it's too long.
But, if that's what you're into run it, some will come, some won't.
I didn't see anyone signing the bottom half, so I did.
If I wanted to talk trash, I'd say Stewie's faster than Kat , he'd disagree, and they love to disagree about that, it's their fun, but it still comes down to what car, what night,/track.
I like to follow the KISS method. It tends to be easier, and generally more fun. There are guys in here if the post is more than 5 lines, their eyes roll up into their heads and they pass out...And there are others that really like every infinitesimal detail ( SNAPPY!!! ) and that is how they have fun. I get it, I can see it, I understand it, it's just not me. I have a car, its the right car, its the right build, it says Lotus on it and has my number, even has our club, which I love.
But I hate rolling starts, and to top that off, you want two rolling starts choreographed on two separate places on the track, at the same time? I have a hard time maintaining for a caution. Two buckets with a delay would do it just as easy, and people would just have to learn to get along through that first turn.
My opinion at this point it, if my team mate doesn't want to run it, then I'm going to agree with him on it. He's a pretty easy going guy.
Oldschool, with all due respect please stop responding to the thread since you're clearly not racing in it and you're writing information that is no longer true about the series with the changes Grimm decided on since Saturday's practise session and subsequent feedback (Grimms last paragraph in the post directly above yours). It's all been simplied with everyone racing against each other, your additional carping is not helping.
Your welcome
Wait till you see my red Elise, its red.
Thanks to everyone that came out tonight to help shakedwon the process. I'll adjust the rules accordingly based on tonights process and we will kick this off next week. I'll also post who will be racing for which championship shortly
Again, thanks. This is going to be fun!
So after running tonights races, Im going to go with the following placements regarding who is running for the championships
Still room for a few more. These are fun cars to drive and this should be alot of fun.
WHOA THERE KIDDO!!!!

Stewie and I are comparable, simply comes down to track/car. Any given moment we can swap the lead. I doubt he'd disagree.

You know what. fuck it. The concept doesnt work if I dont get enough people to run for the championship. So much for trying something new.

You'll never make everyone happy when running a series Grim. Trust me I know.
I'd be in, and in whatever room you wanted if I thought I could make Sat night races.

I hope your not changing it for me bro. I have zero hard feelings, my dog likes to play with me too :)
You can still count me in. I love racing both of these cars
Thing is grim you are the one running the series. Assign people as you see fit and they can choose to race or not.
Team ROFL's out.
It IS Grims series. He can assign people where he wants. And apparently they can choose not to race. I talked to Stewie and he isn't upset, he isn't militant, he just wants to have fun, and this isn't going to be fun for him. After 15 minutes, I agreed.

Saturday? Are you serious? Wait, it's Parcells...
Sorry for all this Grim! Your hard work is appreciated, please believe it.
