Destiny Cheaters Club - The Division Edition

Alright, so some of us are looking side-eyed at The Division while Destiny 2 is in a slump.  Let's post our stats and maybe coordinate some co-op adventures, maybe try out the Excursions? I'm up for about anything.

I fired up the game last night, just to check in on my character.  I was at about gear level 209.  I picked up a few quests, found the daily drop box and had myself a good time.  3 hours later I was gear level 225 and almost ready to jump up to the next World Tier.

So, what's your gear level and what are you interested in doing together?  Maybe we can gather together this Friday night?  Anybody know anything about the Excursions?  Are they worth playing?  I have all the DLC.

Wow, just tried to log in to check my stats, and had to queue (but only for a minute) to get in. The Division must be doing ok these days. My best gear score is currently 237. Friday is bad for me (subbing for Duke on his raid team the next few times while he is traveling), but most other days could possibly work. I haven't tried incursions yet, but would like to. There's always the underground and the daily hard missions to run, all fun. There is a survival game, and also a "kill waves until you die" mode. Too much stuff. I only just made it alive to the North Pier zone my last time out, but got slaughtered before I could do my little quest there. Some help would be awesome. But I'm really not picky at this point.

I'm a total noob. My character is only level 14 so I have no clue about "gear score" or "world tier". I don't have any of the expansions - just the base game, but I think it includes the new Pier area Krak mentions.

I've been taking it slow, doing all the side quests and encounters in an area before moving on to the next area. I also tend to get side tracked looking for phones, survival guides and downed drones...lol

In other words, I'm not even close to end game yet, so I could offer no help. However, if you have any low level toons you want to play, I would welcome the company - and perhaps some pointers on stuff.

That's how I played as well, digging into all the little bits and corners of th game.  I don't have an alt, I'll build one, then hopefully you can power level me some to catch up!

I can use a (new or old) alt as well. Let's give it a try. I'm committed for the next two Fridays as well as next Tuesday, but am pretty flexible otherwise. What times are good for you guys?

I should be around most evenings, but we can certainly plan to shoot some hoodie dudes with baseball bats on Saturday night.

Any other favorite immersive games? I know Deep's a big fan of Player Unknown. Fallout 3 and New Vegas was the last game(s) I spent multiple years indulging. Didn't hear as much good about Fallout 4, so never bothered.

You must have *really* liked Fallout 3. You should give 4 a try sometime. I wouldn't say the story is great, but the shooting is better than 3, and if it turns out you like protecting and building up the "towns" (small groups of settlers), you might find it fascinating. I don't know if you like the fantasy thing, but if so, Witcher 3 is not to be missed. Strong in all categories except character customization (you must play the standard protagonist, Geralt).

Also, I must mention that in the fantasy category, Monster Hunter World releases tomorrow. Any Monster Hunter fans reading this? I've never had the right platform at the right time to play a Monster Hunter game, but I've heard it involves lots of long term loot grinding (i.e. the most common D2 lack I hear complaints about these days).

I do agree with Krak in that Witcher 3 is amazing! I poured so many hours into the game and never even touched any of the DLC.

I've never played any of the Monster Hunter games, so I have no clue what it's all about, but I'm up for something new. I suppose I'll wait and see what the reviews say about the game.

I used to love the whole feeling of getting hyped for a game launch, but now I'm more of a "wait and see how broken it is" before I buy.

Monster Hunter is looking strong so far. It's been through a couple of betas (PS4 only, though), and a lot of reviews are out. It supports up to four player multiplayer. It's on my must-try list, but it might be a while before I get around to it unless I have friends that play.

I actually had to load up the game to find out because I couldn't find an online stat site.  My main character is currently 276 gear score and I have two alts that are 200-210 range.  Not a fan of the Dark Zone, but always up for skirmishes into the new area of the map and maybe some Survival.

Saturday evening works for me.  The only evening I'm for sure out for is Friday - date night.

My son is a big fan of the Monster Hunter series on his handheld devices.  He'll be pleased that it is coming to the big screen.

I got an alt up to lvl 4 yesterday.  I'll try to get a little more done before Sat.  Current plans are for a big family day, so I'm hesitant to commit too early.  I'd say 9 eastern would be the latest and 8 should be do-able.  I can post here on my status as I see how things are shaking out Sat afternoon.

While I have continued to enjoy FFXV, I'm finding that it's better in doses. I think I'm going to start in on another game that sounds like it may be like that, Assassin's Creed: Origins.  Hopefully switching between FFXV, Origins, and sprinkling in some Division co-op will keep me busy a while.

PS - I've heard the Incursions still aren't great.

Hammer, feel free to shoot me an invite if you want to run some co-op while you level your alt. I'm almost to level 15, so I'm taking it pretty slow.

Looking forward to Saturday!  Searching on the web a bit, it seems The Division does not level-scale the enemies nor the players, so it's probably most fun to make fresh alts to run together. Otherwise, if one alt is levels ahead of the others, it will be a power-leveling situation, which can be frustrating if you are the low level guy, since the high level folks will do more of the killing. Realistically, though, we probably won't all start nor stop at the same time so.... Grrr. This is harder than I thought. What is the best solution?

I am fine if you guys want to run your "end game" characters and I can just plug away on my own. We could still make a party though if you want and just hang out to chat.

I do like that this game can be rather challenging solo. These "boss" battles in the main missions can be tricky - ain't no hand holding in this game...lol

This is why I've been leveling my alt some, I want to get each wing established before jumping in with you.  I imagine if we're all within 5 or 10 levels of each other, we'll power level some and be okay.  Playing with lvl 30s and lvl 15s won't be any fun, but if Darth is 16 or 17 and I'm 6 or 7, etc I think we'll be okay.  Also, there are so many option to accomplish, we can find an activity set at a level in the middle of the group to even things out some.

I'm very interested to see how those boss battles are different with multiple players.  I so often wanted to flank or surpress, but that's so hard with only one player.  I'm looking forward to tackling these with a group.  There were quite a few bosses, especially those with flamers, that I really had to cheese to defeat.

I'm up whatever you guys want to do. My character is up to 17, so if that's too high, I would be fine to start a brand new character just so we can run together.

However, I don't want people to have to do that all on my account, so feel free to group-up with your level 30s and I can do my own thing.

We'll figure something out.

I don't mind starting up with a new character either.  I've heard that all of the patches since launch have made it worthwhile to do so.

I should be set for 8pm start at the latest (possibly earlier).  Let's run with your 17 Darth and our closest alt, with the intent of getting your 17 through the campaign and up to 30.  We'll start through on some level 10ish missions, which should keep everyone involved to some exent and still get some good power leveling.  As soon as we all jump up a bit and get closer to his 17, we can move on with new missions in Darth's world.  There is plenty to do in the game, we can find a good balance.

Great run last night guys! I felt pretty rusty at the beginning, but by the end we'd made it through three missions and my alt had gone up almost two complete levels. The mobs were tougher than I'd recalled, but also more interesting tactically, and it really is a great game for co-op play. There's a whole lot to do in The Division these days, a lot of which I've never touched, so I hope there's a next time! Favorite memory: the three club wielders of doom who kept zooming around the level  killing me immediately every respawn and almost, but not quite, wiping us time after time. We wiped in the end, but it really kept me wondering how it would work out. Ridiculous situation (but hilarious).

Yes, that whole situation with the baseball bat guys was crazy. The fact they got into the respawn area and were beating us down made it wild.

I hope to have my toon up to level 30 for our next outing, so that perhaps you guys can run your real characters.

Good times, though.

So, if you are looking for an immersive HUGE shooter, the give The Division a try. It's what I wanted Destiny to be when Bungie first announced it back in the day.

I had a lot of fun Saturday night, I think we just saw hints of what this game can bring as we get more adjusted/leveled.  Unfortunately, I can't play this weekend, but if you guys get to meet up, go for it!

I'm really looking forward to experience some of the new, free, end game content that should be available to all of us.

Zikan, what modes are there from any of the paid DLCs that are worth playing co-op?

From memory, I believe the missions where you ride the subway to get to them (from the basement of the main base) are good with a group.  You can chain several of the together and set up modifications to the game play for each encounter.  I haven't done much with the PVP yet.  Hoard mode is also more fun when there's more than one of you :)

I think there's plenty to do without the season pass. Horde mode (never been!), bounties, supply drops, in addition to the coop missions with difficulty scaling, and the Dark Zone.

With regard to the season pass content, the subway thing you're referring to is Underground, I think. In addition to modifications, the levels are procedurally generated, so there's a lot of gameplay there. There's also Survival, which was fun single player. Would love to try that co-op. And I'd be up to try the incursions, whether they are top-notch or not, just to see what they're like. We could always dial back the difficulty and blast through.
