Bungie has some kind of big news update on Wed. It will be in lieu of the Osiris live broadcast.

Perhaps they are on the ropes over the whole XP throttling built into Destiny 2 that most of us dummies didn't know about.

Might be interesting read.

They ARE on the ropes over the XP thing; that's exactly why they decided to hold off on the Osiris broadcast.

I read an article on the XP issue yesterday. I don't really understand what the big deal is. Folks are complaining about progression being limited in certain activities, history already shows these same folks would be complaining that they hit max power too fast and now have nothing worth doing.

I have really come to despise the global friggin' Bungie community. Bunch of whiny little b**ches will ALWAYS find something to complain about.

I assume it will be the changes coming for Season 2. I hope we see some major changes, but I'm not holding my breath. I wish I was more excited for the Curse of Osiris, but it seems rather lacking.

Right now my friends list is rather sparse on Destiny players. I mean, I still haven't beaten the raid and this makes me kind of sad, but seeing how the loot isn't that great, I'm not too bothered...lol

I'd rather Raids were more enjoyable than a source of powerful weapons. For me, Leviathan is the worst Raid I've experienced. It seems to have been meant to foil fireteams made up of old people. Mostly just synchronized button pushing and running in squirrel cages. At one point I was chuckling at Adem West falling behind on killing his Psion in the Gauntlet while mine was languishing from lack of attention. My attention span is so short now maybe I 'should' be in a squirrel cage.

Leviathan is a very much fireteam dependent. I don't mind this to a certain extent, but it shouldn't be to the point activities can't be completed if one person doesn't do their job.

King's Fall was also very technical, but it was still fun - and was my least favorite D1 raid. I thought Wrath was a good blend of mechanics while still allowing for individual skill to shine. Aksis required a lot of coordination, but it still felt reasonable.

Admittedly I have very little time in Leviathan, so perhaps I would have a better opinion of it if I'd played it more and had a completion.

Overall, I guess we'll see what today's blog shares about Bungie's vision of Destiny. I think this is make-or-break time for many of us.

Yes, Leviathan is very much a fireteam dependent raid. The encounters not only require the team to be able to shoot and kill, but to coordinate efforts and good communication is essential - not only knowing when and what to call out, but when to be silent.

Having cleared the raid several times, I have found that encounters can be completed even if one person doesn't do their job perfectly. There is some amount of forgiveness built in (e.g. if someone shoots the wrong triangles in Gauntlet or gets seen by the dogs too early in the Gardens). I found it extremely frustrating at first but with more time in, learned the encounters and what works for my capabilities. And now I don't find Leviathan any more difficult than King's Fall or Wrath (Wrath is harder IMO).

Seems to me like Bungie tried to please everyone with the result that Destiny 2 is too hard in places for the casuals and too easy for the hardcores.

Basing this on what little of the toxic complaining I can stomach at Destiny Reddit and on personal experience (echoing Deep's frustration with the Leviathan Raid)

I didn't see anything in that post that will make the members of the community jump for joy. Expect more salt.

My two cents: Bungie knows that they don't have the resources, financial or intellectual, to keep Destiny uniformly compelling year-round, especially for dedicated players. What they'd ideally like to make are games just like Destiny 2. A game that is fun for a while. You play through it, you get to a satisfying end point, you stop playing until the next expansion. So to me, the blog post yesterday really is a significant change in direction. They are putting more "infinite grind" elements (e.g. weapons with a roll) back into the game. This should improve the quality of life for some of the most hardcore players, and maybe improve the Destiny community atmosphere a bit. But I'm not sure it does anything for me. I find "infinite grind" fun in Diablo, but not so much in Destiny. My main issue is that I'd really like to finish the raid at least once, but haven't found a way to do it within my own time and energy limitations. Maybe someday.

In reading through yesterday's update I couldn't help but think "didn't we basically have all of this in D1?". I understand the team that made D2 and the "live" team for D1 were somewhat separate groups, but one would think there would have been better communication about what worked in D1.

Bungie should have learned that many in the Destiny community want to grind and play nonstop. I think they initially envisioned Destiny being a game people would play for a bit and then come back for the expansions (as Krak mentions). However, it became obvious that people wanted to play all the time and grind for the best loot. Now with D2 it feels, in many ways, almost worse than Y1 Destiny.

I enjoy the grind. I enjoy grinding for "best in slot" gear and having a reason to keep playing the same stuff over and over. Destiny 2 just doesn't have that for me right now. I think this is what frustrates some many of the "hardcore" players. People want to play, but the incentive is just not there to log-in every day.

The update will give us some "new" stuff to do, but I expect the salt mines will be back in full production by the beginning of 2018...lol

Darth is right. Bungie was certainly aware that some players were going to be unhappy with the loss of infinite grind going from D1 to D2. I presume that group is probably a small (though vocal) minority of players. I'll bet Bungie was hoping they could just ignore the complaints from this group, but now realizes that they can't. Have you guys been following the story about EA and Battlefront 2 (fun game, by the way, despite EA's missteps)? I wonder if Bungie is afraid that the ugly mood in the gaming community that has been kicking EA's butt might spread in their direction.

I have gotten so bored with D2 that I have gone back and started grinding HALO campaign missions on the toughest settings -- Mythic LASO (legendary all skulls on).  Takes a lot of practice and time but when a mission is completed on these settings it is a major accomplishment and very satisfying.  Hopefully the DLC will peak my interest again, but for how long?

I don't recall a single time they've actually completed on time since D2 came out, either.

Oh happy day, I've managed to get all three of my characters up to 304 just in time for the cap level increase on Tuesday. Considering I don't play a lot, do very little crucible playing, little nightfall, and practically no raid stuff, I consider myself lucky!

Can't believe the expansion is here already. Seems like D2 released so recently. Must be getting old.... I feel very weird about the expansion. This is the least excited I've ever been before a Destiny release, yet my brain tells me I will definitely have a good time. Please explain this strange feeling to me.

Your feeling may be best compared to the Star Trek theme tune.

I feel the same way Krak. I am waiting to see what is actually in this "expansion" before I make a purchase. Exactly the reason why I didn't jump on the Expansion Pass bandwagon.

Ran the first mission in the DLC this afternoon.  Lord I hope they get more entertaining.  I was totally underwhelmed.

If your TV supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) and you are experiencing input lag problems turn it off for the HDMI port your XB1X is plugged into. Not all 4K HDR TVs will have this problem or it may be worse. My TV is a LG UJ6500, a 2017 model. Input lag for most LG 2017 4K TV have been very good and in the 16 microsecond range with HDR on. I wasn't expecting problems but here they are. I'll now have to take my fight to LG. It's so disappointing because D2 is remarkably gorgeous in HDR.

PS4 HDR is so bad there is a note on the Bungie help on Twitter. "We are actively investigating reports of issues impacting HDR availability on PlayStation 4. Stay tuned for more info."

Really enjoying the look of the DLC, but have only just started playing it. The morale at Destiny Reddit is still low (I don't even bother to look at the Bungie forums). I don't see a single 100% positive posting on the front page as yet.
