I liked the D1 final version of NF the best. I could go in solo and take my sweet time or team up and face slightly more difficult situations. I enjoyed the experience 95% of the time.

In D2, speeding through a level avoiding everything to save time only to be sent to orbit by some ridiculous mob or boss is beyond stupid.

I predict major changes to NF before the new year.

There has been a lot of discussion around the Nightfalls and the timers that have been put in place. I don't necessarily mind the timers - especially when they give us a way to extend the time - but it feels like Bungie is taking the easy way out in an attempt to make it more challenging.

I always thought the very first iteration, of being returned to orbit if the whole team wiped, was the best solution.

In fact, why not make the timer a rotating modifier that we didn't see every week? This I wouldn't mind so much.

Granted the game is still very new, so Bungie may just be testing the waters to see how much salt we pour in said water...lol

I may go pour salt at b.net. In the mean time, I may solo NF until I really understand what's happening.

Bungie has us doing mice in cage wheel chores. effers.

Seems to be a regular thing now on Mondays.  Not liking this.  Taking away a lot of "play" time  on a day I am usually available to play, especially when they have to "extend" the maintenance period (like the first Monday).  Guess they don't want to pay third shift wages to do this early morning.  Btw,  all the individual Halo titles are available on the backwards compatible list...just saying...

After near misses lining up this week's nightfall with you guys, I tried out the guided NF beta last night. It was an interesting experience. The "guides" had a closed party going which they did not invite me to, so no voice comms. They had higher light than I did (294, I think. I was high 280s). I assume they were younger, because they had the reflexes and aggression of rabid squirrels. Their play was generally quite good. I revived them plenty, but then that's what you have to expect with aggressive play in a nightfall. They ignored shooting the time-extender thingees, so I took care of that. It was a bit of a cliff-hanger, but just when I was sure we were going to fail, the boss went down. Not positive how much time was on the clock, but the last time I checked, it was at three seconds! It was an overall positive experience. How bad can 15 min of playing Destiny be, after all? I'd do it again....but I'd much rather run them with you folks.

One thing that's not so nice that I almost forgot: the queue for the guided NF was 18 min last night, and you need to keep an eye on the screen because when you reach the front, if you're not there to accept quickly, you will be dropped from the queue. Happened to me the first time, and was quite annoying since I was right there next to the Xbox the whole time. They need to add a loud chime or something to alert you.

Ugh, the NF experience sucks. The timer scheme sucks. Super strong sniper ads suck. It's not fun for me, at this time. There were always some rough NF in D1 but then the next week might bring an easy one.

I suck at D2 NF. I feel so impotent in NF that I think I should save my efforts until I hit max power.

Sorry I missed you last night Krak, I was out longer than anticipated.I've heard similar relations about the Guided Games as you stated, so I'm not surprised (but some positive reports too). Kudos to you for trying though.

I'd be up for trying it tonight if you need to run it on another character.

Have heard nothing but grief about this week's NF so glad to hear you got through it. I was planning on trying out Guided Games tonight but hate the idea of just having to sit idle waiting for a match.

Have to earn tokens, just like everything else. It does give credit for the Call To Arms and Clan XP requirements.

I've, for the most part, always enjoyed Iron Banner. However, with this new loot system in D2, last night's banner activities were a waste of time for me.

I picked up 3 engrams from Saladin and got 3 of the IB SMGs and a couple of pieces of non-IB gear. This means what I REALLY wanted - the IB armor - didn't drop for me at all. My desire to grind this game is already at a low point and this doesn't help when you have limited time to play.

Ugh...

This.

Origins is looking so good, might completely pull me away from D2.

Same is true when you have a lot of time.  The only thing I have going for me in IB now is the season challenge.  Note that one can get a daily challenge for each character each day so this is not so tough for someone with a lot of time on their hands but not so much for someone playing one character or has limited playing time.

I'm not very motivated by cosmetic items, but I have been enjoying the matches themselves more than I remember doing in D1. Given the lack of compelling rewards, I'm sure I'll be IBing less in D2 than I did in D1, but that might not be such a bad thing.

I finally got my first piece of IB gear last night. I turned in 3 more packages last night and got the IB Auto, Fusion (very nice) and Leg Armor.

So, 6 packages in and I finally got one piece of gear.

Super disappointed in IB.  It was pretty much the only crucible I would play in D1.  Drops are too low, items are too rare, many of the challenges are too difficult (no way am I going to get 5 kills in one life, which then makes the drops even lower).  I'm not sure why I'm playing at this point.

On the other hand, I dropped out of IB last night and started Ori and the Blind Forest.  Really liked that...

I am also disappointed in the Iron Banner in D2. No gear rewards that were higher than my power level. I thought they said Iron Banner was an end game activity. Seemed like a waste of time. Hope they change things.

14 packages in and I've gotten 14 unique items plus at least 3-4 duplicates. Have gotten something from every package.

Yep, that’s me.

Most of the weapons aren’t very good but they definitely dropped...

I'm pretty much out of IB. A lot of time, little to show for it and teams down to 4 from 6. It all spells lose to me. Patrolling and getting nothing is more enjoyable.

I'll do my Crucible weekly stuff for power increases. That's about it.

I think I turned in 15 packages all on the same character and received 3 pieces of IB armor. The weapons I got were not really anything of interest or terribly unique. I do like the Fusion, but I've rarely met a fusion I didn't like...lol

I might grind out a couple more packages tonight, but overall this was a HUGE disappointment. I don't really care about the power level, I've got plenty of stuff to use for infusion, I just wanted the armor set for at least ONE of my characters. Is that too much to ask?

Come on Bungie!

In 10 packages, I got the head, gauntlets, and cloak for my hunter. I'm thinking that given how hard the armor is to collect, the remaining pieces will still be available for future IBs.

The thing that was the most fun for me with Iron Banner in D1 was the fact that lots of people always came out to play, especially folks I don't get to play much with in PVP, and you could usually get into a full 6 person fireteam for some fun. Didn't worry too much about the gear, since getting that stuff is just part of the grind. The 4v4 diminishes but doesn't eliminate that.

I'll probably have full armor sets for all of my toons by the end of the next 2 IB's but I'm gonna keep playing IB when it's up, because I enjoy PVP.

I know, Bungie shill. They promised me a Destiny tote bag.

I actually kind of enjoyed playing IB.  Kd consistently above 1 and getting the daily challenges done for each character in no more than 3 matches.  An investment of 2 hours a day generally lead to 2-3 challenges completed.  Might have been easier because I was playing in the mornings.  Don't know but this IB seems much easier than any IB in D1.  Much less grinding.  The only issue I had with the challenges was the 5 kill streak.  Takes away from control team play.  The hardest challenge was/is the 3 double kills but still doable using a sword as power weapon and/or smart utilization of supers, noting that I played solo throughout this IB.

As for goodies, I have gotten a few armor pieces for each character (still looking for helmets, dammit) and some interesting weapons but all capped at 293, which doesn't do me much good running at 301/302 unless I want to give up a higher leveled armor piece/weapon.  That is probably the biggest problem with the IB rewards system.  Thought I would get a higher leveled something when I hit the 10 package threshold but unless I get something at the end of the season, the only thing I "may" have gotten was an emblem for the character I was using when I hit the threshold.  Bfd.  Bottom line is that it was kind of fun but less rewarding than in the past.

Other than the reset flash point and clan XP challenges offering "powerful" gear there doesn't seem to be much end game stuff going on now that provides good rewards.  Sure there is Nightfall and raiding but very few people doing either (and successfully).  For me then, once I grind out a little on Tuesdays, the rest of the week is "meh."
