Battlefield 3 re-issue hits in Sept for $60

A new version of Battlefield 3, the Battlefield 3 Premium Edition, will arrive this September, executive producer Patrick Bach announced during EA's Gamescom press conference. As the title implies, the Premium Edition includes a membership to the Battlefield Premium service which, in turn, grants access to new expansions, including Back to Karkand, Close Quarters, and the upcoming Armored Kill, End Game and Aftermath.

The Premium Edition also features the "Multiplayer Head Start Kit," which includes "15 different weapons, gadgets and vehicle upgrades." The Battlefield 3 Premium Edition will launch on PC, Xbox and PS3 this September for $70 in North America, €60 in Europe and £50 in the UK.

LOL

Whats is fucked up is that I still have to pay for two more map packs and fuckers buying it now get them for free. What makes it worse nobody is going to want to buy a used copy of Bf3.

This is really a great way to screw over loyal fans.

SO yeah, FUCK MOH, I hope they choke on that shit.

This is funny. I railed against this in the PPC forums and all I got was BS because you can't say anything bad about BF3.

Now I'm really glad I got rid of this game.

I'm just giving Fat a hard time. It's really kind of sad that some of the big players are putting out pricing schemes like this. I don't expect them to make content for free, but this alienates a lot of consumers.

The more new blood they bring in, the longer it is before I have to find another game. The marketing/business side of me has been impressed with their moves.

Like Dew said, these people will be getting a game that leans heavily on its ranking system and is 11 months old. But, hey, for an extra $40, they can buy the Ultimate Shortcut Bundle and get everything except the chick-magnet rank symbol!

The chick magnet unlock is like a  few hendred thousand points after you unlock the CITV for the skid loader.

Uh, what? I was promised this was the case.

So, I went to Tank's link and started watching the video. I couldn't help but LOL at the guy's own reaction to what slipped out of his mouth:

Whether it's Dice, Treyarch, or who ever, do you really believe that they have nothing to do with it? This type of revenue model is planned and agreed to by all involved. I'm sure Dice has a contract which states that they are entitled to a percentage of DLC revenues. Dice and other developers would be crazy to not agree to this.

It's not a developers job to set prices or plan revenue models. That's what the publisher does. Developers get paid for what they make, and when they meet milestones, they get an advance on royalties. They may get their % of revenue from sales, but again, that is determined by the publisher.... who funded the entire project

Developers are always getting screwed by the publishers

They are selling a brand new model with leather seats, dvd navigatioon, redesigned exterior, and it costs excatly the same as your car with cassette player, cloth seats, and a smaller engine that you bought only 5 months ago.

No, same car, same make, same model, same year. They need to get the cars off the lot, and they know they can't do that at the same price. I got to ride my car for 11 months while they were hitching rides.

Actually, it's the same model. They're desperate to get it off the lot. And you've since upgraded all of those things yourself. You had your pick of getting them separately, but you went with the bundle package to save a little money.

Besides, you've got your radio set up perfectly!

Looks like EA decided to drop the price to to $59.99 for this 'everything' re-issue

EA has knocked $10 off its Battlefield 3 re-release, the company announced today. Battlefield 3 Premium Edition was first announced back in August as a $69.99 package, but the publisher has reduced the price of admission to $59.99.

Battlefield 3 Premium Edition combines DICE's latest shooter with a Premium membership, necessary to access all of the game's expansions such as the previously released Back to Karkand and Close Quarters, this week's vehicle-based Armored Kill, and the next two packs set to drop later this year, Endgame and Aftermath. A "Multiplayer Head Start Kit" is also included in the package, unlocking "15 different weapons, gadgets and vehicle upgrades" in-game to fast-track newbies to the front lines.

Battlefield 3 Premium Edition is available today on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Two things, first, if you want to make some room on your FL for fellow BF players there's a FoF list somewhere in this forum, second there is a site-wide mixer every tuesday starting at 9PM CT, come check it out as soon as you get your copy.
