I would assume, probably every which way.  Of course, the mechanic of MWO, where scout mechs may actually be worth piloting long-term, may upset a lot of standard organizations.  There are a ton of groups out there left over from Mechwarrior 4/MekTek; and about a million that seem to have popeed up on the forums (Mercs).  I think it'd be easier for us, and more fun, to stick with one of the houses...Kurita is fine with me for that purpose.  Plus, we're guarenteed numbers, etc.

Also guaranteed random tools joining in. ;)

That being said, I don't really care, just hoping to play with some people that are reasonably adult and, you know, have lives.

early access Aug7th. ughhhh I don't know if I will b able to afford a new comp by then...  I want the game now but can't afford it now lol. Is it worth pre-ordering if you don't get into the early access? I was thinking of going legendary and getting 4 mechs plus give that boost those guys will need in the beggining. You know like for food to feed there spawn. But ughh.  Oh well, will figure something out.

Depending on how long/much you play, it could still be worth it. Each of the founders mechs has a +25% bonus to in-game money earned with them, forever.

I'm not certain about the $120 package, as that's a big chunk to spend on an unknown game, but I guess if you look at it like a collector's edition, maybe it's ok? Then again, you don't have to pick just one mech...

I don't beleive there has been a difinitive word or not that the premium accounts will become active from Aug. 7th and start towars expiration from that date. It would seem a crappy thing to do for those who can't start playing from the day the Founders Beta starts. Logically it should start from the day you actively start playing.

You're right Polteg, it's better to see it as a collectors package. It comes with many advantages you'll not be able to get again. You could do as I'm doing, investing bit by bit. You've got a little time, they are selling upgrades for the founders packs. You can buy the next level wait and buy a higher one.

So let's settle for alligance to House Kurita, still want to come to a consensus for a name four our little band of merry old mechwarriors.

11th Ghost seems right up our alley.

I say we take one of the canon unit names.

I'm fine with Kurita. Good philosophy, bordered by multiple factions to play against, and possibly a first crack at the clans depending on how that's implemented. I don't think we could use the 11th Ghost, as even unknown canon units aren't permitted by some of the dev posts (Thousands of names that can't be used according to one post, if I recall correctly).

Draconis Combine 11th Ghost Defence, sign me up for that group. I am honored to be serving with you all. If that name goes through with the DEV's.

Raven don't get your hopes up yet. I'm mostly just playing around with design ideas.

Sorry about that...may have misread the post about canon units.  Surely, we can claim affiliation...there are enough sub-units out there anyway.

An exerpt from an admin (Bryan Ekman) comment on a thread concerning claiming Clan/IS units:

Players will NOT be able to claim Canon Units as their own. When it comes to Mercenary Units/Corps/Companies, these names will not be available during MC creation. Trying to circumvent the naming system will result in the Merc Corp being renamed/denied.

Faction Units are being handled slightly different. When a player aligns themselves with one of the major factions, say House Kurita, they will have the opportunity to join famous house Units as the rank up by earning loyalty points. Some house Units will require additional feats of excellence and challenges to achieve before membership is granted. Since these Units are not run by the players, and we can reserve/restrict access to very active/famous Units for sake of preserving the BattleTech timeline.

Our general stance on player run merc Units is simple - create your own legacy! It's very unfair for players to stake ownership over a Canon unit, and creates a host of politic and pr issues. So we're avoiding the complexities and edge cases associate with players assuming the role of these Units by encouraging you to forge your own destiny.

Sounds good.  In that case, we'll be able to join the units in Kurita at some point...cool.  "DCMS Old Dragons" ... or the latin DCMS Serpens Antiquui (I think that's the plural for Old Serpent...ah the internet as my only source of Latin knowledge).

The Kanji in the series of 4 is "Dragon", the ODBG as I call it is the symbols of OLD DRAGON BATTLE and GROUP.

I'm all for going up for the 11th ghost division. Let's just have our lance inside that division be ours.

Let me work on another here, that includes the 11th and ODBG.

The artwork looks great. I like the sound of Old Dragon Battle Group... Dragons get better with age.

I hope the 11th ghost lance works out, what ever happens I will always support the groups ideas.

I actually LOVE the Jagermech.  One of my favorites.

Kurupt, could you start another thread telling us what we actually need to do for our pilots in MWO to form up our group?  Are we supposed to set our faction preference to Draconis Combine?  Anything else?

I haven't read anything to that point as of yet, by all means go ahead and set your flag to house Kurita. But I don't think they will actually be requiring that you declare an alligance to the house or merc corp of your choice until official release.

Mhal9000 had previously posted that he has a Vent (Ventrillo?) server we can use, all we had to do was contact him with a request for the password. I have done that, but have yet to hear from him.

What is everyone's MWO forum name? I think it would be good to have everyone added to friends, because grouping will probably be tied to the friends list somehow. Community warfare won't be implemented at launch so the friends list is the only other way I can imagine playing as a group will be organized.

My MWO name is Divine Retribution.

A lot of people were willing to join up in the Kurita forum but not many folks showed up here. It's hard to tell how large the group will be once launch comes around. Hopefully Mhal9000's Vent offer still stands because privately hosted servers have an 8 person limit. A full 12 v 12 or multiple smaller battles would require more than one server or renting a server, if we have enough players in the group.

Interesting. This thread seems to have some info indicating that Merc companies won't generally fight House units.

I think a lot of that is speculation. The developers are still working on the community warfare part of the game and it won't be included in launch. We'll just have to wait and see how it develops after launch. Hopefully merc factions will be able to fight with or against factions, or two separate games will emerge, and merc corps players will be very limited in the games they can play.

Added everyone to friends that have posted so far.

Yeah, there was something quoted in there that looked less speculate-y, but upon further reading it wasn't necessarily fact. It does seem odd that they'd actually split the playerbase, as that would reduce interaction rather than increase it/allow everyone to play.
