New F1 thread suckas!
24 days til Australia
Okay so F1 has begun their second series of testing and its not looking too bright for the Renault powered cars. Seems Red Bull has been suffering from catching fire too since they like to design a tight rear (thats an easy one).
Also just read where tire blankets are going to be banned starting in 2015. If memory serves me correct didn't they try that once before?
Yeah the Red Bulls are having fun. Good times watching though lol
Have you played with the interactive videos on this artical!!
They are CRAZY!!!
http://jalopnik.com/play-with-this-street-view-style-3d-camera-on-the-ne...
Like seriously just play the video and you can move the camera a full 360 degrees while the car is moving etc. Crazy shit.
That is freaking awesome! Of course Mercedes is my wife's fav team so we had to watch it like five times.
Very cool - So who's goneout and compared some cruising lap times now....
Cant wait to hear the new V6 at full song.
So far everyone is still running for number of laps and not speed. Hamilton said they may start trying to up the pace but I don't think any have really pushed their cars yet. Red Bull I think would just be happy getting their car running more than just one or two laps at a time.
@Zombie same here man I can't wait to go to Austin and hear them.
In or aroung Texas are ya? We here in Indy couldnt market the race well enough to keep it,plus the whole tire fiasco. And the track sucks when you compare. But the next year I got free tickets out of it! Went to every race, man I loved it when they would line up on the grid and try to spin the rear tires. With the TCS retarding the engine that was the loudest shit you ever heard! Man I wish I still had PC (I do all this from my XBone) I could post some great photos.
I'm in Oklahoma. I lived in Houston for the past four and half years and went to the opening race over in Austin. We sat at turn 11 and it was awesome. This year we're hoping to get seats down around turn 15, seems a lot more action goes on there.
Watching the race as i type. In a sad sort of way GT6 cars sound similar to F1 cars these days but I'm not sure if I feel good for GT6 or bad for F1...sigh :(
I was thinking the same thing. The new F1 Engine sounds horrible especially from the "in car" camera point of view.
You now can hear the tires when leaving the pits and aggressive braking in the corners.
Not if you turned off the volume because the engine sounds hurt the ears!
Actually the sound is less likely to hurt your ears
. The F1 scream made you feel the power, todays F1 sound just made them look slow.
Yea even my wife said the engines just don't sound as good. Not only that but the way the breaks work now just seems like its more trouble than anything for the drivers.
Well just read this mornings news and I see that Riccardo was stripped of his 2nd place finish. I'm a Ferrari fan but I hope Red Bull gets that overturned. Sounds like FIA is basing their decision soley off of their fuel meter. My understanding is that their meter had issues all weekend not only on Red Bull's cars but on several others also. I also read that the Australian promoters are upset and looking at a breach of contract with FIA over the race.
I was and am still excited at the new season, especially to see it mixed up a bit from the Vettal/Red Bull we win everything season it was last year. Now though I'm a little afraid that they are hurting the sport because with the money invested by the teams I don't see FIA just scrapping the V6's and going back to V8's. I would like to see them take all the electronic crap off though, if I want to watch Prius' race I'll take a friend to a local Toyota dealership and we'll "test" drive a couple.
On the Red bull guys getting DQ they was warned thought the race that they need to reduce the Fuel Flow but R/B basically said your shit is wrong ours is right and stuck with it.
Finished the race FIA said we told you so now your DQ. Have a good day.
I have heard they cannot appeal the action as the rule book apparently states you can not appeal against any certified FIA part issues and readings.
But as the FIA said they was warned thought the race but chose to ignore them, so
Yep they released an outline of the steward meeting. They apparently gave them specific instructions that would have prevented the DQ, when Red Bull didn't follow those they even warnd them during the race to correct the issue and Red Bull still didn't. So ya tough shit Red Bull.

just finished watching the first V8 supercars weekend and the F1s just dont come close much better racing
Gonna have to see if I have a channel that broadcast that here. I know they race in Austin also and I would love to go see them. Just looked at tickets for F1 in November so now I'm having to round up enough for two tickets since my wife is into F1 now.
It's pretty hard to compare v8 super cars to f1, there completely 2 different types of racing, until they start using the gt6 fantasy redbull things there will never be that bumping and rubbing action you see in tintops. I flew down to austin last yr to watch the v8s and it was a blast especially 6th st ;)
v8s sounded nice, but the gt3 support race was absolutely deafening....some of them sounded like bloody monster trucks lol

as for seeing them in North America your sol ATM
Bottas had a great drive. Shame that Massa got knocked out at turn 1. It's good to see WIlliams doing well again, at least for the time being.
Best F1 race I have ever seen. It helped that I watched the entire thing with good quality headphones. The engine sounds are great, they have that base like hum of the old style F1 cars from the Senna era.
That's OK Craig, just start watchng more F1 races I guarantee you'll see a much better race in due time.
I watched several of the races during the 2012 season, and all of them last year. I got tired of seeing Vettel win everything.
Just read an article today I guess Red Bull isn't getting any support from other teams on the grid. Other teams have said that there are some issues but that they followed the rules, R/B is basically saying there are some issues so we did it our way. I don't think they are going to get this one overturned, or much sympathy for that matter. I know in the steward meeting notes I think it showed where FIA warned them like three times to stop using their meter readings.
Looking forward to the next race though, even without the sound I though the race was pretty interesting.
Holy crap what a race this weekend!! Not sure if Nico finally gave up on trying to pass Lewis or if there was some offline radio transmission to back off but man what a race.
I couldn't help but chuckle when Vettal was told to move over for Ricciardo. I be there was some interesting words being said in that helmet. Also I juts finished reading where Maldonado got a 5 grid penalty for his incident. I felt like it should have been more since that was a completely uncalled for move on his part. Ricciardo got a 10 grid penalty in Malaysia and his incident I don't think was anywhere near as bad as Maldonado's.
Anyways despite the complaints about the sound this season is shaping up to be a great one to watch.
Just finished watching this race....awesome stuff. Plenty of driver partners racing each other including Mercedes which was fantastic.
I thought Maldonado got a stop and go penalty for his dumb-ass move in the Bahrain race??? That coupled with a 5 place grid penalty sort of evens out no?
It just seems weird to me that Ricciardo got a stop and go penalty and a 10 grid penalty for his wheel coming lose as he pulled away from his box. It did not come off and he didn't make it but maybe a 100 feet.
Maldonado tried to force himself into the turn where there was no opening and flipped a car and only gets knocked down 5 slots ontop of the stop and go. To me he put a person's life in way more danger than Ricciardo did and isn't getting punished as harshly.
Also I just read where there seems to be a shake up and some heads rolling at Ferrari. I think they needed some changes but I don't see thier car somehow competing much this year.
What seemed weird to Parcells was last years Monaco race when Perez dive bombed numerous people including his team mate into the chicane coming out of the tunnel yet the stewards never penalized him for such a dickish move...maybe because every driver he did it to was better than him and knew better than to trust the rookie with his bonzai move from the moron which made it look "fair" to the stewards, i suppose, but I wasn't immpressed with the lack of a penalty that was clearly bullshit dive bombing, the guys we race with on Thursday's know better than that...ahh...
Anyways reason for bringing the thread to the forefront is to acknowledge the genius move by Rosberg in today's qualifying...Sitting on the pole with next to no time left in Q3 and pushing it hard enought to make it look like an accident when you outbrake yourself into Mirabeau causing a yellow to secure pole was pure genius!!! Well, Parcells was very amused by the whole situation if nothing else.
Coverage in the uk is bullshit (sky sports F1) it more like the Lewis Hamilton show. Last year it was boring having the red bulls doing well according to sky f1 this year Hamilton is in the fastest car and all is great it's not boring now. It may be just me but I can't get an understanding of the rules why can one car have 80hp more than an other and this is supposed to be the pinical of motor sport should all cars not have a hp limit to stick to. And having an interview with Hamilton at every fucking track is fucking boring there are 21 other fucking drivers fur fuck sake stop talking to the same asshole at every track
