Halo 4 after the next gens launch?
Anyone planning to stick with Halo 4?
I'm excited about PItfall CTF hitting Team Throwdown in a few weeks, but it'll take more to keep me around after Xbox One.
There hasn't been much press about Halo 5, especially with COD Ghosts and Battlefield 4 being launch titles. I wonder if this will be the final nail with Halo 5 still being a year out.
I am finding it harder and harder to stick with H4.
I feel like the biggest impact to H4's population will be when Titanfall launches. This is one of the games that might tempt me into buying a XB1. I know it will also be on the 360, but this game looks amazing and might tempt me toward a new console.
Then we'll have Destiny some time next year and that will surely hit the Halo population hard.
However, it's never too early to start hyping the next Halo game. Give us something to keep us going 343!
I expect 2old2play member interest will dwindle a bit as XB1 are acquired in November. The big hits will be in January from Christmas gifts and when TITANFALL releases. It wouldn't matter how good Halo 4 is, the decline will still happen. People have limited time to play. As the Thursday night Halo crowd dwindles, I'll be thinking about how to re-purpose the time slot.
TITANFALL may be one of those fast selling but limited lifespan games. We don't know what legs it will have in MM and it doesn't have campaign.
DESTINY is definitely designed to have long legs and anyone who gets absorbed, will be there for awhile.
The next HALO is a wild card. It can't compete with these other new games using the same old formulae.
Halo can't compete now, so I think they need to delete the new crap and bring back old school matchmaking social/ranked lists. That's what kept me playing.
343i has to make a game that sells to the largest applicable demographic and then hang on to the hardcore fans as long as possible via MM, DLC and episodic content. At this point I am mostly hoping 343i just comes out with campaign and episodic content. Trying to compete in the multiplayer venues on XB1 seems doomed to fail. Maybe 343i will break the multiplayer portion out and sell it separately. Maybe get a contractor to do it.
I'm not a vanilla halo guy though. I don't mind armor abilities (aside from jetpack breaking maps...ugh).
What has diminished halo is the lack of social and competitive population. Reach had arena and social. Though the arena was really only slayer, it was still there. 343i should have taken arena and ran with it, tweaking the formula for objective games. but they didn't. They abandoned the competitive aspect of halo. So it's only social now.
CSR is a sham when JIP drops someone 2 "ranks", and still went very positive in a game. But the formula does not factor in percentage of play time, only top 2 players per team.
I could have VERY easily tweaked the arena formula for a team objective playlist. I even submitted info to Bungie and 343i back in the day. They never had a rating for objective games. That's sad to me. The idea behind the Arena was fantastic. An onyx player would play amongst other onyx players (45-50 in H3). The gold peeps played other gold peeps (40-44), and so on and so forth. It was pretty awesome.
Now you have me, playing against "lower" CSR people, and getting hatemail for whooping on them while trying to achieve a 50 CSR in SWAT. [img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/1270345_621698634... I've had a 48 in SWAT 5x now, and have been promptly dropped to a 46 5x as well after a JIP. The pic was the immediate game after a 2 CSR drop.
There are lots of things that NEED fixed. I can deal with Armor Abilities. I can't deal with a company completely ignoring a major portion of the population who kept the franchise a household "name", and refused to play all of the Call of Duty games. Then they copied a large portion of Call of Duty stuff, and many people "abandoned ship" because CoD does it better.
You are probably right though, I'm probably never going to be happy with what 343i releases. They said "trust us", and I did and got taken on empty promises and expectations that were left unmet.
Halo Reach and Halo 4 made me quit gaming for several years. Not because of lofty expectations, but because they flatout sucked and bored nearly everyone to tears. We're way off talking ideals. How about a game that holds its appeal after 10 minutes for starters. I have extremely low expectations for Halo 5 and it'll probably be the first Halo I pass on. In the meantime, Halo 4 is just good enough to play until November. Sorry to be negative, but that's just my honest opinion.
Titanfall looks like it takes the best from Halo, CoD, and Gears. It's going to be the new hotness for competitive MP, I think.
Unless H5 really steps up and takes notes from the fans, they're toast.
Honestly once X1 drops I'm only going to have time for one system for the most part. I've been taking this year to catch up on all the games I have left to finish before I move on.
I'm liking ricochet, I just hope they have more maps for it soon, pit get's me juicey only so many times.
Yep. In addition to Pitfall, we will have Haven, Adrift, Solace, Monolith and Skyline.
