I have an idea for a new racing series.

I had this idea for a race series and wonder if you guys would give me your input on it. It's you start out in a low class (D,E or F) and the first race would be stock cars, but everytime you race you get points to be able to use on your car. But the trick is that you don't want to get points to show that you can drive a stock car. every point that you make will go to upgrading your car. so the worst you do the more points you get. It will be an interesting concept but this is a short brief on it and wonder what you guys think of it?                                                                                                                                                   53

I have often considered doing something like this, but never could work out the implementation. If you wanna have a go, knock yourself out, but it's going to require a bitt of work on the host's part.

If you could do this as a one off type of series where we run against the AI and submit times with verification I am definitely interested.  I would even help with the testing of autos.  Be warned that I suck as a tuner but can run consistent (slow but consistent) laps.  If not I can still run the auto for comparison sake.

What hurts me (more than the jabs about my racing) is my racing style.  I use sim steering all the time and I'm too damn polite on the track.  After so much sim racing you get into a mode when I think too cautious.  I'm always thinking about my race sponsor and how pissed off he/she will be if I take to much damage and cost the team money.  I should be more like insanerc.  He gives no thought to running up the rear end of somebody just for spite.  A truely reprehensible individual.  wink  Note to self......  I do not have a sponsor.  I am not a RL race driver.  And insanerc is not that bad.  Looks funny, but drives okay.  But I won't forget the power reduction you slapped on my class last night at Maple Valley, buddy.  Look guys, no racing line...... http://youtu.be/98dqUHnbm9g

See, I'm a team owner and have copious amounts of game money so maybe that contributes to my racing, err style, yeah that's it, style...insanerc's just too damn cheap to buy brakes on his cars...

Also, I can appreciate that racing without a line on is your thing, but don't brag about beating AI that are constricted to running the very line you abhor...

Insanerc needs glasses I think.  I don't brag.  Far from it.  I do know that without the line I enjoy the ambiance of the tracks much more and the general racing experience.  Looking for the distance markers, kerbs etc,. to judge the distances. True, the AI, even on Professional difficulty can be beaten with regularity in a longer race. But trying to do it when you start from the back of the pack and taking no damage is quite fun and challenging with the other assists not being used. Also if you drop yourself out of the class they are in it is even more so.

I have done this on occasion, the most memorable being I ran an A class at Hockyheim in an S class race and won it, which was quite the challenge and I think at the same time shows just a touch of the shortcomings of the AI. But I agree, it was a fun time for sure.

Hey, how are the kids in swimming?  I'll throw up the review of my last 4 mos.  Got a LCM meet end of the month.  My apologies for taking space in this thread.

They graduated in May and have no intention of competing in college. However Anthony is still lifeguarding over the summer. And the swim teammembers continue to be a closely knit group even after graduating so far.

Are the results of the boys sectional/regional meet avail online anywhere.  I am interested in that kind of stuff.  IL Boys HS had a couple of firsts in the last year.  New Trier HS were the first boys 4x100 Free relay ever to go under 3 mins.  And another boy (forget the HS did a 46 for the 100 Butterfly).  It might not be the Nat'l record.  But Geez.  A 46!  Couple of other things but they escape my memory.  Oh yeah.  Former State Champ Kevin Cordes in the NCAA's last April did under a 50 for the 100 Breaststroke.  New Nat'l record.  And trashed the 200 record too.  He's at Arizonia.

I'll have to ask the kids if they know. I do know the boys team beat every standing school record on the wall except one. Some of which were 20 years old or better.
