I have kept it updated but not run it in weeks, the FFB was just aweful last time, sure it will get sorted and I may fire it up in a bit just to see what is new.

From what I could find the issue already seems to be sorted and everything is on track with some minor tweaking of the way the funding has it's t's crossed and I's dotted. I have only paid in enough to get the finished game but if I had put in 25000 grand plus I guess I would have been a little nervous smiley

According to Eurogamer backers will be paid only if they contributed towards the development with suggestions, reporting bugs and such. Hope for the higher backers sake that is false.

Overall, I have been pleased with my nominal contribution of approximately $30-$40 to Project CARS.  I was billed in pounds over a year ago when I signed up.  I went a while without playing it because it would not work, but they fixed that problem and I now can play it again.  Knight raises a good point regarding the FFB, but I have noticed that the BMW M3 GT and the Formula A cars have awesome FFB and physics.  The tracks look nearly done.  I know there is more work to be done, but from my vantage point, if they added a career mode and completed the existing licensing for what the game currently is, the game would already be better than many other sims out there.

Hmm for me it's roots are still showing, I noticed Vintage Monza and as the Lotus has been around since day one (I think) a perfect chance to compare directly with rF2 One lap and the lotus was back in the garage, the wheel was like a dead thing in my hands, yes graphically it looked great...ish, the grass grew in front of the car, there was some pop up and shadow chasing but you could see this a better graphics engine than rF2 based as it is on the already well matured NFS engine, the job of bolting on great physics is not an easy one and this shows in the fact tracks and cars come out quickly but the physics engine and FFB is much slower in being updated. rF2 is the other way around, an older and I admit creaking graphics engine but a solid physics engine based on the rF Pro software. Graphics is ISI's Achilles heel and this where they are very slowly improving. In an ideal world these two companies would meld and have an unbeatable product. To me, both of these are a year at least away from being ready, but if they both fulfill their potential we will have two great sims to play with.

The wheel feels dead cause there's no road bumps, engine vibe  or steering resistance added yet....all your feeling is tire model wip flex and elasticity.  Once they feel good about the base tire model they will start on the other compounds.  As for the physics it's a whole new wip that's why some builds feel brutal been the new model for a few months now.   Once the base tm is complete and the STM is added it will start to come alive...like I said there's so much more to be added that there's no way it will even be close to launch this yr.

on the bright side Mercedes just signed.... which adds another Dtm car :)

we got a peak of career mode which  looks pretty awesome!  The new customizable dash is releasing new features each build and word is there starting on the reveloutionary speak to pit feature...which seems pretty cool instead of having to plaster  your dash with add on data apps and programing your pit stops you can do it through voice command.

and fanaleds is now supported which helps bring some life into the wheel with engine revs and brake vibs

Well that is kinda what I said, don't have a downer on the game, it just ain't ready to any degree I can begin to judge it. Not sure about voice commands...First thoughts were cool then I thought how does that work with online racing? Unless there is a way of seperating driver to driver comms from driver to pit communications. That would be cool.

I do hope they get all the menu options onto the centre screen at some point, having to go to the extreme left or right of my side monitors to go back or exit is a pet peeve .

I have apps on my Tablet for all those data functions I cannot see the dash in my preferred FOV and hate my screens to be cluttered with overlays, it would be nice if they did one in house at some point,.but I expect someone will do one down the line.

I did read that all the fictional cars are actual contracts in the works, so going by that, there are already 2 Audis confirmed. But an Audi R18 will be nothing without the TS030.

Heh like I say until they sort out physics and FFB this will just be a pretty once a month ten minute play. Lazar scanning still doesn't mean much to me, a track in development for rF2 is accurate to 10cm thanks to the track data the modder was given access to, that is more than good enough.

Once it is finished if it lives up to the hype it will be one I'm sure we will be running series with. In the mean time keep us posted Kurupt and when you think it's worth it I'd be up for trying out a fun race with those of us that have it.

That could be a while lol

with the amount of new features supposibly coming I think the game will be a cluster fuck for a while.....the trend to date is that every time a new feature is added something else goes to shit.  And without continual road ffb and proper turn entry resistance it will feel quit odd to most but ill keep updated when I think it's worthy

Just read on the development sheet the 3 words "Renault,Laguna, and BTCC"

Almost giggled like a little girl!

Not confirmed yet but Primera is also listed

Also BMW and Focus ST for a modern BTCC

Brands, Cadwell, Oulton Park, and Snetterton also confirmed

There is no text above so no NDA is broken lol

Just can't get exited...unless they drive right they are just pretty models. Nope there is much more basic stuff to do, oh I'm sure it will come, and when it does, then I will get my happy face on for pCars.

Personally at this point in all the builds for the next gen sims none of them have me excited.

pcars needs the ffb and STM added to the game and the graphics cleaned up

rf2 performance is horrible and lacks any content that I enjoy

race room experience at this point has the best performance and graphics...but needs multiplayer added....BUT do I wanna pay to play ? No I wasted enough $$$ on iracing but it does have more content that interests me, and is anyone even playing it lol

assetto corsa ? Need something to play to judge

Agreed on the whole, I seem to be quite lucky in so much as rF2 runs fine on my system but I agree it should be better, last couple of builds have been going in the right direction, content is an issue, but at least when it is added it is closer to drivable because the physics and tire models are far closer to being right. As the older content is updated it just gets better from that viewpont. As it's the same two guys working on updating and producing new cars the time taken is both understandable and frustrating in equal measure. Same applies to the track makers though I believe one of the more experienced and respected modders has been added to the Dev team so hopefully ISI track content should be coming out a little faster. But yes sadly it's a waiting game for all of them.

Just drove the Lotus 49 at Historic Spa last night with day/night transition. OMFG, it looked and felt incredible. They obviously have been working on this car and track.

Hmm has something happened in the last couple of weeks? It felt horrible last time I tried it. Spose I'd better update and have a look.

I ran the Lotus 49 again tonight in Project CARS at Historic Spa and it felt great.  Out of deference to you, Knight, I also ran the Lotus at Historic Spa in rFactor 2 and of course rFactor 2 comes out on top in the FFB and physics department.  In fact, although the graphics are very different, they are still solid in rFactor 2 and I am getting very smooth FPS of 50-60 FPS on my triples with plenty of eye candy at 5760 X 1200.  I can see why iRacing is being so careful about releasing their iteration of the Lotus 49.  Both Project CARS and rFactor 2 seem to have gotten it right and they don't want to be left behind.

Just given it a quick bash and Zero is spot on.

The 49 drives like a dream now and a whole lot more objects are added to the classic layout.

Including a right dodgy ditch that im sure wasn't there before lol

Iam sure that lotus will turn to shit in a few builds...once the tread type and compound  tire wear are entered....the diffs and continual road ffb

New build has a Zonda R upgrade and Silverstone classic.

Just tried both and had a ball.

The R sounds terrifying now.

Kept short shifting as the sound is so different.

If you have a fanatec wheel I read in a thread to set set the fanatec driver dampener too a 100% and in game dampening too 100 and degrees of rotation to 900.  It also supports fanaleds now  as well and combine the 2 it feels much better than stock!   I was running the asano x4 around hockinghiem today and was having a blast.....I be been reading good reviews on the zonda sound....stig said it was spot on :)

performance seems to be getting better as well but the tire models still need a lot of work.....I have no idea how they plan to release this game by yrs end and claim to have 60 cars for release considering they have really only focused on about a handful and there's only 20 or so models available to date?

if your ever on and wanna run some laps let me know :)

Cool mate, should be cool for Sunday too if you'd prefer. Thought it would be a good idea to get testing before the Merc CLK-LM is released and subsequently destroys my marriage lol.

So I dug deep and found out what is going on with the current tire model that's in development....

at its current state there is NO tire temp, wear, or road bumps minus curbs so what your feeling is the tire at full optimization and perfect road conditions that's why the majority of cars will feel too grippy.  There is also no road ffb your strictly just getting the tire carcass model flexing .

i would strongly advise staying clear of most of the new car releases there a bit of a mess imoa :)

the last build introduced some new tranny and engine sounds as well as a shader and graphic update which is looking a lot better as well....the interior of the ford focus is ridicously realistic with the detail to the dash and seats  :)

Kurupt, my experience with the recent builds is that the Lotus 49, Formula A and Formula Rookie and the BMW M3 GT feel sublime in the FFB and physics areas.  The rest of the cars I have recently tried, particularly the newer ones, feel like crap and so I don't drive them.  Is that consistent with your experience as well, or are there are cars that feel good to you?
