Don't want a flame war, but...

Today I was amused to see an article on Gizmodo about the Zune and what turns out to be a somewhat gimped wifi feature. For those who don't know, I work as a Mac Specialist (sales and general wealth of knowledge person) at the "local" Apple Store, so if you want to write this off as fanboy / biased banter you're welcome to but I would like to think of myself as non-partial to a platform or product because of any brand loyalty, I just get what I think is the best product due to the information that's available to me.

Major Nelson lies to me

I'm a subscriber to Major Nelson's podcast and without fail, almost every episode, he reminds people that if they want an email read over the air or to get a question answered or anything like that, simply email him and he'll address your question / concern / comment. Well, either I'm blacklisted or he's not nearly as open to these things as he said he is.

Oh snap!

So Electronic Arts Montreal general manager Alain Tascan has publicly come out and stated that Gears of War has a complete lack of innovation. ..... Now there's the kettle calling the pot black.

Gears of War: completely uneducated analysis

I'm sure that everyone by now has seen the couple reviews of Gears of War that are casting it in a light less brilliant than what CliffyB would want, one of those reviews being home here, written by TANK. Not that I have much invested in the game personally, but I am very pumped for its release, and I wanted to offer up an opinion regarding these less excited reviews. Not to try and discredit or name-call the reviewers, just to take their evaluation and give a perspective on why it is that way, bring the comments from "this is bad" to "this is different and I don't care for it", more or less.

Need for Speed Carbon: Mini Review

Last night I was all wiggly excited to download the demo of Need for Speed Carbon off of the Xbox Live Marketplace, as I'm a huge NFS fan. Except for Porsche Unleashed. And Underground was... ok. Underground 2 was lots better. But I digress. The demo stacks up to just over 1GB in size, so expect a lengthy wait if you're downloading during peak hours. I think my download took 3.5 hours total, and it was a long wait.

Obligatory Top 10: Xbox Live Arcade titles I'd love to see

Boring day at work today, really nothing to do (or that I feel like doing), so here goes, another blog post. This time, I figured I'd succumb to the tried and true (read: cliche) Top 10 list syndrome and feature my personal Top 10 games that I'd like to see on Xbox Live Arcade, in no particular order.

I encourage you, the reader, to reciprocate and show the world just what you want to play on XBLA. Who knows, we get enough games in common and some XBLA high-up comes browsing through we may get our way. Wishful thinking never hurt anyone.

Last minute project / Awesome app review

Last night I was up fairly late-ish working on a freelance project for my old job. Not any later than usual, mind you, but still. No one is ever a fan of rushing things because someone in the order of operations took their sweet time. I was pleased to get the project done in the window of time that I'd stated I would get it done in, it's always nice to be right. Even if you're barely right. Of the 1-2 hours prediction I'd made, I "clocked out" of the job at 1 hour, 54 minutes. Awesome. Doesn't look half bad either, I'm pleased.

One quarter century down, several more to go.

Good day to all, greetings and / or salutations. I'm finally here, aged to much less than perfection but at least I'm aged to 25 and able to join up with all you who are 2old2play. Perhaps now I'll be inclined to take my copy of Halo 2 online more often so that when I get my ass whooped at least it'll be whooped by people who don't have condescending, belittling nature and brash superiority complexes. I'm looking forward to having some of that thing called fun when I play online.
