PS4 and Xbox One - best friends, best friends for life.

Charts and charts.  these systems are almost identical, more than any other pair in history I'd say - even more than SNES and Genesis.

Just more crap Shadow. It's not new.

My decision is already set. I think most people have made their short term choice too.

Just saying they're identical (with the newest info recently released).  So let's all just get along.  :)  No need to yell which is better - they're twins.  26

No they are not. 1 takes a delicious cookie bar, flows caramel over it and bathes it in chocolate. The other takes a scrumptious cookie, cascades caramel over the cookie and then cloaks it in chocolate.

It is a completly different process.

Actually no, they're not.  But you can think that if you want.

Looks like they are looking into bundling the headset:

http://www.ibtimes.com/xbox-one-microsoft-looking-bundling-headsets-after-all-1365097

With the track record of late between what they've looked into and what they've changed, there's probably a good chance it may come with a headset after all.

Confirmed and "looking into" are worlds apart at this point.

Total speculation. The MS source did not even hint confirmation. Expect to hear confirmation, if any, at Gamescon but I doubt before. Why make the adapter an accessory and then include a headset? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Including a headset only helps those that use the basic 360 headset now or those that will use it until they buy a better headset. The adapter helps anyone who has bought a 3rd party headset for the 360.

The adapter is confirmed not included at this time BTW. My line of thinking is why not include the cheap adapter instead of the rumoured headset? That fits current headset owners requirements better.

If they include the adapter, then anyone with a 360 will have no need for the new headset. If they include the headset, there will be a lot of people wanting to buy the adapter.

Yeah...that's why I said they are looking into it. (Actually, they said they're looking into it)

As far as my second comment, they've looked into 24 hour checkin removal, headset adapters, and self publishing.  So far, they've changed their stance on all of those.  Given how someone at MS saying they're looking into something has lead to them making a change on it, I'd say it's probably more likely they will bundle the headset than they won't at this point.  Although I agree that making the adapter an accessory then including the headset doesn't make sense.  I think it would make more sense to include the adapter and sell the improved headset.

Yeah sorry, I was confusing the headset story and the adapter story.

Anyway, why doesn't it make sense to include a headset if they made an adapter? Not all of us use 3rd party headsets you know. And that's especially true for new customers. They are going to need a headset, not an adapter

an adapter doesn't do anything for MS.  why would they give away something for free that costs them money only to allow you to use products that are not their own to work with your new system?  that's just economics 101.

it's not a cheap thing.  It'll have to be a piece with a chip in it probably to convert from straight up 2.5mm analog into the digital USB-like connector.  they'll make one and they'll charge you for it.

Point is it's not like they don't already have them on the market.

I wasn't trying to come off as a dick, so sorry if I did... my bad. I was just trying to point out the simplicity of it. Unless they throw a bunch of doo dads and some sparkles on it, I can't see it costing anymore than $14.99. Otherwise it looks like there are other options out there. I found that for 3.05 on Amazon.

I will guarantee you it'll look something like this but will need a chip in it probably, and a mute switch at least:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FUG5V8/

and it'll probably be $20-30.

No way. All they are doing is converting the signal. The mute would work on that standard headset the same way it does now. I get what you're saying Shadow I just don't see how they could possibly over complicate something that already exists on the market. We know Motorola makes them and I'm sure I could find 3 more companys that make a similar adapter. And what purpose would a chip serve?

Nah, I didn't take your post that way. Just couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to bust some chops. ;)

Though I do agree with you, I don't think it'll be much more than $15

I am just saying that I wouldn't assume that we as a whole know what it takes to convert this proprietary adapter into analog with mute and volume as well.  It may have something built in that needs a powered connection and response from the headset.  Plus the adapters you mention for $3 - sure that's what they cost now.  But not when they were first created.  We all know how much stuff gets marked up, especially proprietary stuff.

Shadow I totally get your point and I'm sure that you're right... but if all that IS needed for the current headset to work is a 2.5mm to micro usb adapter regardless of a "chip" or whatever whiz-bangs MS decides it needs to sell this product it's nice to know there are other options for a similar product.
