I wanted to first just let everyone know that I am deeply appreciative of everything this site has done for my family and I. Mere words can not put boundaries on my gratitude. With that I wanted to let you all know that I am going out on a limb and doing something some people may think is weird or uncalled for. A little back ground first. As I was reading my daily verses from the Bible, I stumbled across a verse that particularly stuck out to me and ate at me as I walked the mountain today. Yes, the mountain. It seems a lot has been blogged after walking the mountain. It's quiet time for me and conversation time between God and I, when I walk. Anyways, it comes from Proverbs 6:16-19

16 There are six things the Lord hates—
      no, seven things he detests:
 17 haughty eyes,
      a lying tongue,
      hands that kill the innocent,
18 a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
19 a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family.

All of that, I have done in the past. But one particular part has really been the focus recently. "...a person who sows discord in a family." I have sewn discord among my family. And at the worst of all times. With the passing of Bekah and some real life realizations coming to fruition, I have made more comments recently that have offended Stacy, than I can remember. All of it with no excuse, and all of it with a source. The source? I know the source, and the devil has crept in and affected my focus, or lack thereof. I have not been putting my focus on my family. As many blogs as I have written about Megan, Stacy and the boys, my true focus has not been there. I need to correct this, and fast.

So, now comes the weird/ maybe uncalled for part. From today 09/06/07 until AT LEAST 09/25/07 (Halo 3 release day) I will not turn on my 360 for anything except maybe to watch a movie. No games, no COD4 beta, no Bioshock replay, no RB6, no Halo 2...nothing. I want to spend as much time with my family as I can. I put "AT LEAST" in there to say that I may make it longer. I know Halo 3 is highly anticipated and very important. But, it's not as important as the faces I see when I get home from work every night. I know some of you may say, "He will only last a week." or, "He doesn't need to do this.", but I do need to do this. I looked at the past few weeks, and seen that I have indeed spent more time on my 360 than actually sitting on the floor of the living room and playing with my kids. That's terrible and I'm embarrassed by it. So, I'm going to work on it. I pray that God gives me the strength to resist the temptation to turn my back on my family and help focus my every ounce of energy in being with them. I will still post here at 2old2play and Site Chat, and will check my messages on XBL via my PC, but I will not be logging in to play, or even turn the machine on. I know I may alienate some people by doing this, and I want you to know I am not turning my back on anyone. I just need this. I hope you all can understand.

Take care and God bless you all. Love you from my heart.

Dont doubt yourself, if this is what you think your Family needs your certainly right. Theres no doubt you will find a "balance" that will let you do both without alienating your Fam, in good time. Good luck.

No problem, buddy. You do what you gotta do and if you come back, I'll be waiting to play as much or as little as you'd like. Much love and prayers to your family.

As others have said, family comes first! If this is what it takes to reestablish a firm connection with the family, then so be it. Maybe later, you can achieve a balance between the 360 and the family that will meet both needs. I hope so!! Meanwhile, know that we are still here and will look forward to your blogs and, hopefully, a return to the XBL world. Peace be with you and yours.

Take the time you need, and know that everyone here - despite the first kneejerk reaction - fully understands that family comes head and shoulders above gaming in the grand scheme of things.

It may be easier to pull away from everything and go play your Xbox, but you are right that it is much better to spend that time with your family. You are a strong person, and one to look up to.
