I just thought this was too cool not to post. And, no, it's not because I am mentioned. :)
Well another Father's Day is upon us. Hey, you know I have it really good. I have two dads, a father-in-law and a husband. My dad is struggling with Alzheimer's. We have really come a long way because our journey has been difficult. Praise God I am able to put the past behind me so I can be there for him and help him. That is really rough to watch and deal with sometimes because he has progressed fast. However, I also have another dad, step-dad is what you call it but I don't like that word so I call him my dad. What an example! Man, I am so thankful I have him. I admire him so much and my love for him is like he has been my dad my whole entire life even though it has only been 12 years. Tough exterior but really he is just a big Teddy bear. My father-in-law, ok, he is just cute! He knows it because I tell him he is a cute little old man all the time. And we have been through a lot together. But you know there has never been a time that we are together that at some point we are not hysterically laughing. Jim, my husband, who I am so thankful for and fall even more in love with every day. We have grown so much together over the past 14 years but especially this past year. You see it is so easy when you are going through a situation like we are to get angry at each other, even blame each other. You can get frustrated because it is a never ending, heart wrenching, physically, mentally, and emotionally draining roller coaster that we ride every day. Who would I want to go through that with, nobody but him! God has used this experience to bring us even closer together. You realize that you have to rely totally on God and you have to be there and support each other. It is not just the two of you in this marriage, it is the three of you. Every day is different, you know? He is my rock! While we are all saying that Megan is such a blessing and what she has meant to everyone and how He has used her to touch so many people, you have know idea how He has worked through her in our life. What a blessing!
Thank you for letting me share this with you. I know it is not necessarily and update on Megan (by the way she is sleeping as usual)but I just wanted to take sometime to thank the men in my life. You guys are all so special to me and I am so thankful God has placed each of you in my life. I asked Jim what he wanted to do for Father's day and he said to just have everyone healthy and happy. Seems simple doesn't it? What a BIG prayer though. We have so much to be thankful for. And the best is our wonderful Heavenly Father! Happy Father's day to you guys out there. We love you all!
