New Releases: Week of September 1st, 2019


It’s Labor Day weekend and if you are fortunate enough to have a three day weekend, lucky you! Unlucky for you though that none of this week’s new releases launch on Labor Day but if you’re willing to wait, September is going to start revving things up with some awesome upcoming releases!


Catherine: Full Body
Release Date:
September 4, 2019
Platforms: PS4

This remake of the 2011 telenovela, err, video game, brings back the intriguing story of Vincent who is dating a girl named Katherine but ends up having an affair with another girl named Catherine. Now if only there were sequences where button mashing simulated actual se… uh, are there any minors reading this? Never mind… If you loved the first game, maybe this remake is worth a look.


Spyro Reginted Trilogy

Platforms: Switch

The Switch version of this game launches on 9/3/19.  If you are a Spyro fan and have a Switch, this game just might be your next go-to game when you’re on the bus, subway, train, uber, etc. to work, school, or play. Nothing really more to say about Spyro as this game has been out on other platforms for some time now so if you are unsold on it, there are plenty of reviews online to help you make a decision on whether to get this or not.


Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Just when you’ve pretty much hunted the living daylights, collected and crafted the best armor sets and weapons out of Monster Hunter World, the developers decide to launch a completely new set of challenges to complete, areas to explore, armor sets and weapons to craft, and more monsters to hunt! Gather up your hunting party, grab your traps and barrel bombs, and get hunting!


Gears 5/Gears of War 5

September 5, 2019 with Game Pass Ultimate
Platforms: Xbox One

Officially launching on September 10, Gears of War 5 or simply, Gears 5, will be playable on September 5 if you have Game Pass Ultimate. Journey back to Sera and rev that Lancer back into action as we learn more about Kait Diaz and her connection to the enemy! This is the franchise (and Halo!) that brought me to 2old2play so I have a feeling that I’ll be seeing a lot of old friends online again this week!
