New Releases: Week of September 13th, 2020

It's a big week for your pal ChunkySoup. As of next Saturday yours truly will be turning 50. I think I may have crossed the threshold of what 2old2play actually means. The name of the site is a bit tongue in cheek but I got to wondering if my half a century truly makes me 2old2play? The answer is no. When Microsoft got forced into dropping not only news about the Series S but also it's pricing this week I got super excited! Not only because of the more affordable price point but that Xbox All Access is coming to Canada as well. $30-ish CDN a month for 24 month AND it includes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?!?!?! Sign me up! I am loving Game Pass and that just seems like a great way to go. Yes the Series X will be more powerful but I don't have the TV's to support it truly. After that 24 months is up I will look again.

Honestly, it was MS's own doing as boxes started to appear with nods to the Xbox Series S and maybe someone broke an NDA or maybe not but my thoughts is they were holding on as long as they could in a game of console pricing chicken with Sony. I think we will know Sony's response on the 16th so I am also looking forward to that. I love me some healthy competition and us gamers, yes even those pushing 50 or more, get to reap the rewards!

Until November we will still have games to play on our current gen consoles and PC's so lets see what this week has in store!

Crysis Remastered
Release Date:
September 18th, 2020
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

The original graphics card melting, CPU cooking, hard drive smoking game is getting remastered! On top of that it is getting a new graphics mode called "Can it run Crysys?" If you don't know the lore, back in 2007 Crytek  released Crysis and even the best gaming rigs at the time could not run the game on the highest graphical settings. Crysis was stunning to look at and a fantastic game but if you want to point to a time where graphics became even more important than ever, it was with Crysis. So the legend is back and the question we are going to ask once again  with nVidia's new 3000 series and whatever AMD throws at us here shortly is "Can it run Crysis"! https://youtu.be/XzqmueK81u0

WWE 2K Battlegrounds
Release Date:
September 18th, 2020
Platforms: PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One

It amazes me that not only is the WWE still around and drawing crowds but that K Sports still makes games based on the license and I am guessing they still make money too?!!? Don't get me wrong, there is a good 10-15 year period where I watched Wrestling..in fact I am old enough to say I watched Stampede Wrestling Saturday afternoons when Bret The Hitman Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Owen Hart and a host of others were coming up! Maybe it's because I am old and crotchety but who the fuck buys WWE games?!?! In the mean time and in between time, check out the link for some god honest wrestling history!

Super Mario 3D All Stars
Release Date:
September 18th, 2020
Platforms: Switch

I heard about Super Mario 3D All Stars and I have been waiting for my daughter to dock the switch to charge it so I can pre-order! Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy all in one! As of September 7th Super Mario All Stars was the second highest selling game on amazon...and that is just preorders! Who is the first you ask...always bet on Nintendo because it is Animal Crossing New Horizons. If you are thinking about picking this game up you need to do so before March of next year because the big N is making Super Mario All stars a limited time only event.
