New Releases: Week of October 2nd, 2022

R.I.P Stadia. Not going to lie, I saw this coming around the time Google launched it. If my time on this earth has taught me anything it is this: Without a killer launch title, you can't launch a new gaming system. Google's misstep was counting on previously released AAA titles to pull it through and while Stadia had some games made for it, there were no must have that weren't already on other systems. I have lost count but I think that is around the third attempt at an only streaming service that has failed miserably. The first couple were, in my opinion, ahead of their time. The bandwidth required for most users wasn't there to make the experience worthwhile. Game Pass, GeForce Now and Sony's upcoming service have the titles gamers want to play, some cool features that are unique to each and the infrastructure is now there or at least at a point where high speed internet is more readily available.

Did you pick up a Stadia? Well the good news is you are getting your money back which is just crazy to me but good on Google for that one.

Let's see what is NOT coming out on Stadia this week shall we?

Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo
Release Date
: October 4th, 2022
Platforms: PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, XSX/S

I know I am old and I know who Hitchcock was and why he was important. Psycho and The Birds scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. That being said I need to ask;: Who is the target audience for this game? Us older folks who recognize the Hitchcock name? This is not entirely Vertigo the movie, From the trailer, the game looks like an updated retelling which is either going to be interesting or sacriledge. I will let you chose your side on that one

Dakar Desert Rally - The Game
Release Date
: October 4th, 2022
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, XSX/S

The Paris to Dakar rally has always boggled my mind. I swear it was idea fuelled by alcohol and maybe a little too much bravado. You can take on the unrelenting desert, brown outs (like wintertime white outs but...you know...sandy brown colored), sandstorms, getting lost, going off a dune cliff that you didn't even see...you know all the dangerous stuff but without the dying. That sounds like a better idea to me.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway
Release Date
: October 7th, 2022
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, XSX/S

Ok, in all fairness, Aang should win everytime. Being the Avatar and having the ability to bend all the elements at will Garfield, Sponge Bob, Rafeal...others...they don't stand a chance. Maybe Korra has a fighting chance but she is a little too hotheaded so I am going to put my money on Aang everytime. No matter what though...Rocco is going down.
