New Releases: Week of October 10th, 2021

Coffee Memoirs:   Community… its like a recipe of varied elements that come together to make something either better or worse.  If you take part or interact in a game, a social group or something else with other people you are contributing in some way even if you think that you are not.  As gamers we are all pretty familiar with some of the toxic things that happen that drive players away or make you downright angry.  Xbox Live in its early days had its 8 year olds with the potty mouths of sailors.  Those same kids probably have kids of their own so I am betting Karma has taken its toll on them.  I hated playing online for that reason among my own online anxieties.  I am a bit jealous of Chewbacca, he had his own stress relief methods of tearing the arms off of droids… not quite an option for you and I.  So do your best to make for a great community that people want to be a part of even if you are just visiting… unless they are evil droids… then pull a Chewbacca.

Back 4 Blood
Release Date:
October 12, 2021
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX

Left 4 Dead.  Its as simple as saying the game developer really wanted to make another game in the series and it just wasn’t happening so they took matters into their own hands and gave it their own title.  Mission based zombie survival game for you and your compadres to enjoy.  Special abilities that vary from character to character and  a card system to tweak gameplay in your favor.  As Borat would say, “Very Niiiiiice.”

A detective RPG like no other?  An IGN 10/10?  And now finally available for the rest of the consoles that didn’t already have it?  Yes, Yes and No… I mean Yes.  The final cut edition has added full voice acting and side quests to the already great game that originally released in 2019.  If you haven’t played it yet, perhaps now is the time.

NHL 22
Release Date:
October 15, 2021
Platforms: PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX

I know so many people that live, breathe and love hockey.  Adam Sandler, Seanne William Scott, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez and Paul Newman to name a few.  There are some great movies out there and if they can’t beat them on the scoreboard… its highly likely they are going to try to beat each other with their own dirty tricks.  Do they add anything new to the game?  Or maybe they are waiting for Wayne Gretzky and some other older guys to pass on so they can create a zombie team of the greats to try play against?  Sports games are so hard to innovate on it seems but there is always a way.  Be great if they could do that.  Hopefully there are no micro-transactions… that would be gross.  At least the graphics are looking beautiful.  Maybe they can do a crossover with the Back 4 Blood guys and face off against some Zombos!?  Spicy!  But not likely.
