New Releases: Week of May 5th, 2019

I had to go on a work trip which had me in West Michigan all week. I came back with the plane plague apparently but I still mananged to finish Crackdown 3 and squeeze some Destiny 2 in on the weekend.

As for this week in new game releases there is one "new" release and one re-release on a new platform. Looking at the rest of the month as we head into E3 the calendar is not looking any better. Re-release after re-release with a couple new games smattered in. However, remember the old days, like early PC and NES days? We were lucky to see a new game a month and we loved it! The anticipation, the magazine advertisements and articles we poured over and all the discussions of how good it was going to be. Ah the good ol' days...You  hearing this you young whippersnapper games? Get off my god damn lawn!

Enough of my waxing poetic lets take a look at what comes out this week.

Life is Strange 2: Episode 3 - Wastelands
Platforms:
 PC, PS4, Xbox One
Release Date: May 9th, 2019

I have Xbox Game Pass and I suggested to Mrs-Soup that she play Life is Strange. She is more action adventure type but I thought she would enjoy the story. I was right and she got into that game hard. It even affected her in subtle ways for a while which is rare for her. I have not told her about the second game (yet) but I might just leave it on the TV and see if she notices.

Saints Row: The Third
Platforms:
Switch
Release Date: May 10th, 2019

We are reaching back on this one aren't we THQ? Released back in 2011, Saints Row: The Third has been out for 7-1/2 years and Deep Silver ported it to the Switch and it will be avialable this week. Why? I am assuming someone will buy this. I am assuming they think enough someones will buy this game to make it worth their while. I would love to have heard that pitch and I would love to see the sales data on this. Was Saints Row: The Third a good game? Sure but it's not like there aren't good games that are a hell of a lot newer on the Switch. Now don't get me wrong, Saints Row is a pretty raunchy game and not your typical Nintendo fare so I am glad to see the big N allowing these games on the console...I just wish it wasn't a 7-1/2 year old game.
