New Releases: Week of March 29th, 2019

How is self isolation going for you? I found that when Mrs-Soup has Teams meetings and the souplets are doing online school through Google Classroom and I have Teams meetings that we are at the limit of our bandwidth. How about you? I know Microsoft announced they are seeing a 775% increase in traffic overall. Of course there are the trolls beaking off about how they should be able handle this and they suck but I would like to see those same trolls handle a 775% increase in their property taxes, rent, utilities or what not. Sony is running into similar issues but they do not have an OS or an Office 365 type app that are essentially running on the same backbone. I haven't heard what the big N is doing but lets just chill and cut them some slack here. Their employees are in the same boat as most of us, so turn off that video during a conference call if you can, download off of Netflix or Disney + and watch later. Little things can make a huge difference during times like these. Also, don't be that person taking all the TP.

While you are at home maybe check out some new games!

Resident Evil 3
Platform:
PC, PS4, Xbox One
Release Date: April 3rd, 2020

I don't know how I feel about this. The remake looks good, there is no arguing about that. The gameplay looks good too. I have just kind of had enough of remakes at this time. The sad thing is I try something new and it doesn't grab me so I will tell you that I have loved playing old games again that I had a great time with back in the day. I get it, I understand it, I just want something new to grab me, to be that killer new IP. Is that too much to ask?

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends
Platform:
Switch
Release Date: March 31st, 2020

I am going to admit that I loved the original Bubble Bobble in the arcades. I plunked many a quarter into that slot. I would get my ass kicked on nearly every other game but I could play Bubble Bobble for a good 15 minutes at least on a single quarter. I actually received a code for Bubble Bobble 4 Friends and they have the old arcade in the game plus a new take on single player. The 4 player mode is interesting but my daughter is hogging the Switch due to Animal Crossing and refuses to branch out and play something different with her dad. I watched the video below and damn, just listening to the music makes me all nostalgic

Persona 5 Royal
Platform:
PS4
Release Date: March 31st, 2020

My daughter plays Persona 5 and when she does all we here is yelling at the screen from the basement. I am sure she knows about P5 Royal but her life is consumed by Animal Crossing right now. I have a real block when it comes to Anime and games based on Anime. I appreciate the art style and mostly the game play but the over the top drama that is prevalent throughout drives me nuts. It's not just the action but the way all the characters talk to each other and everyone else.

My Friend Pedro
Platform:
PS4
Release Date: April 2nd, 2020

Finally out on PS4, My Friend Pedro is a stylistic side scrolling shooter where you basically go on a killing spree at the behest of a talking banana. Read my blurb on RE3 Remake. This is the kind of thing I am talking about.  Sure there are a shit ton of side scrolling shooters out there and have been for the better part of 30 years but My Friend Pedro puts those old games to shame. I am not saying that just because it has a psychotic talking banana,a but watch the gameplay video below and be amazed by the silky smoothness of it all.
