New Releases: Week of July 4th, 2021

Happy Independence Day to my southern neighbors! What kind of festivities do you have planned? I remember when I lived in Eugene, OR. back in the late 70's we blew up fireworks in our cul-de-sac. They were/are outlawed here in the city so it was the first I ever experienced them up close. I mean we have them here during our Stampede and for Canada Day, and there is a big fireworks festival called Global fest but you can't light your own...nor buy them for that matter. Go outside of the city and well...all bets are off! Light 'em up!

I want to ask: Anyone playing Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance? There are bugs in the game for sure but the biggest one is the fact you pretty much are required to team up with people and people, in my experience, are fucking idiots. Three times I was in a party of 4 and then it was just me because the other assholes dropped! Yes you can single player it but its not fun that way. When a party lasts the game is decent but more times than not, fuckers drop and it won't bring other players in to replace them. Not cool man!

You know what else is not cool? The lack of new releases in the summer!

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
Platforms:
PC, Switch
Release Date: July 9th, 2021

Have I told you I want to love Monster Hunter games? I really do. I have put in time with different iterations, most recently MH:World. I dumped probably 40 very painful hours into that game. I go basically no where, other than through this one passage, and then the monsters became so overpowered and my sword was so goddamn slow it was like instant death. My issue with D&D above plays into this as well as I tried calling for help or finding other people to team up with and..well..that did not end well. I am beginning to think it is a PICNIC issue - Person In Chair Not In Computer...

There are also a couple of VR only releases this week.

Sam & Max: This Time It's Virtual - Rift. Yes that Sam & Max. Dog Detective in a hot and trench coat and naked rabbit thing sidekick but now in virtual goodness! https://youtu.be/noVIP4p2WxQ (PS. Keep an eye out for a rat that flips you off)

Blobkin Blaster - Quest, Rift, Vive. A VR Arcade shooter that would probably take way too much of my time away. I can't tell you how many quarters I plugged into arcade shooters over the years but its likely enough to buy the rig needed to play VR games. Full Disclosure - This one is only in beta (free on steam) and it's my brother-in-law's company  https://youtu.be/d27UgdP8yCQ
