Still following this (lurker status ). I'll probably try hitting some of you guys up once I pick it up. I'll have to agree, Yak's Bend sounds tempting.
I've got next to no experience w/ these types of games, so I'll definetely be lurking to pick up tips and pointers as it progresses. I've done a bit in GW1, and used about half a trial period on WoW. Done a fair bit of hack n' slash with the Balder's Gate series on PS2/3, but it's a bit different of an animal.
I've been meaning to pick up D3 as well, but between work, online racing (my forte) and home renos (just bought a house in May & currently converting a bedroom into an office/race room) my time is pretty limited.....and we won't even get into the car projects.

Yes. You can download it and have it ready to go. The only thing I can't remember was whether the key was needed first which would mean you have to preorder first.

Did you pre-purchase, or just pre-order? Through what store/website?
I don't know your situation, but most people went to the GW2 website, entered the code from the bottom of their GameStop receipt (if they pre-purchased; i.e., paid in full, up front), and linked that code to their existing Guild Wars account (if they had one). If you just pre-ordered, you may not have the code (game key) yet. You can still download and install the client ahead of launch, though. The link is http://cloudfront.guildwars2.com/client/Gw2.exe

The guild leader is still considering servers. I'm suggesting either Yak's Bend, or Sanctum of Rall (if Yak's is too crowded--and it looks like it will be). I don't know if either is "centrally located," by which, I think, you mean the majority of the guilds/players are located in the central time zone? I went to http://www.gw2guilds.org and searched by time zone. The servers with the most "central" guilds (GMT -5 hours and GMT -6 hours) were the servers with the most guilds period.
EDIT: I withdraw my suggestion of Sanctum of Rall as a potential server. I don't want to be on a server with this guild http://www.gw2guilds.org/view-guild/1339 I don't mind that they're Christian, but if you read their "constitution" on their website you'll see they're not the tolerant kind of Christian (hint: anti-gay; you can't be a member of the guild if you're a "sodomite" or "some other type of perverted person"), and they're encouraged to proselytize. Does that mean they'll be flooding the chat channels with inflammatory rhetoric? ANet could crack down on that, but who knows the drama they could stir before that happens. Anyway, it's a red flag for me.

Hey Lala. Glad to see you're going to give this one a whirl! As you and I had similar tastes in SWTOR in regards to PvP, I think you will love the WvW and PvP in this one.
Sounds cool. I got heavily into PvP with my Vanguard Trooper, almost had full War Hero gear before I got sick of the grind. Would of done rateds if any guild in swtor could keep members.

Gate of Madness is looking fairly good as a home server. I'm going to try and get server selection done by this week so we can all be ready at launch. We want to make sure we get everyone on the same server ASAP so no one gets locked out. Assuming we have enough people I can convert this thread into its own division and start sorting things out.
By my count we have at least 30+ trying the game out. I have no doubt that this number won't remain after launch, but so long as we give the game a fair shake we should have a decent size crew for WvWvW. If anyone has a suggestion for a home server let me know this week. I'll have the server picked out and ready by Wednesday. We should look for something with a decent amount of people, higher win ratio on beta, and decent community. I'd personally love Yaks, but I have no doubt it will be full.

I had this game preordered for a while but only played the beta for a very brief time. Hopefully, I will be able to join you on your server before it fills up. If I seem like a noob while playing, it is because I am. I have almost no experience with MMOs and only have a little experience with RPGs in general, but it should be a good time anyway.

A lot of guilds committed to Gate of Madness, but they're smaller than the guilds found on Yak's.
