Trouble with Borderlands 2...

Finally got a copy, and to be honest, I'm struggling with it in a way I didn't in the first game.  Currently I've got less than $1500 and I'm getting killed a LOT quicker than a Level 15 should be.  I'm running the Varkid sample mission and my best weapons can hardly kill a Varkid once it's in the air.

Is this game biased towards co-op that much?

The first playthrough of BL2 is a bit more difficult than was BL1.  Once you begin to build up your badass rank, subsequent characters and playthroughs become easier.

Mighty Morphin' is a tough mission the first time through if it's at your level or higher.

Currently Playing:

I just started BL2 too over the weekend and have been playing solo. I haven't really run into any issues with difficulty other than trying to complete Round 5 of the Circle of Slaughter which I had to rage quit.

A fire elemental weapon is good against the Varkid. I kind of had the opposite problem. I killed them too quick and had trouble getting them to "morph". You have to hurt them just enough to make them go into the pod, but not so much that they die...lol

What class are you playing?

I found my Commando class with the turret and a good fire weapon took down the adults and bigger varkids pretty quick.

Good luck!

Yeah, honestly that mission fucking sucks, I've always hated that mission a lot, as those things are really tough and in the beginning you don't get many decent weapons. Honestly, this game is all about legendaries, and gold keys help to get you by until you find some so keep an eye on Randy Pitchford and Gearbox Software Twitter page b/c that's where they give most of the codes out. I only use my account just to get Gold Keys lol.

1st playthroughs have lower drop rates than 2nd and 3rds so really it can be the toughest since you're forced to use so many white and green weapons in the beginning. I think I have a level 19 Gunzerker laying around, if you ever want some help and you're on Xbox let me know, my GT is screen name.

I've got some lower level characters too if you want to add me.

The mod you're given at the first of the game for a +5% boost in dropping rare items does help some, but not a lot. The twitter/golden key thing is your best bet, because all the items the chest gives you are at your level.

Heck I died a lot at all levels!  My advice is regroup - the varkid mission - once the kill you you can attack the bosses from a distance.

What I ended up doing in that mission was let Mordecai hit them from the tower till I spotted a pod forming, sped over and hit the injector and dropped the turret (i'm playing Axton), then between the turret and my shotgun finished them off.  Surprisingly, the fire weapon I had at the time did hardly any damage at all!

As of now, I'm past the part where Sanctuary became a flying city and I managed to get the new Fast Travel point set up.  Between Teapot and that Slagger SMG I had it did a number on all those loader bots!  Thanks to NoMoDeeks and his kind donation of some very handy guns, it was a lot better getting through this.

It's going to feel pretty good when I finally arrive at the fight with Handsome Jack.49
