Well, he pulled it off...was fortunate to watch from just before opening the capsule, the whole freefall, and the safe landing. He had a bit of tumble partway through, but once he got to thicker air, he stabilized in short order and was in control all the way till chute opening. Broke the altitude record, and unoficially broke the speed of sound.
I saw that live and the whole thing was just awesome from beginning to end. The shots outside of the pod were just unreal. Makes you wonder if he was really able to enjoy the view.
