No visual representation of block quote until after you post

For instance, in the old site and every other message board, you get the "quote" tags after the block of text you want to show as a quote.  You don't get this here, and you also don't get a WYSIWYG box showing around it either.  It seems to be a hidden trait until you post.  Now, if you're making a complex post, that's pretty important so you can tell what you've quoted and what you haven't.  I've posted a few times trying to quote something and seeing nothing in the editor because I hit it a few times thinking it wasn't working.
