I think that was after they made a few advances in armor manufacturing, more specifically metallurgy, wasn't it? The early stuff was quite crude and heavy, no?

Not at all, I have held armour and swords from as far back as 5000 years, that being a Bronze age sword. I was astonished at the lightness of it. The knowledge of how to make lightweight Swords and Armour is as old as the items themselves.
The idea that Knights were hoisted onto their comes from Henry the 8th who was so fat in later years he had to be hoisted around his palace never mind onto his horse.
I have seen a legal document from the 15th century where a Knight sued his armourer because at the final fitting, when the Knight performed cartwheels...yes cartwheels, the armour pinched.
My armour weighs more than the historical original because to have it made to the same quality and materials as the original would cost in the region of $20,000.
Trust me I know more about this subject than even many historians and archeologists, this I know because I have done lectures on the subject to them :)
Heh it is a subject I can talk about endlessly, especially if I have my collection of swords and armour to hand, Did you know for example our modern idea of wizards and spells comes directly from the history of sword making? No? Well my fees are very reasonable

So earlier today I'm at work typing an email and write the word evvery, continue typing and I realize the typo so I instinctively navigate the cursor directly in front of the second v, backspace, retype the v, continue typing my message and realize the the evvery typo still exist. That's wierd but I repat the correction process (This is a well practiced correction process on account of my lack of typing prowess) continue typing my message and realize the typo is still there so I'm thinking "what the hells goin on here?". Investigated it further only to reveal there never was a W typed, it was always 2 V's...can you imagine my surprise, what a brutal day.
LOL Not much of a keyboard jocky myself. If it wasn't for the spell check, my posts would be even less elequant than they are. That must have been a mind feck, and in the morning too, most unfair.
So, a quality Harness runs bout the same as a new Harley? Seems to have the same effect on the women folk too! Except you can both sit on the Harley unobstructed...
Yup that's about right, I have noted the Harness and the Hog attract different kinds of women...Hog lovers don't run away when you get off the bike, I know as I am still married to one.

Knight can indeed ride a horse and has been called on to do so while in armour, not easy...Knee socks are Fitzys thing...just saying.
