Avatar Change/Delete persistence

Trying to change my avatar appears hit or miss.  I choose a new file (150 x 150 pixels) and click submit.  I get the message that changes have been saved but then the picture it shows on the edit screen is my avatar from two changes ago.

If I go to the forums I see the avatar from one change previous but not the one I just uploaded.  I finally got it to work yesterday.  The avatar I wanted was showing in the forums and in the edit screen.  Today though it was gone and the last avatar I had is showing.

When I go to the edit screen it again shows the avatar from two changes ago.  I tried clicking the box to delete the avatar...then upload a new one.

It really seems to be a coin toss as to which "old" avatar it displays but no matter what, will not show a "new" one I upload.

I think a lot of these issues stem from the intense cache system we have on 2o2p right now.  What happens is the server tries to store as much data as it can so that it doesn't have to hit the database every time you guys request a web page.  The issues we are seeing are that old information is still in the cache and not being updated.  I'll have to look into these things on a case by case basis.

However, when you upload a new photo it does enter into the site.  What you are seeing is simply the cached version of the page.  After a while the cache will be dropped and the new image will show.  Currently the cache setting is probably a bit to high, but we wanted to make sure things were stable before getting adventurous.

Something interesting to note.  When I updated the avatar it showed my original upload in the edit screen (Brock Sampson from Venture Brothers).  On my work PC it showed the second upload (The smiley with the cigar).  I just viewed the site on my Kindle Fire and it showed the last avatar I uploaded (angry panda bear), the one it should actually be set to now.  AFTER viewing it with the Panda on my Kindle Fire, I signed on my home PC and it is showing the smiley with cigar again.

Correct.  So this might be something with the local browser cache??  I am using Google Chrome at work and home.  Don't know what platform the Kindle Fire uses.

I cleared the cache on my browser here at work and now it shows the correct avatar.  It's weird that even after a couple days the browser didn't update that?  So I guess if you make any changes to your avatar or sig you should clear the cache right after?
