Suggestion?

Lately I've been getting an itch for racing and due to our current league time I've had to look else where to get my fix and have been jumping into some race2play leagues running gsc.  During my absent I've been trying to figure out a way to fill our grids and expand our club to make keeping this forum alive and worth while.  Our current issue is lack of interest and everyone running different sims, than it dawned on me while searching other clubs that they all link back to race2play to draw attentention and fill the grids while utilizing multiple sims.

So my pitch to keep things going around here would be to start a 2old2play team there, no more hosting issues or mismatches  either and all mods are tried and tested.  If I recall it's around 2-3$ Per race you can leave the sign ups open or by invite request which would force people to register with us, possibly leading to more people here?

The competition there is pretty much the best of the best but 20+ grids beats 3-4 any day :)

iam currently running in the mini challenge and v8 using gsc 13 if all goes well iam contemplating hosting a series with some of the new content coming shortly but not sure what I've really been digging open wheelers of late and the 2014 f1 coming has me really excited but will see.

If this interests the majority I'll go ahead and setup a membership and team.  Membership is free or you can pay to get some advantages and to host a race there will be a small fee.  If someone wants to host a series using a different sim at another time by all means do!  I believe payments can be made through paypal .

let me know what you guys think or if you have any other ideas to liven things up here, I truly want to keep this forum alive and running as were one of the few forums that shows interest in multiple sims as opposed to the single fanboy sims most clubs are :)

cheers

I was waiting to hear back from my wife what her work and training sessions were gonna be starting this Monday before ruling out anything.  As it stands having 2 young ones to avoid having to pay $2200 a month for a stranger to raise my kids I opted to sacrifice and work around her so ATM we don't even have one day a week to all spend together, one comes home the other leaves.  Currently I only have after 1 am and weekend mornings, looking at Gbr sched they have tried filling every single slot, and in all honesty asides from Helios I wouldn't expect any support or turnouts from them.  If it's not a v8 super car it won't get much attention even they have had issues with non v8 turnouts.

dont get me wrong I love racing with guys and have had some of the best races here, but I have really not found any PC sim that I love, lack of content I enjoy, constant  problem shooting, half ass mods , driving by myself 95% of the time and small  fields in every game has just gotten to me.  I recently picked up a ps3 and gt6 for $40 and was problem the best $40 I've spent in the past 2 yrs It took less than 5 mins to realize what I had been missing and loved the most in racing games ....building/tuning cars and taking them into lobbies to show off and see where I can put them on the lb something you can't do in any PC sim.

imo asides that my wheel doesn't rattle like a can of rocks imitating every bump in the road like rf2 and iracing the tire/suspension model are pretty much the same in gt6 and feels a lot like rre I look forward to what ps4 will be capable of with gt7 and Pcars.   I love racing and it's truly a waste to put my time and effort into planning/testing/promoting/hosting etc to only run with 3 others in a sim I only use on race day once a week when I have something else I enjoy and can jump on at any time and run multiple races with 15 plus on track.

Ill still be on from time to time testing my 2 games so if you see me and wanna run some laps shoot me an invite!

I think the best thing ATM is talk to the leaders of Gbr and see if they will open a slot and host?

Cheers

With reference to your previous post quoted above, everyone here concluded that you didn't have time anymore to race in any league. Your main reasons of blame given, were because of your wife, your 2 children, your work patterns, you having to pay to race and you giving up on racing on the PC as you now have a PS3.

In response to hosting issues, the server is up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with hotlaps tracker, race results and live timing.

The main issues from my personal point of view, is the league is on a website that is not known for racing, as its pro dominantly aimed at first person shoot'em ups and role playing games. I only stumbled upon 2old2race by accident on the isi forum whilst looking for a btcc league. The second issue, is that the majority of the world population racing  online, are under the age of 25 years old, thus unable to join the website.

For those that concluded I had no time was correct, but giving up PC racing is not and need to go back and re read those post :)

i said at the time I was gonna be busy with real life till spring as I banked some dough and took care of more important things, there was very little interest here and the time slot you guys were aiming for didn't fit my schedule, there for looking for other options like ps3 and other leagues that fit my availability like race2play/race department  so I could race with with more than 3 other people.  Every club started off small at one point before they grew, do you want to grow or die or join another club?   There's many small sites like ours which I discovered and most of them hosted a series at race2play....as for age we've never had an issue and from my experience most sim racers have been mature and fall in our criteria, only time I've found the young and dumb is on consoles for the most part.  So back to my op could this be an option of interest?

There was no mention of your unavailability being only until spring in the above quoted post. The current schedule didn't take you into concideration, and wasn't decided until after you announced your switch to PS3.

As I have mentioned in my previous post in this topic, www.2old2play.com has a minimum age restriction, all members have to be 25 Years old or older to join. I have raced against many drivers under the age of 25 years, and a couple have expressed interest in joining to race BTCC, but it is the www.2old2play.com age restriction policy which has stopped them from joining.

Quote 2old2plays policy

"User registration on 2old2play is verified by our admins and moderators. If you sign up for 2old2play you are agreeing that your age is at or above 25 years old. If this is not the case please do not attempt to join our community. Users found to be under the age of 25 will be removed and IP banned. Our community is run on the basis of an older gaming crowd and we stick to this ideal with a passion. "

As I have often said, GBR struggled along with a handful of racers for some time, and look at them, one of our problems is while we have several folk interested, we are in different time zones, so it is difficult to find a slot that suites all. Missing the last race was my bad, just lost track of what day it even was after a very tireing few days and no one was more pissed than me, been looking forward to it.

Age here is really not an issue, the Forza forum is the most active on the site, PC Racing is new here, not racing itself. I don't think a single league I have raced in has had more than a couple of youngsters, apart from iRacing that is and that has ended for me anyway.

R2P I have no objections to, but it does have to be said Kurupt you are a tad mercurial wink, leaping from Sim to Sim and Mod to Mod, it can be hard to keep up with what your going to be into next. It would be nice to pick a mod, sim and stick with it for more than one season. Given the hosting issues with R07 and the difficulty of dealing with mods in that sim the move to rF1 made sense, and if we settle down with a Mod, pick a day and time that we stick to things would be a lot easier. People could download one mod, one set of tracks and be good to go for more than just one series. But it's that trying to please all people from all time zones that is really causing problems. The Sunday slot that used to be good for most of the GBR folks that happily race something other than V8's has been dominated of late by iRacing, so where I raced there once a week on sundays...it's now once a month...Shame cause we could have slipped in a sunday race that fitted most folk from both sites, but it is what it is.

I will also add it was never the plan to start running races here, Church and I just wanted a corner of 2O2P where we could talk PC Racing without ruffling the feathers of the Consol Racers. Kurupt got the ball rolling and if life had not made that complicated for him we may well have been in a better position now, it did and the league kinda stumbled on with Mango doing his best to keep it going. But there was a long hyatus and that did not help.

Anyway bottom line is if you wanna have a go at race to play it's good with me, focus on BTCC, this is the only place I get to play with my favourite cars and tracks :) Nothing lost by giving it a go, as long as we can find a mutually aceptable time slot...Good luck with that LOL

I agree exposure and the age limitations are major issues here (2old2play's twitter wouldn't even retweet video uploads directing to their site with the logo plastered over the vids)

I also second knight's statement, as long as it's BTCC with cars and tracks we know and love, i'm in.

Well it makes sense now to go with 2 races a month in the Saturday slot for the BTCC series. Mango has the Mod and tracks sorted, I have just created the dedicated thread. Next race next week?

It's ok with me, plus the mod covers a few more seasons to keep us going for a while. smiley

Hey Ink details are on this thread http://www.2old2play.com/forum/divisions/2o2race/race-series/btcc-series... Ignore the dates attached to each race as they are wrong, basically we run in between the Enduro Racers run by Helios at GBR, so the next race is the third of May at 20:00 BST (British Summer Time)
