Star Citizen

If you're familiar with Wing Commander/ Privateer Series of games from the 90's , then you'll be right at home with Star Citizen. Why? Because Chris Roberts who made it initially and built the franchise is back. It's primarily a space sim, there will be elements of a FPS, but not a primary component of it. You can choose to be a Merchant, Bounty Hunter, Pirate or any combonation thereof.

To learn a bit more about the game please go to:

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/about-the-game

The game is being COMPLETELY crowdfunded with a goal of 20 million, currently he's just over 18.5 million.

Any pledge given comes with a ship, if purchased before Nov.26th 2013 you will get lifetime insurance on that ship.

Best place to find more out about that is:

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge

Any pledge starting at the $65 mark and above also comes with access to the Alpha and Beta of the game. Currently there is a Hanger Module (various types depending on pledge) which allows you to take a walk around and inside your ship. A Dogfighting module is expected sometime around December.

I hope you check it out, see if it's something you're interested in.

I'm personally not trying to form an official guild or group at all, just a list of friends we can play with.

Kurupt, are you running the same user name at the RSI forums?

I'm all over this.

Currently have the following:

Aegus Retaliator (LTI)

Aegus Avenger

Super Hornet (LTI)

Aurora LX and LN (LTI for LX)

Can't wait until the Dogfighting module.

Oh, I'm sure you know but for anybody reading this, there are over 300k that have pledge for the Alpha / Beta and we've reached over $35 million in crowd-funding.

See you in the Verse.

I was just looking into this game and I am definitely very interested.  I did not want to pledge if there was a required subscription fee to play the game on it's release and I did read into the current subscription system offered and it seems that it is just something optional and get more and worked similar to pledges except it was not tied to a certain ship.  Do any of you have any more info on the subscription requirement/benefits?

Also, I noticed that pledges cover a certain amount of warranty on your ship.  Does it cover ship repairs from dogfights and what happens when this runs out?  Do you have to pay for repairs in the in game store... and if so, with in game currency or real money?

I couldn't find the answers on the site so if any of you have more insight from the community.

More than happy to answer Cardiac!

There is no actual subscription fee to join the game. The only subscription is for what's called the Centurion or Impirator plans which allow you access to a smaller forum that IMO is a bit more civilized. And other small perks.depending on the $10 or $20 package you choose. Also comes with a monthly online magazine and concept art.

All you need to do is to get into the alpha/beta is buy a pledge which comes with a ship: the cheapest one is:for $40

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/store/316-aurora-mr

They go up from there obviously...

Each ship comes with a certain amount of insurance for replacing the hull only (including the Aurora MN above). Usually it comes with 3 months of insurance, sometimes 6 depending on the ship. With this insurance if your ship gets destroyed you will get a new one like the one you purchased. If you upgraded anything on the ship that will not be replaced under that insurance. But you can purchase additional insurance policies.

The cost for insurance is said to be a minimal one though no numbers have been thrown out yet.

Once the game has been released ANYTHING you see in game can be purchased in game, nothing will be exclusive to RW currency. That being said you can purchase UEE credits with real money if you choose to., though apparently you will only be allowed to puchase so much currency in a given timeframe.

I'm sure you have a laundry list of other questions, so if you can, just create a profile on the website. IM me (KuruptU4Fun) and we can get you into our chatroll so if you've got any other questions we can answer them for you. I think I'm the only one who really checks this thread anymore, and I don't do it frequently enough...

Thanks Kurupt..  I went ahead and pulled the trigger and bought the Origin 300i.  My handle on the website is Cardiac.

I could not find a way to IM you on the site but I did discover the chatroll option.

Couldn't find you in a search either, plug this into your browser: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/FC2 and sign up. That way I can find you a bit easier....
