Good on the league for taking this seriously.  It appears that Gregg Williams' coaching career is over, though.

Hearing the stuff that came out after from Warren Sapp was kinda crazy.  The names mentioned and bounties for sending these top flight QBs out on a stretcher is pretty awful.  Stars are what makes the league...imagine how much the product suffers when Rogers, Brady, Manning, etc are out for the season because someone got paid 10K to take out a knee.  If Warren Sapp is to be believed though, Jeremy Shockey is gonna get jacked up this year.

I'm 99% sure the bounty program has been going on for YEARS, only this was the first time it was set up and run by a coach. But I remember back in '09 after the Vikes beat the Cowboys in the playoffs, a linebacker was pissed at Favre for "running up the score" and offered a bounty (I wish I could find proof of this, it was Brooking. Hard to find all the info from 2 years ago). I'm sure this kind of thing went on for years, but this was just taken a bit to far. You don't treat hall of fame players with that level of violence. I would still like to see a few people burn because of this.

The thing that really burns my ass is the refs letting this play go on. They could see how much Warner and Favre were getting beat up and did nothing to protect them.

The way refs get protected is rediculous. There is never any investigations involving them. I'm sure that if there ever was, it would be deep deep under wraps, protected by the league. If refs are ever proven to be guilty of taking bribes or playing favorites then it will totally screw the league and cost them a ton of money. That would just add a 3rd dimension when it comes to gambling on games.

You know this kind of thing has gone on for a long time with the way Sapp is reacting to it all.

See Tim Donaghy, former NBA ref.
