Revolution

First episode is available for free on http://www.nbc.com/revolution/video/pilot/1415378

I enjoy the premise of this show, for sure. The violence get a little silly because it's on network tv, I think, but, the action itself is still good. Really, it's quite similar to Flashforward, but, I think it's the action scenes that will set it apart.

I have watched the first two episodes and I am not sure if it is the acting, writting or both but something just seems off with this. I find the interaction between the MIles (i think) and his neice to be just akward. Will give it another go next week and see if it is worth continuing.

This.  Also, it's trying to be a combination of Lost and The Hunger Games.  Only problem is Lost and Hunger Games did it better.

I gave the pilot a shot and I will definitely watch more of it. I definitely agree with the Hunger Games analogy and I'll add Walking Dead to the formula above too, since it's sticking to the post-apocalyptic small-community thing which made Walking Dead successful.

Some of the writing is god-awful too, which prevented me from loving it. I groaned when Ben was talking to his daughter and said the line about her mom being gone, killed when she went outside the walls. Like they couldn't figure out a way to ease that small bit of info so they scooped up the plot point with a spoon and shoved it into the viewer's mouth.

However as a Breaking Bad fan I was really excited when I saw Giancarlo Esposito's name in the opening credits. He is great so far.

Yes, this guy is an incredible actor.  He was so good on Breaking Bad.

Also, I agree on the writing but will also chime in on the other actors being a bit weak.  The show doesn't seem like it should be on a prime channel, maybe the Sci-Fi.  I'll probably continue to watch but I don't expect this to make it to next year.  Jericho was a similar show and I thought that was much better.

Couldnt agree more about the Walking Dead comment. That is exactly what I thought during the pilot after the inital scene that shows the power being out and they cut to the Farm 15 years later.

I also agree with Lala Calamari's comments on the actors ans mentioned earlier, the interactions are so weak. The point about it feeling like a SciFi show is also spot on. I may eat my words but I see this show fading away.

I am still watching it.  Why, I don't know.  It's painful at this point.

I tried to watch the first episode. So, the power goes out but all the batteries stopped working? They're not just little tubes filled with electricity, it's chemicals that generate an electric current. Did the blackout turn off chemicals? Or wind turbines. Those don't even have electricity, they're spinning magnets that generate current. How the hell did they turn off magnets? If magnets don't work was the Earth's magnetic field turned off too?

And why does everyone have a damn sword? Power goes out and suddenly everyone's a blacksmith?

And what about the guy that said he worked at Google? He looks like he's in his late 20s and the blackout happened 15 years ago. Google hires kids?

I couldn't even finish the first episode. The whole thing is just retarded. It'll probably get 3 seasons.

This is similar to what I thought when I saw the trailer.  Ms. Plato asked if I wanted to watch the pilot and add the show into our TV rotation, but I just couldn't get over the premise.

Most electrical generation is physical, like how the alternator in a car works.  Or piezoelectric devices, like a quartz watch but in reverse.  How does any worldwide event prevent all electrical generation without immediately killing everyone and everything on the planet?  Unless biochemical electrical processes weren't affected, in which case the show would never have happened, because we'd have converted to biochem "green" energy sources by the time the show started.

Because the cause is supposed to be a mystery, I couldn't suspend disbelief long enough to give it a shot.  Just didn't make any sense at all.

Glad to read that I'm not missing much on the acting / writing front
