Okay so I give in to peer pressure

Okay guys kinda stuck on a decision.  Saved up some money and was planning on getting a new Nvidia 650ti so I could start buying monitors for a triple screen setup.  Then today I happen to notice that Fry's has the Thrustmaster t500 priced at 399.00.  Thats 200 cheaper than I have ever been able to find them.

Now I already have a CSR with pedals but have thought of selling them to get a t500 eventually.  So here is the question of the hour.  Which have you guys found to be the best upgrade, a new wheel or triple screens?

I don't have either.

But if I already had a good set of pedals and a wheel I would go with the triples then sell the old wheel for the new one.

Triples....the csr is a great wheel and i doubt for $400 the t500 would be that much better and id suggest a gtx 670 min. if you go with triples.  I have the gigabyte windforce and iam extremely happy with it!  alot of computer nerds said that a 2gb card would never be able to run triples on high settings but it does no problem.  The only game i cant max out and get a solid 60fps is pcars but its not been optimised yet.  If they can set the game up and polish it so i can get 60fps then you wont need another card for a while :)  ive seen the card for around $349

Yup triples, the CSR is a great wheel, I have one and I made the same decision to go for triples before updating the wheel. I now have the Elite as well and can tell you if I went back in time I would still do it the same way.

Like Kurupt I too use the GTX 670 but unlike him get great framerates in pCars...must be my MoBo and processor helping out there. But he is right in saying the GTX 670 2 gig run triples fine.

K thats 2 for triples.   I've kinda been leaning that way after thinking about it more.  Yea I see that I wrote 650ti and I meant 660ti.  I'll have to look at the 670's then since thats the same price that I've seen some of the 660's at.

I thought you might mean the 660ti, now that is a good card, and the choice between the 3 gig version of that and the 2gig 670 is a tough call. Let your pocket decide, with the 660 you may have to drop a setting or two here or there, but I would also say that none of the next gen Sims are really using these cards to the full yet anyway, once they do you may find the 660ti 3gig can run them a full settings.

Yep, go triples before upgrading from the CSR.  The CSR is a great wheel, I wish I had not sold mine.

I only have a DFGT and I just got up and running with 2 monitors for race 07 and GTR2.  More monitors the better, I am just waiting to pull the trigger to upgrade my machine so I can run triples soon.  Just me running 2 screens is a huge difference and I really want a 3rd screen but that is going to be a while since I have to upgrade everything.

So go triples, you won't regret it!

Thanks guys for all your advice.  So did some research and found a 670 4gb card on newegg.  Found some 24 inch monitors also but none of them list whether or not they can be mounted on a stand.  I did find some at Bestbuy though that have the holes on the back so I can mount them for about the same price.  So far it looks like its going to run about 800 to 900 for everything.

Ammodawg, several of us GBR guys have the EVGA 4 GB Supercharged 670 GPU.  Overall, I think all of us have had great experiences running triples with that card.  I got mine for about $450 or so, and it was worth every penny.  $800-$900 for the monitors and GPU is money well spent.  Once you go triples, you will never want to go back.

Yea after thinking about it, unlike the wheel, the triple monitors will be nice to have for other games like Skyrim, GW2, and such.

Good choice, both Kurupt and I have the 2gig and they run triples with no pain so with the four gig your laughing, and yes I kinda forgot when I got my triples that it wasn't just driving games that were better...and they are big time, but other games as well, when I fired up skyrim I loved the huge new view and in the other games too.
