Last night's Launch

Blizzard has decided in their great wisdom to allow not only every player in NA to join at once, but to open Global Play at the same time as well. This has effectively borked the servers, or at least crowded them up beyond what they could initially hold.

Global Play is what allows you to play outside of your Home Region, but you can only participate in the RMAH (real money auction house) within your home region.

So in effect, we had upwards of 1-4 million people trying to log in to NA servers last night. I got in about an hour of play after an hour of waiting before deciding to head to bed.

Most everything seems to be working fairly well now though.

They servers had been broken since yesterday afternoon.  I tried to watch a bunch of streams on Twitch.tv and every single one of them were stuck at the login screens.  That's why I didn't bother to go do the midnight thing, i knew it would be a waste of sleep time and I wouldn't get to play it anyway.
