Jays stack up!

As a canadian its nice to see the jays make some big moves and try to make a run!

The rogers centre/skydome has become a very sad place to attend ball games since the back to back championships in 92/93

Hopefully the new faces will fill seats and bring that energy back to the city and club......when the dome was packed with 55000 screaming fans back in the early 90's the energy and noise was deafening :) now its quiter than library :(

Still skyptical with alot of the signings

Dickey-old

Buerhrle-old

Melky-juicer

Reyes-injury proned

Johnson-tommy john

The last few yrs the jays have been destroyed by injuries.....7 tommmy john surgeries to the pitching staff, hopefully they can cure the bug and have a good season.....only time will tell!

A guy I went to high school with is one of those pitchers out with the Tommy John. I really hope I'll get to see him pitch again. It's fun to watch the dude who sat behind me in Freshman English on national tv or on the field (when they're in town).

they needed help and a solid pitching staff. None of those guys are going to be aces. Dickey is a knuckle-baller, and we know how fickle they are. Johnson is a solid pick-up. 2 years off a tommy john is when most pitchers pick their old skills back up. Buerhrle is a solid number 3 who is really consistent, and a quality left hander. I'm worried about melky because generally juicers, when they're off the sauce tend to lose power and drop their BA's by .050. That still makes him a solid .280 hitter, which is good in a pitching dominated league like it is now.

What this means is the Jays have a dominant offensive line-up, with worst case scenario middling pitching staff. This type of team has done well in the past as long as the pitching staff stays consistently above average...not great, but above average.

Take this as a good opinion of your team. I'm a boston fan, so admitting this is hard.

As a Cards fan and a closeted LaRussa-hater, I'll be rooting for Colby Rasmus to put up big numbers.  He will undoubtedly start off hot, the question is whether he can sustain his ability for a whole season and not tail off into .220-batting-average-land...
