Hello,
So, in what I can only call a decision made in a post E3 haze, Doodi decided it would be a good idea for me to lead the Gears of War forum. 
So, here's a little about me: I'm a married father of five who never outgrew the enjoyment I got from the first Atari I owned when I was young - even into my 40s. I've been a 2o2p member since 2007, when I got my first XBox (I started with the 360), and am a big fan of Gears of War (the first MP game I played on Live) and Halo (the 2nd game I played on Live). However, I was lucky enough to see mention about 2old2play on Xbox Live, when they had a community playdate. I was quick to realize playing with adults was much better than public games with a bunch of mean spirited pre-pubescents.
So, I'm now charged with helping the Gears community grow. And that's where I'm looking for input from the community. I'd like to gauge interest in getting some community playdates going for Gears in the next couple of months. Also, if any of you are in a clan (or Group...I'm still not quite up to speed on the V3 lingo yet) that's into Gears, encourage your members to participate in this forum as well. And, if you have any other ideas/things you'd like to see from the 2o2p Gears Community, submit those here in this thread.

Johnny, thanks for taking the lead on this. I would also see the community grow into something a little more than it is now. Gears is such a great game, i can only imagine how much fun the MP is with fellow 2o2p gamers.
I think at this point the best thing to do is get the FOF tag built up with other people that are interested in the game. It really helps to bridge the connection between the people in this forum and the XBL tags on the XBox. From there it is really easy to bring other folks together that are not already friends. So if you are reading this and you are at all interested in playing Gears (2vp, Horde, Beast, whatever) please join the tag Jognny created (see link above). If you know someone that also is interested in playing, encourage them to join the tag as well.
Once we get a pool of folks interested (and on the FOF tag) I think having a couple of playdates would be fun. Not sure what that would entail though since I have not played anything other than Horde.
Glad to see you taking the reigns Hustler. Anyway I can help just let me know. I've been on a year-long or so hiatus from the site, but wanna get back into things and start being more active in the community. I'm a gearhead so this is where I wanna be. hehe.
I'm all for jumping in some Gears with fellow 2ol2play folk. I've got a couple of friends who I'm gonna talk into joining the site so they can jump in the fun as well.
I'm down for anything Gears oriented. Campaign, MP, Horde or Beast....all of it.
I shot a message to Hustler directly and I sent a friend request to the gears fof tag. So just lemme know if you need any help Hustler, or if anyone else wants to jump in matches during the week or weekend. If you see me online, hit me up.
Guys. not to be rude, but there has been a Gears FOF Tag for a while...are we no longer using this?
Not being rude, just a little late to the conversation. What is the tag? I found one other one, sent out a FR and never got anything. Johnny could not find the owner so another one was started. It is still early, if there is a more established one then maybe we should go that route. Anything to help the community go would be much appreciated for sure!
I did find the owner recently, and he said he wasn't maintaining the tag anymore, so that's why we have the new tag in place. What I want to do with the new tag is give the info to the other admins at 2o2p, so if I'm in a busy stretch or something happens where I can no longer find the time to maintain it, it won't go away and force everyone to join another FoF tag.
I'm hoping that we get more participation and if there's anything I can do to help with the Gears community here, please let me know. In a way, it makes sense to start a new tag for V3. Many of the people that were on the older tags have moved on to other sites and to other pursuits so it might be better to start fresh.
That said, I'm in Southern California so if there are any later night gamers on the East Coast or any other West Coast Gears gamers here, let's get it on!

understood...and that makes sense. It was set up for Gears 3 if I recall correctly, but I'm sure it needs to be updated for V3 and Judgement...

Hello. My name is... my name is Loki619 or L0KI619 (the 0 is a zero) on Xbox Live. It's been approximately 20 minutes since my last drink and that's only because I ran out... Wait, what? Oh crap, wrong meeting. Sorry about that. I like to play Gears and I am addicted to it... or at least I was until everyone else started losing interest in it. I'm not really sure what it is about this game that has really polarized many of its players. It kind of brings out the best AND the worst in people - have you guys played public ranked lately? Sheesh. Seriously speaking though, I'd like to see the gears community here on 2old2play revitalized so count me in on anything going on here. That said, let's get something going this Friday! I think I might be the only West Coast player here though... Which sucks because by the time I get on, most of you Eastern boys (and girls) are probably signing off or are too shit-faced to shoot straight (What am I saying? I can't shoot straight when I'm not drinking)...

Gatsu is trying to revive the Friday Night Gears n Beers private matches that used to be a big deal round here in the gears 1 days. Only prob is, only the two of us showed up for it LoL.... so hopefully that's not an indication on how dead the 2o2p gears community is and more an indication that it's summer and people are going outside again.
There are plenty of people to play Gears with.....you just have to know where to look! :)

I would like to start a 2old2play Clan for Gears, I’m a Gears fan and was in a Clan here on 2old2play called Digital Violence, and it broke apart from 2old2play and pretty much dissolved since. I'm not a fan of 1st person shooters and I know of a lot of former clan members that thought breaking away from 2old2play was a mistake and would like to come back.
Is there any chance that a Gears Clan can be formed?

I'm on eastern standard time. Don't really have a set night that I play. I'm open to whenever others are on to play.
Occasionally I'm on Friday nights with some guys, but other than that I haven't had a dedicated group to play Gears with.
