Guild Wars 2 pre-sale going on, get Extras and Beta access
The Guild Wars 2 pre-sale is going on now. If you pick it up now you will get guranteed access to all the Beta event weekends (the first one late April) , a Hero Ring which gives you +2 to what looks like all major stats and you get access to the full game 3 days before the game launches on 6/26 (so you get to start playing on the 23rd). This will give you first dibbs on picking your character and guild names and building your characger up .

As a sidenote if anyone is considering this...in order to take advantage of the early entry beta, you MUST order from one of their identifies retail "partners" which is a pay in full scenario at the time of the transaction (when ordering). Amazon for instance does not qualify under these conditions because they bill at ship, so you will not qualify for beta.
I looked everywhere and I could not find any mention of a release date on their website. Is it really due to be released on 6/26? I wanted to hold off on the preorder until I could see a release date posted.
There is no release date and I wouldnt believe any of the supposed dates until it comes from Arena Net.
P.S. I'm so excited for this game I could puke. I WANT THIS TO BE OUT NOW!!!!!

Wow Doodi, never would of guessed you were a fan of Guild Wars. Did you play all the previous ones?
I did Burnt, however I wasn't as keen on what they did in GW1. The ideas they are bulding in GW2 seem to be downright groundbreaking however. I can't wait!
I think the release date came from Gamestop. So take it with a grain of salt :)
I haven't pre-ordered yet but I'm thinking i will even though i'm not a PC gamer or an MMO gamer, i do love RPGs. This is the first year in over 10 years that there is actually stuff on the PC i'm looking forward to.

I think RPG gamers will like this game more so than most mmo's in that GW2 has the world event system. It's pretty cool how it works. You can just be walking along, and someone will run up to you from a smal village and proclaim they are being overtaken by some whatever. Everyone in the immediate vicinity will be notified of this world event and can go help. That's just an elementary example of how it works
i pre-purchased my copy the day it was an option. any 2O2P guild yet?
who is playing this weekend in the beta?
i am will but i will out of town for most of the weekend :( but will play as much as i can.
There will be a good sized group of us playing it this weekend, and a guild will be forthcoming as soon as it becomes available. Doodi runs all the MMO guilds, so he'll be setting it up on hour one I'm sure. Check back here and one of us will make a post about it as soon as it is created.

well my client is all ready to go on my computer. just waiting for friday to come around. i wont get much time to play as i will be out of town this weekend but the time i will be home i will be on for sure.
doodi, when u streaming GW2 ? I don't want to pre-order it until i know what the game really is about so I'll check your live streams out over teh weekend and see what the game's really about.
I'm planning on streaming from start to finish. So about 8pm central until sunday. So long as it doesn't slow down my gaming to much I'll have it up 24/7
Ok cool, i'll setup my laptop so i can watch your GW2 stream while I'm system linking my gears 3 machines grinding some medals out. It'll help break up the monotony :lol:
Hmm, seriously considering this. Messed around with GW1 for a while, remember having fun with it for a while (just me, myself & I). Tried WoW, but dislike the monthly fee when I don't know how much time I will actually be spending in it (plus w/ all the hacks & stealing, really didn't care to get to involved). Going to look into this some more.

Crap, all they got left at the moment from the GW site is the CE. I don't know that I'm ready to shell out $150. Going to sleep on it and see what I think in the morning.
I would say just wait till after this beta weekend. They stopped sales because so many people purchased the game that they couldnt get everyone into the open beta. They will have the other versions of the game back up soon.
That's the direction I was leaning (hoping they do). I play Civ V a bit, but certainly not $150 often. I honestly don't know how often I'd pick this up (once or twice a week?), as I am a sim racer at heart.....that happens to love a good fantasy adventure.
Well, I did just watch a bunch of people get turned into pigs so they could go truffle hunting...
I"ve spent quite a few hours watching various streams. The PvP arena stuff doesn't interest me, it's just capture the circle. the PVP Planet War looks pretty interesting though, but i'm not sure I have the attnetion span to keep shooting at a gate for half an hour until it busts open and then rush in to take the castle.
What's the non-PVP stuff in the game about? Do you only fight NPCs in that mode? Seems like any time i've watched non-pvp streams it just people waundering around without any real direction or purpose. I'd like to understand this mode more.
Some of the PvE is typical RPG stuff. However, there are large differences that make this game great. There are area quests that require multiple people to beat. The good part though is you don't have to group. You all get vicinity credit and your rewards are based on your contribution to the event. The cities are enormous, the graphics are great.
