Thoughts so far.

Now that we have had a day with the PS4, what are you initial thoughts about the system?

I cannot believe how much faster the OS is.

Being able to go to the menu from in a game seamlessly, absolutely amazes me.

Party chat works great.

Being able to plug my apple earbuds or any 3.55 headphones and get full sound and chat is really sweet.

Call of Duty's graphics blow. I have yet to have any hiccups or framerate drops though. I suck at MP too.

The news feed is messed up. Some of my real name friends show up with their names, other still with their gamertags.

The batteries on the controller don't nearly last as long as the DS3's. Anyone else getting around 8 hours?

The little headset thing that came with the system works better than I expected.

I seem to be encountering a glitch where it takes me back to the menu randomly.

I purchased Killzone from the playstation store, It was a 7 gig download. I attempted to play Multiplayer, but it says I need to download the multiplayer. Where that is exactly is beyond me at the moment.

The system itself is really small and quiet, unlike my ps3, which sounded like a space shuttle launching.

Having my facebook photo for my picture is great, because I think I'm so damn sexy.

All in all, I am very happy with the PS4. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.

I am pretty happy so far. I like the ability to adjust screen size to your actual screen. I have a projector screen that is 101" diagonally and it will go up to that size.

resogun is pretty fun and the kids like it. I like just watching them play actually.

I love using any headset with controller.

ps+ is very nice

so far it's been a lot of fun

1.) couldn't log in to psn for hours yesterday. Thus I couldn't start my big downloads for bf4 and cod. I did finally log in about 9:30 and all has been fine.

2.) the graphics on nba 2k14 and battlefield single player were both stunning. I play on a 46" in the man cave and it was crystal clear and seamless. I haven yet to see a bog down of resolution.

3.) I really like the os. I wasn't sure that would be the case coming from a very good one in Xbox 360. The menus are easy to navigate and quick to respond.

4.) party chat works well and the ear bud and mic are surprisingly clear. I was thinking they would be super cheap and cheesy but they are actually nice.

5.) The machine is so damn quiet and I like how the power button has to be press and isn't just optical sensor. I can't tell you guys how many times my cat has jumped in front of my Xbox to turn it off right in the middle of an cod match. It's hard to believe he is still alive!

6.) These 50 gb downloads are taking forever! I should have just traded in both bf4 and cod ghosts for new ps4 discs.

Haven't tried twitch or even see if I game record my game plays using el gato but so far, it's brilliant !

I like it so far.

Saw the issues with PSN during the day but by the time I received my PS4 (3pm), everything was working normally.

I swapped the HD out immediately with a 1TB WD drive, no issues, took all of 15 minutes.  Faster to swap on the PS4 than on the PS3 as far as OS loads go.

Chat works very well, there's alays a first time for everything, huh?  smiley

Killzone and Battlefield look gorgeous.  AC4 looks great, too.  Haven't popped in CoD yet.

Streaming to Twitch is simple and works quite well.  Unlike streaming in Black Ops 2, broadcasts aren't saved to your Twitch.tv stream (unless I haven't found a setting for that yet).

Taking a screenshot and posting to Facebook is incredibly simple and works great.  I haven't tried to do the movie upload yet.  Maybe today with AC4.

Downloads seem faster this time around.  Not sure if it's the hardware, the improved PSN, or both.

Still poking around, but so far so good.

I'm definitely going to be swapping out the HD.  500 GB sounds like a lot, but these games are just eating that space up.  It's crazy really.

Loving it so far.  Wasn't able to get mine until after work around 4:30 yesterday afternoon.  Swapped out the hard drive to a 1tb hybrid drive and just as others have said it was super easy.  Love the new OS and menu's.  Leaps and bounds better and faster than the PS3.  I didn't have time to get it setup until almost 1am and I stayed up until 5am playing.  Played Need for Speed (graphics are great and it's fun but nothing revolutionary really), BF4 (graphics were awesome, better than COD), COD:Ghosts ( not the best graphics but the gameplay is typical COD which means it's smooth and fast, haven't seen any framerate issues at all).  Looking forward to gaming with you guys.  Now if we only had GTA5 on PS4 I don't think i'd ever turn it off.....

I like everything so far. Oh wait, there is one thing. I really dislike my real name showing up on my screen for any reason. I thought I selected the option to just show people my gamertag, but it seems like my real name is showing up on certain screens.

Your real name will only show up to people whom you have sent and accepted a real name request to. The ones that you see are only viewable by you(or people at your house).

I however, don't mind using my real name. If anyone wants to send me a request, have at it.

Your real name on your home screens and such is just for you.  Unless you specifically give someone permission to see your real name or set it up so your real name is used, everyone else will see your PSN ID.

I thought I messed up the privacy settings at first.  smiley

OK,that sounds fine then. I thought I had screwed up the privacy settings as well. For the most I'm glad I went with the PS4. BF4 is having issues, but when I can play it is amazing.

Very fast and smooth OS and the chat was clear and solid. Games run great for the most part (lookin' at you EA). I'm running discs right now and the machine is nice and quiete after it puts the info on the hard drive. System is warm but not hot and the exhauste is surprisingly cool.

Since my pulse headset is not supported yet I'm using a set of phone stereo buds with a mic. If you're in the same boat a quick double PS button press will give you access to adjust the volume.

I also tried the voice commands, you can use it with only the mic and it worked just not well all the time. I felt like a douche talking to a machine.

Overall I'm pretty happy and look forward to the OS fleshed out over the years.

edit: Vita remote is really smooth and awesome!

Its everything i expected it to be. Finally got my acct synched around 12 pm yesterday and all has been smooth. Pete controller seems to go around 7-8 hours on a full charge but with the led constantly on im sure that takes a small enough toll on it. Camera works better than i thought it would and voice control works great. Gave it a 24 hour "stress" test and it was barely warm this morning. Im very pleased with my purchase... I still hate Ghosts and am trading that piece of shit for battlefield. Resogun is awesome as is Contrast.

Ghosts is horrible. The graphics look like an upscaled Playstation 3 game. I'm so over COD.

I personally am very impressed with the look of the ps4 version compared to PS3. I'm overall happy with Ghosts.

Having a lot of issues with Battlefield 4.  Randomy getting kicked out of matches and even the home screen, server filtering seems broken, cannot get into a conquest match.  How do you party up with Friends?  I remember it being really easy in Bad Company 2.

starting to see the same occasionally. I'm reporting it. Hope they are working on it. It's a new system. These things are going to happen. Overall, I'm loving bf4. I haven't got to play with anyone yet so I don't know how the party thing works. I know bf4 doesn't really care about your party. They will get you on a server together, but that's about it. Hope to play with some soon. Where are the battlefield players?  I don't see to many.

Love mine so far.

It has taken some time to get used to the new XMB - since they essentially flipped it from the PS3 everything seems backwards to me, LOL.  Some things I can't figure out how to do or you can't yet, or just seems more difficult.  Deleting things  (used to get a menu from triangle that I sorely miss), check battery level, turn off the controller, etc.

It is taking me a bit to get used to the controller - I find I still prefer the old PS3 way of using the upper buttons for shooting instead of the triggers.  Killzone and COD let me flip to the old way, but I noticed Warframe does not, but I'm starting to get used to it I guess.

Tried to watch some gameplay of Assassin's Creed but none of the videos would load.  Either that or it just took so long and I gave up

Resogun is fucking awesome and gives me that "this wasn't possible last gen" feeling I always like from new consoles.

I'm amazed that people say "there are no games at launch" because between the ones I bought, free games from PS+ and the free to play games, I have WAY more than I can handle already.

I read in one of the gaming forums(Machinama/IGN) that the problem with the HDMI is one of the pins in the back of the PS4 HDMI connector is bent . They repaired it by straightening the pin back..

The only issues that I have ahd with my PS4 was the initial hookup of the hardware, the HDMI cable that was supplied was really tight connecting to both my TV and the back of the system, but once they went in, and unplugged and replugged back in, then everything fired up nicely (have had no issues since then for hardware)

The other problem is a software issue and as far as I'm concerned is EA's fault not Sony, I purchased both BF4 and the Premium Edition of the game; however the bloody code will not be accepted what-so-ever, I called Sony and they blamed EA, and of course EA is blaming Sony saying it's the 1.5 firmware update, I honestly don't give a shit whose at fault, lets simply correct the problem, whicih neither side wants to do.

So what's the solution??? contacting my friend John who is the assistant manager at my local EB Games and get another code from him and hopefully everything will be resolved??? otherwise I'm out $50.00 for jack shit.

If you have a premium account it should keep track of all your stuff across all systems.  Have you thought of just logging into your bf4 acct on the pc and trying to enter the code that way?

Glad to read some positive feedback about the PS4. Seeing a lot of negative stuff around the internet. Right now I do not know what system I will be getting.

@SoulTerror, just remember this, negative feedback stems from people that are having problems and going to the net to A. Voice their frustration or B. Try to get help and answers.  Its like any game out there, head to the forums and its usually full of people complaining.  Especially an MMO, always complaints about some class being more overpowered than another.

Its hard to find the same ammount of positive feedback because those people are just enjoying their system.  I'm sure this weekend we will be reading about the X1 having some issues.  Its just part of going in day one.  For the amount of systems made there is going to be some faulty ones.

That said I really really hope my X1 works without a hitch lol!

OK, still loving things

Either from playing a ton or just the controller uses more power, I do find myself charging more often.  Maybe I'll pick up a charging station.

The more I've used things, the more I like it and have gotten used to it or just "found what I was looking for."  The XMB definitely needs folders or something.  I can easily see it getting out of hand.

Resogun is still awesome.

Used Apple iphone earbuds for full game and chat audio and they worked great, although I didn't actually talk so not sure about that.  But it definitely makes me think "real" headphones on less necessary.

I have heard the earbuds don't work for chat.  Some do, and some don't.  My Klipsch don't.  There is a google doc out there somewhere with a list of headphones that work and ones that don't.  It's funny how some work for chat and others don't when essentially they are all very similar.

Still loving it. Although BF4 keeps giving me an error and booting me to the PS4 home screen. It doesn't matter if I'm playing SP or MP. I haven't been able to get into 1 game of multi-player yet, but I'm not worried as I'm sure it will right itself in due time. Again being a day 1 adopter these are issues I knew I would be facing. I am thinking of grabbing the accidental warrantty plan for 59.99. Not bad for 36 months of coverage.
