Remote play BF4 style

Looks pretty damn smooth. Not sure I would use my Vita for something like bf4 but there it is.

LOl...I used to have a scion XB that I showed at car shows.(also daily driver) I still have a big spongebob and a patrick that I put in my "square car" sitting in the garage.

I have never been a fan of the AC games but that footage looked intriguing.

I always tried remote play on the original psp and thought it was cool. Have to admit the Vita remote play looks pretty good in the video.

Yeah but the remote via psp didn't have enough support, even less with the vita. There was only a handfull of games I could play, Poker and PixelJunk Eden off the top of my head.  Glad they have dedicated hardware to handle it now. Hopefully I can sit on the couch and bother the wife with explosions and expletives while she watches garbage on tv.

I would do remote play on 2D and RPG type games.  Not FPS.

My only question is how would the extra 2 triggers map? To the touchpad maybe? Would make it hard for FPS's that's for sure. Otherwise, I'm sold, or a sucker.

I thought I read somewhere thast the other trigger buttons are mapped to the touchpads.

By default the DualShock 4 controller's R2/L2 are mapped to the top left and right of the Vita's rear touchpad. R3/L3 are the bottom left and right. The DS4's touchpad is mapped to the front touchscreen on the Vita as well. A small light blue overlay appears to indicate when you're touching the rear touchpad.

Developers can customize this layout too. For example, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag has a custom layout which it explains onscreen when you play with the Vita (More at PA Report):

  • L1/R1 mapped to the rear touchpad.
  • L2/R2 mapped to the Vita's shoulder butons.
  • L3/R3 mapped to the bottom corners of the front touchscreen on the Vita.

Map functions can be controlled from the front touchscreen as well.

Need for Speed Rivals and Killzone Shadow Fall both use the Vita shoulder buttons for L2 and R2, although the on-Vita control reference screen says otherwise.

Hopefully the next version of the Vita firmware will allow us to customize the controls.

I haven't personally tried it yet. There was a video of a guy in New York that used his 4g phone to tether the vita and he was playing Resogun. There was some lag but it wasn't unplayable. I'll try to remember my vita monday and give it a shot. The problem is the network at work is kinda slow.

I also need to fire up Resogun with my kid on the vita and test out the co-op.

I haven't been able to get it working outside my house. Vita  never finds the PS4. Maybe something specific to my router setup or a bug.

works great at home.

Sounds like a firewall issue.

Definitely. I tried Sony's port recommendations and even set the PS4 as the default host. No joy.

i even tested from my guest with the PS4 on without success.

Are you shutting it down or putting it in standby?

I heard you can't connect to it from a shutdown state if you're outside of your local network.

Best Buy has the 8g Vita bundle for $169.00 today. I had some reward points so I ordered one. Deal seemed right.

A piece of advice:  Buy a 32 Gig card.  You will need the space for all of the free games available.

I just fired it up at work and it was pretty good. Played a quick game of resogun. I had some lag but that might be because my work wifi is 'g' and only a 1.0Mbs up and 9.7Mbs down according to the Vita. My ps4 is wired and I think it was about 25 down and 9ish up according to the ps4.

It worked surprisingly well.
