Grabbed a Vita

So I was waiting and contemplating on grabbing one but at 129.99 I couldn't beat it, so here are my thoughts after using it for 2 days.

It's a pretty f'in sweet little handheld. The graphics are just as good as the PS3 and the screen resolution is the bee knees. It's a bit awkward for a guy with big hands like me for holding until I realized I was holding it all wrong. The analog stick placement is a bit lower than I'd like it to be but still easy enough for me to use.

The UI is customizable which is nice but the music at the dashboard is getting on my nerves. The rear touch pad, capacitive screen and tilt functions are rolled into what games I've played nicely without it feeling like a forced gimmick... especially for Uncharted: GA. Gravity Rush is pretty sweet, Sly looks awesome but I don't care for Soul Sacrafice. I grabbed a 8gb memory card because GS was out of the 16gb they had on sale and I was able to download quite a few games and still have room left. My biggest gripe is the SONY proprietary memory card and even that isn't a biggie.

It's great because with having a PS4,PS3 and a Vita I'm able to experience all that plus has to offer and I have more than gotten my 49.99 out of Plus for the amount of games I have. Now the biggest reason I bought it... PS4 remote play. Yes it works and it works well. I played Resogun, Contrast and NBA2K14 without any issues. I can easily say this is one of the best features for the Vita and if you have a PS4 you are almost doing yourself a dis-service if you don't have one. Can I see myself using all the time? No but I can see myself using enough that the money spent was not wasted.

I picked one up too at Best Buy for $175 plus $15 GC back.  They had 16gb cards for $30 so I snagged one of those too.  So far I agree with all your points.  Proprietary memory cards that are outrageously expensive are nothing new from Sony, but the handheld is slick as shit.  FYI, you can turn off that dashboard music in Settings :-) (Settings > sound & display > uncheck System music)

With PS+ I loaded a ton of games onto it already, but still had to buy Guacamelee ($4 on PSN sale), Tearaway (digital code only $20 on amazon), and Killzone Mercenary ($30 amazon digital code), so my 16gb card is now full.

The 5" OLED is amazingly bright and colors are crisp, Guacamelee and Hotline Miami look phenomenol.  Also, the sleep/resume function is fantastic, when is Sony going to patch that into PS4? :-)

Remote Play is slick too, I only tried it with LEGO Marvel so far and it was fairly smooth, but lagged real bad in one spot.

Overall loving the Vita, definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Is there a way to set the sleep manually or is it just on it's own after a certain amount of time?

If you tap the power button on the top left of the Vita it will go to sleep.  There is also a setting in Settings that lets you set a timer in case you put it down, the default is 1 minute.  Tap power button or PS button to wake it back up
