Goodbye Playstation 4....

At least for a month. My disk drive is having ejecting issues again. This time I cannot stop it. It wakes in the middle of the night beeping and ejecting for no reason. Sony is sending me a recovery kit in 2-5 working days. After I send it in it may take a few weeks before it is shipped back to me.

I guess I'll be missing Destiny's launch..... :(

I can still play downloaded games until the box arrives. Maybe I'll get a day or two of Destiny in. This happened at the worst time. I just purchased a 2 TB hard drive too.

Does Sony not have an advanced exchange program like MS where they send you a new one and you send your broken one to them?  That sucks.

I already prepurchase the digital version on the Playstation network. The box will be here Tuesday and it will be 7 to 10 days for it to return. I'll just have to wait I guess.

I was having huge issues with this as well. Finally got mine to stop and hasn't done it since. I will try and find the link to the Sony help page. You may have already tried it though.

It's basically doing the opposite of manually ejecting a disc. Take the glossy section off, in the grill down the side you will barely see a screw. Have to turn it the opposite way from ejecting (can't remember which). This moves the ejecting mechanism back slightly. Leave the console unplugged standing vertically for a few hours. Put it back flat and plug in.

Mine was ejecting the damn disc every few hours and hasn't done it since.

edit: found the link. Remember, you want to turn the screw the opposite way from the instructions.

I can confirm that this method works. My Playstation has not had the ejecting issue a single time since trying this. Thanks man, you saved me the hassle of sending my system in for repair.

I skipped the standing the console vertically though. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I fyou still have your PS3 you could rent a copy of Destiny for it and just play that until you get it back.  Doesn't progress transfer between platforms?

I've been using it all day without a single drive issue. Very, very happy right now. I also installed the 2 Terabyte without any issues. One of the strange effects from the new drive is I no longer get the Playstation health warning after I wake my PS4 up. Instead of having to go through 10 seconds of crap, it wakes instantly.

Now in the process of downloading my games while I watch the Bucs lose.

Same ol' Buc ball without the dominating defense. Vintage 80's.

Glad to see it helped you as well.

The reason to stand it vertically is to make sure the internal arm moves as far back as possible. Just turning the screw alone does not work for everyone.
