XBox locking up seconds into login.

My Xbox starts up and runs fine as long as I don't try to log into a Live account. Totally locks up if I try any of my live accounts for Silver or Gold.

Anyone else have that problem? I first tried logging in this aft.

Yes, installed last night. No problems. Played all night.

I just discovered that if I turn on Halo 4 first then select my profile I can login. Don't know any side effects yet.

I may unplug from network clear cache and desktop if possible. Plug into network and see if it downloads the destop again.

You may need to check to see if your HDD is corrupted and/or has gone bad. Pull up the guide menu (do not log-in) and navigate to System Settings > Storage. If you have a bad tag, it will show up as "corrupted".

A similar situation happened to me over the summer in which my HDD became corrupted. I moved all my content off the HD and onto a USB drive, then reformatted and moved everything back. Thankfully that fixed the problem, otherwise it would have meant buying a HDD.

Good luck.

Thanks to all for the info.

I temporarily worked around it by starting Halo 4, selecting my profile and playing away. OK

I quit Halo 4 to the dashboard. OK

Logged out of profile. OK

Logged into profile. OK

Turned off XBox. OK

Turned on XBox. OK

Logged into Profile. OK

Problem seems to be gone for now.

Haven't tried it yet but looks like a lot of Canadians are being effected.  Wonder if it was limited to Canada only?

I noticed that too. Guess we were just too awesome for it to handle.

Yeah, that was me.  They had as many as five, but they froze to death.  One is a Mountie, the other is Deep.

I haven't froze to death yet. In fact, I have so much heat in my igloo I can't stop it from melting. It's a full time job just to keep it together.

You need to reinforce the inside with an insulating layer of back bacon.  Use maple syrup as an adhesive.  Sheesh...that's igloo maint 101 man...RTFM.  99

Blasphemy! That would be a waste of good bacon.

There is a manual for this? Obviously you haven't read "The mans guide to life". Rule #1: Throw manual in fire.
