xbox 360 rebuild

update. I tore a xbox apart in 2 minutes and had it working in 15. I never tore one apart before.  as i worked on many things in my life i noticed some coils. These add questions to me, why? Why would microsoft add coils, coils are to slow down power. If a reducer would do the samething, than why would they custom make these. (I have 2 tore apart and they are the same). I also noticed, microsoft/computer techs say you can't inter change parts. When so far, for it just takes a rebuild from one broken part to the other. Also if a hard drive says 60 gig, and when erased, it only 30? These xbox360 where new and bought by me, (2007 the other 2009). No one has touched them but me. (except the 60 gig hard drive came from my son's xbox which I replaced with a slim and I gave his to my oldiest daughter with my swap of a 20 gig) I sure look forward to total tare apart. right down to the gears in the drive. I also noticed a magnetic field, Why? Why? Why? If i take my knowlege of electric and magnet created by electric, it could be a timer, than i could understand the custom coils. It could even be a single back to its server. Any one have any Idea's on this. I am after the meaning of why does microsoft xbox's crap out. (besides of not enough gigs to save the run time on the machine). So if you are looking for answers to xbox problems, maybe I can  help in the future. I am not a programer, nor interested in it. I am interested in creating computerized artwork. I never shop much, for that takes money. This leaving me retarded on programs thats out there. I only heard about photoshop. I only know that its what i seem to be looking for, but goes from $99 to $700.         I thank you guys so much for the input, I will be checking on them. But in the long run, I am looking for realistic artwork productions programming.  As the best way to explain it, eddie the mascot for iron maiden. i can paint him in a small program on forza. as he is created as a cartoon and has grown into real like. As I use simple shapes and want to learn to do him with a real program.   If I had my health I would go to college to learn this. I really would. i simply made it thru 5 heart attach, leaving me with many problems. this leaving me with no options but to take my time I can give to learn this. This would be the reason of asking those that would and can afford to donate there old broken down xbox. giving me sometthing to do. I just mearly state may main goal.  Thanks guys

    For those that have driver problems. I believe its a very simply fix. The old xbox runs hot as it stays running, resulting in the break down of the white grease microsoft use on the driver. As the fans run and suck in dirt that collect to the moving greasy parts. This creates a sticky mess. So if your xbox is not opening/reading or simply clicking as it reads. It's a good chance its just needs to be clean and regreased. I do not have that on hand to fix mine, today. I will be checking on the break down of silicone for heating up. If it handles the heat, i will be using that compared to white grease, atleast on the plastic parts. Cost more, but does not break down as fast as grease will.  I have never use silicone for anything hot/warm, but it out last grease by 300 percent in the cold, on metal to plastic. so even as a poor man, i will justify the extra 2 bucks for this upgrade.     Major note;   watch your step when taking off the metal top plate of the driver. there are 2 rubber washers that need to be set to protect the cover of the lay down of the plate. If not set right you will get a ground out,resulting in damage to your driver. But it's really simple. just use electrical tape on the inside of your top metal plate, if you have to. I say this for there is a very small one,that may have already come off just by movement of your xbox. They should have been siliconed down in the 1st place.   I speak of 2 different type of silicone, one grease base the other caulking. (100% silicone).          As a professional, 100% silcone is only good for glueing, its worthless for anytype of caulking. (You use it to set a sink, not caulking a sink.)  

 cooter, i understand your concept. keep in mind i do not know the parts name yet.. but thats what I am talking about. It only 2 screws, 3 clipped wires and only soider 6 wires. very simple. what I don't know is why, the change of different boards if the parts are the same. why did microsoft do this? Was it a geek brain fart or was it to make them hard to fix, by changing programs Or did they import them.   Did they use, different numbers but the same program, on some? I will find out tomorrow if the 2007 will work in the 2009.  They are the same plain jane xbox 360's. One white the other halo. The hard drives work in both so why not the drivers. The main mother boards are the same, but have a few minor changes in  diots. (if thats the word for them) ones blue the other is red and black ones, black ones much taller and have 2 more than the other one, does. I am very much interested in finding out.

correction, it is the cd driver that is vibrating and fan making the feel of magnetic pull in the cooling blades.      but the 2007 cd driver does work in the 2009 xbox. now the 2007 stopped opening up, but out of it case, works fine.very noisy, looks like there is no grease left on it. so now I have 2 xbox's that didn't need much attention, but the knowledge of knowing what is wrong with it. my advice to those that have a xbox that the draw does not work or does not read. It doesn't take much to fix them. very simple. the 2cd driver has both rubber mounts glued down.   now the 2007 mother board for driver is much bigger, different numbers, yet works. the mechinical parts are the same!! Now if you had to swap 2007 mother board to the 2009. The 07 has eight wires, but only need to hook up 6, for the 09 is much more compact and runs 6 wires that continue to its propose. A piece of cake!  I am only saying that you can replace drivers a lot easier than what a tech would tell you. They are to lazy or just don't know how to sodier. so now i will get a hold of my daughters elite xbox, for that has the same damn problem. it doesn't read! I bet I will fix her's by simply swaping out mother boards on the drivers or show they will work.  It may take me a few days to get her xbox. but will put the one back together with a full clean job and greased.  I kid you not, they are simple to take apart, the trick is to find the clips to pop apart the plastic case, watch a you tub video, I did.

As some of you may know, that I moved from the state of Mn. to Indiana. This move put me about 4 miles from Steve Davis otherwise known as motorhead61. We have meet twice now as he just showed up here bring me a broken xbox360. Thanks so much "Steve".  He told me that its the 4 ring of death, which I understand it to be the mother board. I really look forward to tare this one apart to look deep inside of the mother board and try and see what part/parts are burnt, needs replaced. will keep you updated on this project.                                                                                             I got to talk to him about xbone1 and show him some tricks i use in painting on forza4. I was working on skullcandy for a reflection logo. As Steve likes to tune, paint and race.       

              Update on steve's xbox, It was a 2009 and I could not tare it a part do to nothing really wrong with it. Just needed to be cleaned and greased. It is up and running like new. The nices cd drive I seen so far, but doesn't have the update for running cooler.I do not understand why my 06 halo3 addition has this cooler on it but steve's 09 does not.  I almost tore it fully a part, but simply wanted to see the 4 rings of death. Now his xbox wasn't that dusty, but dusty enough to over heat and leave a small oil spot near the driver on motherboard. Steve gave me this xbox on broken terms, which it was not. I simply serviced it and messaged him, what was wrong with it and he may come and pick it up anytime. I thank Steve for the time I got to spend on it to learn more about them. Thanks Steve/motorhead.

           key notes for those that are cleaning their xbox's. Do not spray air on fan blades to make them move. This will result in creating a electric charge that may back fire into you mother board creating a big problem. unplug or hold fan blades to stop them from moving.  Do not spray any air on or near the disk drive, this could cause metal into key settings and will wreck the driver. ( these are magnetic drivers).very strong magnets in them... I have seen many people talk about replacing the lazer, i think this is not a big problem as the settings have been changed by loosed screws from over heating. It takes a ohm's reader and the key settings to reset the driver settings. very simple. (ohm's reader are very cheap). settings are based on which driver you have, for they are two of them in the xbox large. (older ones). They are not american made!!!! cleaning the driver is very easy. cotton balls, Q tip swabs, cleaning alcohal and grease. ( now W-D 40 maybe used on driver motor if stiff). the 1st thing to check on a disk drive that is not reading the dcd's. The motor, check it to see if it is lose or tight. if it is tight, spray D-W 40 in the two large holes in back of motor. You will have to take motor off or turn it upside down to see the holes. ( all drivers are different)  clean lazer and grease the parts than need to make movement. (track of the drawer). plastic gears don't need to be greased. Do not over spray W-D 40, it will create a mess of oil all over your driver case. remember it takes a cd to make the driver run/operate. this would be the time consumming part of this. simply way is to pull lable off top of disk drive and twist out the spinner and set it on top of disk or simply put case back on. test it before you put it all back together. ( the spinner is magnetic that holds down the cd). good luck and have fun.

 note; I will be doing a mod on the disk driver. Why? cause I bought online games and will down load them for my personal use when I am off line.  Keep in mind, microsoft reads the michines for tare downs. they can even read a tore down driver. I am not going into doing any type of moding of xbox's, but if I paid for something i should get it and play it on any damn xbox in my home!!!!!!!!  I am at the point of mods and fixing the 4 rings of death. I have done a lot of sodering in my life, water pipe's but based on the same thing. just smaller tools and less solder.lol  also a none hdmi xbox is not worth fixing, just parts. should be a hand me down to young kids.

           I signed up on ebay and ordered a 3 ring of death xbox 360. It came today, in about 2 hours it was up and running. It took me that long, because it looked like someone opened it  upside down and the disk drive fell out and shattered. I reglued it and put it back together. Now this xbox, sounded like a couple of kids tried to fix it, they did all the hard part, but forgot one thing. (heat). (hard part, was cleaning it)  They put a new screw down for the cpu/other damn part .They even did a good job nigger riging the ram chips. Here's the funny thing, heat is bad for the xbox and burns out the cpu/upu paste making the bad connection, giving you the 4RROD. 3 RROD seems to be the motherboard solder seperation inside the board. This is why you would heat the board to reset the solder inside the board. Heat the board evenly to a hot touch and let cool. (Heat gun) or just pull the fan shroud and let run till hot and let cool. put fan shroud back on and test it. let it run and make sure it doesn't run hot. The fan shroud has to fit tight around the upu to keep it cool. It should run warm,if so, you are up and running again until the next clean out, (remember to not blow air into the fan blades to back fire electrical charge back into the motherboard). The upu are small cooling blades that collect a lot of dust and make it over heat.

     I ordered a mode chip for the controller. 10 mods, COD, black ops, GTA and Halo. (other shooting games). this chip is not compatable to for black ops 2,halo 5 or GTA5 but has duel shooter and some type of jumping. I think this is a very easy thing to put together, but it takes patiance. I also ordered new joy sticks with grip pads.  I will be doing my 1st rebuild of the controller with a shooting mod. I am doing this and putting a hdmi xbox 360 together with COD and this system will have a full COD xbox sticker on it. I will try and use my laptop and take pic of it as i work on it, from start to finish. i am excited to see this mod in action.  I have seen these controllers go for $125. to $200. This is based on the mod chip put in them. The mod chip for all new games is about $35. $5. each on joy stick with grip pad. I think the LED lights may look cool, but wares ones battery down quicker and A microsoft battery would be horse shit for this type of modding. One would have to jump up to a higher grade battery to handle it.                      I do not claim, that one should use this online in any game play. But damn i think it would be fun to kick ass in campaign. (off line). I think it will bring back some life to older games, a person has. I am a Halo fan and have been killed by many people using this mod. I am merely learning the in's and out's of the xbox 360,  microsoft will not get me again for hundreds off dollars (ever) infact microsoft in my eyes is a company that spends more money trying to cheat you out of money.
