Vintage BTCC Single Race Event.
So I've been thinking, with the Lotus Cortina now in my garage and one or two other classics, a vintage touring car race could be fun. Not sure about a one off, or a short series but just seeing if there would be any interest. I have no doubt there are one or two tuners out there that would assist in making the cars competitive with each other..I'm thinking Lotus, Jaguar and Healy are obvious, any other ideas?
If you saw my video in the other thread the old mustang 1st gen would be good for this too
That is what got me thinking...no original Mini is a fly in the ointment...
Hmmm. Interested. I'll even buy a damn car if I have to.
Actually, it's more of an excuse to buy the Cortina.
Isn't Cortina that scantily clad chick that provides intel to Master Chief in the Halo series? Parcells wouldn't object to riding her.
That would be Cortana, and as she is a hologram riding her might be a little difficult.
sound slike fun, but i dont have the car pack lol
Knight, stick me down for that!
.You could always use the Thunderbolt in its Fairlane trim, nothing would touch it on the straight but corners could be interesting... bit like the real thing....
P.
Tali and Liara from Mass Effect beat Cortana any day.
Tourni you don't need the whole pack, just one of the right cars...I will take a look and see if any of the stock cars will fit the time and place.
Thinking on it, if there is enough interest I will do a single one off event, there are several series in the pipeline and too many will just create a problem as people only have so much time. I would like a full grid and this is more likely with just one race. If it goes well then it can go on the back burner and be resurected again another time. Maybe if we see a track pack with tracks like Mondello Park, Brands Hatch etc.
I have a bunch of Vintage C class cars that I used for Retro Race Night. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send some over. Some might be a nice match for the Austin and the Cortina...well, at least visually.
Heh thought you might drop by Snappy, yes that would be great. There are many cars missing from forza to make an authentic grid...Mini, Anglia, A40...but I think we can keep it in the spirit of a classic late 50's early 60's event it would be cool. I just want this to be in the style of the gentleman racer as we were talking about the other day.
I blame this guy!
And now I'll be quiet...
Unfortunately, there are a whole mess of cars missing to do a proper BTCC race of any era, even the current season.
To go with the Cortina, you want the Alfa Romeo GT, Ford Galaxie 500, Jaguar MKII, BMW 1600 and of course, the ever missing, Mini Cooper.
I'm sure we can find some suitable replacements to do a BTCC themed event though. Just looking through some of the BTCC history makes me realise how much I would love for some of those old dogs to make it into the game! And for the love of *** Turn 10, model the Capri in any format already!
+1 on the Capri and original mini!
+1, I think the mini is a must, cannot for the life of me me see why T10 have neglected it for so long, The capri I love the idea of that, I loved the one I owned, and my dads Ford anglia was a fantastic little motor, I'm sure you will ba able to put something together, even if it was just the cortina and healey I would be happy
Hello,
interested, if I have the right car. The BMW 1600 would be fun for me, but only if someone will gift me a tune! One race - one goal - first victory? Haha.
JDANKERT
Yes I agree with everyone, I almost wish I hadn't started thinking about it. So many classic British race cars from the 60's and 70's are missing as indeed are the tracks to run them on. But be that as is may I think we can work with what we have to create a fun event in the stye of, so to speak....The Capri? for the love of god how can that not be in the game!
Well, we definitely need to have the AMC Pacer before any of those. What, with it's rich racing heritage and all...
I think that at the end of the day there is where the frustration with this game lies for me. I love it and will continue playing but if T10 really and truly believes in making gamers into car lovers then they need only look at the history of racing. The cars you guys mention and so many others are absolute essentials. IMHO, they are working too hard to strike a balance between making car lovers happy and providing advertising for auto makers so they can market this game. There, I said it.
And tracks..? Don't get me started. I watched the FiA WEC 6 hours of Spa on you tube and it was awesome. Need that track.
Yeah, the AMC advertising dollars pretty strong these days!
I know, it baffles me to death. The Pinto I can see, it was a small track phenom in the ministocks in it's day, and a little on the drag strip ( I guess?), but the Pacer?
I've been driving the wheels off my Austin Healey lately, ask Rex (hah!), and I've started tinkering with that Mercedes Squad car they just released with the disco lights on the front...it's fun on the 'Ring!
. I watched the FiA WEC 6 hours of Spa on you tube and it was awesome. Need that track.
You think it is AWSOME to watch wait till you drive it! Flat out through au rouge is a butt clencher that lives with you forever and tv gives you no impression of the steepness, It is actually hard to walk up it!
If they were going to add a new AMC It should have been the gremlin at the very least, the Pacer I feel was done for the Wayne and Garth effect.

SPA! +1000
If we are going to start on what series we should run with what cars well... That is a whole new thread!
As a starter, Cam Am 1966- 1969. Discuss....
I am sure we could use the fairlane as a Galaxy substitute, 2002 as a 1600 substitute but as for the Austin Mini and the Jaaaaaaaaggggg I have no idea.
P
Austin Mini = Smart car? (running for the hills...)
If I'm honest, what I would really like to see Turn 10 release is a BTCC 1998 pack for people who would like to recreate the greatest season ever.
Ford Mondeo
Vauxhall Vectra
Honda Accord
Renault Laguna
Audi A4
Volvo S40
Nissan Primera GT
Peugeot 406
I say the greatest season ever because it was possibly the closest and most action packed that the BTCC has seen. in 1999 both Audi and Peugeot dropped out, followed by Volvo, Renault and Nissan the following year and never again would more than four works teams compete in a season. I would pay full DLC price for those 8 cars, even if they modelled them in race spec/kit...
Now where's my old copy of TOCA Touring Cars?
This brings up a great point, and one that would appeal to many players perhaps, car packs designed specifically for certain series. I know it would appeal to me to buy a pack with cars for a race series I love, but it would probably exclude more buyers than include?
Perhaps more series specific, but at a higher cost per?
I agree, and its one of the biggest frustrations about this game. So many useless cars... SUV's? seriously...
How about putting in cars that people want to race, series care that sort of thing... Whilst your at it, include a standard race spec build option to make spec racing easier.
I've kinda tossed that around, and it's not a "race" spec per se, but in production auto's, pick a car, and don't exceed it's stock class, leaves less wiggle room to gain an advantage while still leaving something. I guess less room for the unfortunate to go the wrong way, and less room for the fortunate to go the right way. That's probably not as clear as it could be.
You probably want a spec build for say GT3, where you can bring 8 different cars all to that spec efficiently, and then wiggle as fit?
Yeah i know what you are saying, and it wouldcertainly benefit the racer types of the community, but that leads me on the the other annoying thing abou tthe game. It really isn't catered for series racing, its for people who want to go online, do a couple and then quit.
I'll put the keyboard down and step away from the screen...
