update and promise
Hello 2O4E- and 2O4F-Guys,
after nearly one week in bed, because of my back problem (well known since 1996), medicine (some kind of drugs), who let me sleep (with bad dreams) and a very “helpless feeling” (my wonderfull wife had to pack all things together for our summer vacation), I will leave Germany and the Internet tomorrow.
We (husband and father, wife, son and dog) are going to Texel, Netherlands. One of the most greatest islands in the world. Okay, I never was in (or is it right to say “on”) Ireland, but I visited Fuerteventura, Helgoland and Jersey. Texel is absolutely great.
Last year we had 18 days (in total 21 days) storm and rain. We lost our tent from the camping van and my son’s tent, because of that wind. I will never forget, as my wife flew, because the storm lifted our tent and she tried to hang on those “Zeltstangen”.
But there was much “good”. “ We learned to work together. Better than before. We felt what really is important in life. Although we knew it before. Our love was proven and fully alive. There was a night, in which my son slept well (thank god), my wife cuddled in my left arm, my dog in my right arm, both were very anxious (as I was too) and the storm lifted our van from those “pillars” (is google right in this translation?).
Nothing bad and serious happened to us. Most other campers left the scene next day. We not. My son (12 years old) and I worked as a top team together. During those stormy days without TV and WWW, we played cards, we read books and talked a lot. It was a great (and expensive (tents)) experience. For the whole family.
Tomorrow we will travel again. I will drive slowly and carefully (medicine) to bring my family to Oldenburg, Germany. There I have to speak about “decision making” at Saturday and Sunday. After my last speech (Sunday) we will drive to Texel. Until Sunday at 15.00 it will be a combination of business and holiday. After that: Only holiday.
No phone, no tv, no www and no xbox (no racing - that is the hard part J). Only love and time with my wife, my son, my dog and myself. I will meditate (Does anybody from you know shaman’s drums?). I will reduce my beer drinking. I will concentrate on the important humans (family) and things in life (health, balance, being, awareness, conciousness….).
And I will not race the first two races from the EUSL IV. But in September I will have a great “come back” (that is a promise). I will follow my training plan, I will participate in races and I will reserve this time “Sunday, 21.00” for you.
In the meantime I will read the book “Driving on the Edge: The Art and Science of Race Driving” by Michael Krumm and Pedro De La Rosa. I am sure, that I will find some clues and tipps on my way “to become a alien”. J
I honestly wish all of you a great time, love and health, fair and clean racing and ….. all, what you are wishing for yourself.
Until next time on the track! Someday after the Augst, 26th.
JDANKERT
PS - 1: I need the last official “Scirocco”-tune, a tune for the Honda S2000 and a tune for this EUSL-Nissan.
PS - 2: @ Knight: Please stay and don’t leave FM4 for r-factor! And there is another thing: If I will ever travel to Ireland, will you give me shelter for some days? For many years I want to visit and there is something inside me, which (or who?) wants to feel and experience Ireland. Don’t know why, but I know I have to. Talked with my wife: She will follow, if I will find a job in Ireland, New Zealand or ….. anywhere. I am so tired and frustrated about Germany and Europe.
PS - 3: @ all: I will buy and use a mic in September. Okay, my English is ….., but things, knowledge and language only become better, if you are brave enough to make yourself silly, right?
As always jdankert an excellent read!!
Glad to hear your getting a bit better.
I will have some EUSL tunes for you when you return.
Be safe, enjoy your holiday chap and have a good one
I am racing the s2000 dankert, so I will have tuned that and will send it accross to you. Same for the 370.
There is nothing special about becoming an "Alien," its mainy understanding how you make a car do some thing and what happens when you do the wrong thing. For example, tyres only have so much grip to give, so where do you use most of the grip on a corner to make it the fastest possible way of taking said corner.
A hairpin, corner entry grip will be used for the hard braking initially, and then when you are completely off the brakes it will be used to rotate the car with steering. Once you are heading for the apex, you no longer need to steer as much - Thus you have spare grip, POWER TIME! but not all of it :( Apply it little by little as you unwind the steering through the corner. By the time you are on corner exit, there is no steering to be done and you are full power ideally.
Take that concept and appy RWD, we all know too much power spins a car.. so it rotates the back end. Okay, lets use that to our advantage, with delicate throttle control you can rotate the back end AND go forwards at the same time which is far better than usiing more steering and waiting. :)
Anyways, keep that in mind when you are reading the books and i wish you all the best with your health, holiday and such.
See you back soon! We will save a space :D
Have no fear mate, I have no intention of leaving 2O4E or Forza, yes I have found a second home at GBR and love PC racing but I have bought a new Xbox just for Forza and for no other reason. There will be more series ideas for some time to come and sure I'm not going to let Fitzy be the only Irish representative. You are of course welcome in my home my friend any time
JD, there are many of us already fluent in English and we don't let that slow us down on the silly!
And Knight, thank you, thank you, thank you...for not leaving us with just Fitzy...
