Thrustmaster TX headset problem resolved
Hey fellas,
Just a heads up, seems like the latest XB1 update on 02/20/14 fixed the issue with not being able to have a headset plugged into a controller while using the TX wheel. Thrustmaster posted this on their facebook page:
"FORZA 5: The new update of Forza 5 (available since yesterday) solves the conflict between steering wheel & gamepad controller.
It's now also possible to use “Xbox One Chat Headset”!
For this:
1)Plug Headset on your gamepad
2)Turn On the console with your gamepad
3)In console menu, SIGN IN to your profile with the gamepad
4)Launch the game
5)Inside the game, press “A” on your Steering Wheel
6)SIGN IN to same profile with your Steering Wheel
7)With your Steering wheel, you can now access to MULTIPLAYER and chat with the Headset even if you play with a Steering Wheel"
Looks like we don't need to use the Kinect any longer. Good news for me since not being able to mute the Kinect when my kids get loud was the main reason I haven't been racing online.
I can get the headset to work, but it keeps shutting off after a while, unless I bump the controller to keep it active. And my wheel starts automatically when I start forza 5. Are you having the same problem?
Honestly I haven't tried it yet, I just saw the post yesterday. I do know though that plugging your controller in via usb (like with the charge and play kit) will keep it from going to sleep.
So the TX doesn't have a port for the headset then? I had been wondering about this since I'm realy interested in getting the wheel. Racing with a controller just isn't the same after using the CSR for so long with F4.
No headset port on the wheel, which is majorly stupid, but ultimately insignificant. The chat quality is superb, even when folks are using the Kinect for the mic. I use my Turtle Beach X-Ray headset for game sound and to hear chat. I use the Kinect as the mic. That set up works fine. The only downside is that muting the Kinect mid-race is very difficult and so if you have kids, like I do, you may expose the lobby to some of their noise.
Get the TX wheel Ammo, I guarantee that you will love it.
