Tell me about this Destiny
I been having a hard time on Halo and been thinking about moving on. Is this game a Halo killer or what? Does it have lots of problems like MCC? Is the multiplayer as fun as Halo? I played the beta and liked it and have been trying out the free trial though I haven't tried crucible as a lvl 5 yet. I notice my FL is always full of people playing Destiny. Is the multiplayer fun? , balanced? How much is it gonna set me back to get the game and all the DL content? What does Halo have that this game dosen't?
I wouldnt call it a Halo killer, but it is good. I like it as much as I like Halo 3&4, though for different reasons. MP I hated at first, but I really like it now. The Supers are game-changers, but not in a bad way, IMHO. They just take some time getting used to. Kill times are a lot faster, but not as fast as COD. Its a decent middle ground I think, though I wish it was slightly longer.
I may be wrong, but I swear I saw Destiny on sale recently.
Prior to Destiny I was a PC Gamer
I did not play the beta but did my research online, through write up reviews and gameplay videos, then I bought a PS4.
Had the PS4 not had "the Last Of Us" (an absolutely amazing game) as part of the bundle I would have returned the console to the retailer and cut my losses; because Destiny did not meet my expectations on release; those expectations influenced by what I had read and viewed prior to the purchase proved to be a little out of kilter with what the game turned out to be.
BUT
Now that I have found 2Old2Play and have played Destiny with some of these fine folks I am enjoying it more, and as I bought the DLC Pass with the game it will have my attention at least until they want money for the third expansion, then I will look again at my options.
Like I said I was not a console gamer prior to Destiny, however with games like Assassin's Creed Unity and The Last Of Us the console does have it's attraction.
The test will come with TheDivision, whether I play it console or PC.
To get the full value from this game you must like to PvP (Crucible, Iron Banner); which is not my cup of tea; however if you do like PvP then chat with other's here that do like it to get their opinions.
Halo is a Halo killer. The debacle of the MCC has bumped me out of Halo for a while. I'll give Halo 5 a chance in the beta but may wait on purchasing.
As for Destiny, take this with a grain of salt. This is a game I had no intention of purchasing just because of the time commitment involved, but is incredibly fun. It is a grind yes, but it is a fun grind. It is not a game to be played solo, it is better with friends although I wish the fireteams could be expanded in the future for strikes and patrols. It's like taking the co-op nature of Firefight from Reach and expanding it a thousand fold. I liked firefight.
For crucible, it's not quite Halo but it is decent although a little lacking in variety. There are limited maps and gametypes right now, but the expansion should bring a few changes in that regard. I'm still working on finding a preferential loadout for Crucible. Just need to find that right primary that I feel comfortable with.
It is a grinding game but it is fun. I like to think it is a mix of the loot system from diablo, plus the space theme from Mass Effect, with the gameplay like halo. I didnt think I would still be playing this game but acutally I am having more fun playing the more I do.
The DLC will be nice to some new weapons and missions.
I would recommned this game. And of course you should trust some random guy on the internet. What could go wrong?
Halo fanboy checking in.
Compared to MCC's buggy release, Destiny is paradise. The gameplay is a little different, and if you liked startign with a BR, competitive style of online play, Destiny doesn't quite have that. there is more than enough weird shit that goes on, from people starting with fusion rifles and shotguns and the myriad space magic that instakills you even though you completely outplayed them. The kill times that Von Zant talked about are right, but you get some pretty quick kills with accurate shots. If you're plunking shots into the body, then its going to take you longer and you'll end up losing the confrontations. If you're hitting your headshots, you'll start taking down two or even three people down if you get the jump on them.
Everyone and their mother is playing it. You can get a game with pretty much anyone at any time. Even people who poured their time into one character are branching out and starting over with second or third characters. Even if you're doing campaign or Crucible (which I'm less apt to do with three stupid characters and trying to level them all up/there's no Iron Banner or the incoming Trials of Osiris), you've got a massive pool of folks to pull from. The game can/does get a little grindy at times, but I don't find the grind to be too bad, especially since the last patch, which made it a little less grindy in some respects, but incredibly grindy in others (Exotic Shards? Pleh.) I get the feeling that hopping into the game now with the new DLC got us to beta test all the bugs and progression ideas, so you can get a pretty clear path to level 30 (the current level cap until...oh...tomorrow, where it turns to 32).
Halo is dead. Wake me up when its Halo 5. Maybe I won't be playing Destiny then. Then again, I tend to play one title pretty exclusively for a few years, and a lot of folks chase the shiny penny.
No More Minecraft?
Like others, I pretty much soured on Halo, and as different as Destiny can be from Halo I've really been enjoying it for the most part, aside from the fact it can be just a tad grindy and eat time from my life. Hope to be at 20 by end of today (I know I'm a bit slow but I'm building up reputation running patrols and public events and stuff) so feel free to add me for future events and raids when I finally get up there. I have a mic and I have some experience with shooting things :)
For now I'm looking for some people to grind vanguard rep with on Cosmodrome and maybe complete a few strikes. I just hope I'm not too late to the party. I am more than willing to help anyone thinking about starting a new character who wants to blow through "harder" areas (assuming I can do that). Haven't done any Crucible yet but once I feel comfortable doing that I will. Feel free to add me, GT on the left.
