SO, How Are We Going To Organize For Destiny??

If this title is to succeed at uniting this community under one banner, then it'll take some organizational effort. Without it, it could flop like a fish out of water.

I see the 3 player Fireteams, 6 Player Crucible teams and the sheer volume of activities as being marks against large party organization. I am used to organizing and talking with groups of 16. I will miss that.

Ideas?

One thing I was thinking, we could have fireteams doing competitive speed runs through campaign levels. When we understand matchmaking better, maybe a huge group of us can go on raids in Explore mode. We'd completely dominate the events that pop up.

I didn't see the 2o2p Stream with Bungie.

Did we learn how big Crucible parties will be and associated chat limits?

Did we learn how big Raids will be, associated Fireteams and chat limits?

Did we learn how big Strikes will be, associated Fireteams and chat limits?

It's a little concerning with a chat limit plus gathering limit of 3.

Sure maybe we can somehow play together but, no chat makes me a cranky person. It may be difficult to retain community cohesion.

A crucible party is 6 people and that's who you can talk to.

No word on raids or their fireteams. Though I feel like if we could bring friends that's something he would have been happy to share. "Yes, we of course want you to play with your friends. We realize that's why most people buy a co-op game, so we've made that easy for you to do." Him not saying anything leads me to believe they can't or won't let us bring multiple friends into a raid or a strike because that wouldn't really make people look favorably upon the game. Not being able to play with friends might make people not want the game, and that's certainly not something they'd want to share.

We might just have to treat this like Borderlands and have our little groups we play with.

Not a dumb question at all. It's very much part of the problem of getting people together as a community. There will be no less than 4 Destiny 2old2play community rosters.

We will need lots of party leaders or something else to make this game work.

How does Battlefield 3 work on XB1? How many in a social group and chat? Is it sucky too?

You mean Battlefield 4? 5 people to a squad (Unless you glitch through the battlelog. I've had up to 8 people in the same squad). But really, there's almost never a reason not to be in party chat when you're on xbox, there you can chat with as many people as you want.

Yeah 4 on XB1. Isn't there a maxiumum chat on XB1 and does anyone even know if Bungie will allow that maximum while playing Destiny?

I think some multiplayer games do not allow XBL chat. It's in-game only.

You can have 32 max in a party, but only 8 of them are allowed to use their mic. As for letting all 8 people play together, I know you can play with 6 at a time in the crucible and be in party chat. We'll just have to wait and see what happens with the raids and such.

Ideas? Anyone?

1. We need Fireteam leaders for Explore and Mission modes..

2. We need PvP team leaders for both MM and Customs.

3. We need leaders to organize Raids (whatever they are) and any huge Public events.

If we don't do something, we'll just drift around with the same 3 friends until the game disintegrates socially.

It would be great if Destiny was the next game to unite 2old2play socially. I'm not seeing it though and I was hoping someone had ideas for consideration.

I just don't really see it happening. It's not Borderlands with it's massive amount of content and hundreds of hours of gameplay and bazillion weapons so I don't think the PvE will last all that long. It's not Halo with it's competitive adjustable settings and forge maps and fair and balanced gameplay so I don't see it really being something we all team up and get amped to play on Wednesday nights. Unless they move quick and pump out DLC and content (Aside from silly things like those public events where you have to stop the drilling or kill the walker for no loot or any descernable reward) I think most of us are gonna finish in about a month, maybe screw around occasionally with the PvP.

DEEP, since we've not heard about if we'll have custom game options or any kind of forge in the game, it will probably just be up to people to step-up and lead a Fireteam into whatever portion of the game they want to play.

Hopefully we'll be able to do custom PvP and that will help with some of the challenges of getting a large group of 2o2p peeps together.

And where are we going to organize it?  through  this website or the clan on Bungie's site?

Unless Bungie offers us value added services for Clans on their website, I don't see the point of doing anything on B.net.

The lack of matchmaking for raids concerns me slightly. You're REQUIRED to have 6 friends whenever you want to do a raid. Not everyone is going to have 30+ people on their friends list getting the game and playing whenever they are. So we'll probably set up a Destiny FoF list for people to pull someone to fill a slot. But what happens in a month when other games come out or people are just bored and now those 40 people on the FoF are playing other games and you can't find 6 people?

It's gonna suck for a 2o2p night as well. If we all decide to do Thursday Raid Day or whatever it'll be near impossible to always get 12 or 18 people exactly. We're gonna get 15 or 9 or something and for those 12 it'll be fine, but that's 3 people who get a big F U because they got nobody to play with.

So I see this community having a dedicated time slot/night where we play with members for the purpose of mingling and having fun at the same time. Just like our Halo night but with a few more twists.

I'd not want to see people breaking up into exclisive little domains and literally isolating themselves until the game dies from social segmentation and segregation.

As the father/mother of game communities, it seems unfathomable that Bungie wouldn't have thought about the community aspects of Destiny. And, it seems unfathomable that Bungie hasn't already outlined how it will handle/promote communities, given that I heard about its 10 year committment to Destiny.

Without a robust structure for community building and interaction, Destiny will take a big hit on 11/11 (at least for some).

I understand Minotaur, I hope bungie pulls through with something.

It would seem ridiculous for Bungie to troll us with their Raid hype videos and then cut the balls off communities' ability to organize..

Next few weeks should be very enlightening.

Seems like the bigger issue might become who's playing on what console. But the raids sound fun and then, by the time our weapons and stats let us do raids, we'll know who we can find to join in together. At least this Raid news makes it sound like the Beta was actually Destiny at its most basic. That is promising.

Now that circumstance has presented an issue, I'm sure we'll figure something out that'll be better than nothing. FoF GT may be a solution. Maybe Bungie will give us a solution.

Maybe the term "Friend" is a loose description?

That's what I was thinking. No matchmaking, but maybe you can invite people in (friend or not)  Similar to how you can invite a random person into your fireteam

ps4 raids

xb1 fire teams mission / explore

ps4 fire teams.......360, ps3 and so on.

long running threads that one checks to see what's going on.

locked threads for info only to point peeps in the right direction (if  they  exist any more)

Based on the info Bungie has been dropping on twitter and IGN, its looking like you'll be able to invite anyone at anytime, you just won't have matchmaking to fill the empty slots

The first night I played the Beta, out of the blue I got an invite to join from a random.  I still didn't know what-n-el I was doing at that point, so I ignored it. But, I filed that data point away as an interesting factoid.  A day or two later I poked around in the character screen and found the roster, where I found you could actually invite randoms.   I'd consider it a last ditch effort at filling out a team. I'd rather play with friends I know, but there may be a time when there's no alternative.
